Texas extends offer to elite in-state 2027 RB
The Texas Longhorns and their staff had a busy weekend. They were evaluating some of the top prospects in the country, which included some of the top players in the Lone Star State. Enter four-star running back Lathan Whisenton of the 2027 class.
Programs from all across Texas had extended offers to Whisenton before he hit Austin. Well, he can add the Longhorns to the list now as they have taken his total to 14 offers he announced via his social media.
Whisenton is currently the No. 24 running back in the country and the No. 302 recruit overall per 247Sports composite rankings. The 6-foot, 195-pounder is also the No. 42 prospect out of Texas.
The talent of Whisenton was seen right away as he was named the Texas District 12-6A Offensive Newcomer of the Year as a freshman after racking up 512 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. It was a breakout campaign for Whisenton as he racked up 1,286 yards and scored 18 rushing touchdowns as well as 81 receiving yards.
It'll be interesting to see how long it takes Texas to het Whisenton back on campus to improve their standing in his recruitment.

Where former Florida football coach Urban Meyer ranks among the best of the 21st century

Where former Florida football coach Urban Meyer ranks among the best of the 21st century A full quarter of the 21st century has already elapsed and the first 25 years of the new millennium have been an exciting one for college football. The first two-and-a-half decades have seen dynasties come and go, with many teams ebbing and flowing in the collegiate gridiron landscape. Probably the most important part of a program is the head coach, who is responsible for every aspect of the school's student-athletes and is ultimately the one who receives the most credit (or blame) depending on the level of success. Many men have tried to succeed at the FBS level, but few have truly excelled. The Athletic recently took a look at the top 25 head coaches since the turn of the century, with Urban Meyer — who helped lead the Florida Gators to not one but two national titles — landing second overall. Former UF coach Bob Stoops was also lauded for his success with the Oklahoma Sooners at No. 6, but we will focus on the one who served as the skipper during the Orange and Blue's golden years. Breaking down Urban Meyer's accomplishments Accomplishments: Three national championships, two additional undefeated seasons, seven conference championships, nine top-five finishes "Only two coaches have won a national championship at multiple schools, and they top this list. Meyer won two at Florida in 2006 and 2008 before stepping away due to health concerns. He returned at Ohio State a few years later and opened with an undefeated season in 2012, though the Buckeyes were banned from the postseason due to the Tattoogate scandal under Tressel, but then won it all in 2014. "Meyer also went undefeated at Utah in 2004 with Alex Smith at quarterback, as the Utes became the first program from outside a power conference to reach a BCS bowl. His 187-39 record is good for a winning percentage of 85%. It's one of the most impressive runs in history, behind only the guy who ended Florida's run (Nick Saban)." Former Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney could land at Florida

Former Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney could land at Florida Former star Notre Dame catcher Carson Tinney may soon have a new home. Per Baseball America's Jacob Rudner, Florida is in the mix for the former Fighting Irish backstop, who hit .348 with 17 home runs and 53 RBIs as a sophomore with the Fighting Irish. He is one of the more intriguing players currently in the transfer portal. This past season, the Gators used Luke Heyman and Brody Donay behind the plate. An injury to Heyman near the end of the year forced Donay to become the full-time catcher the rest of the way, but his defense was an issue. Could the Gators shift him to first base or designated hitter? UF did bring in JUCO catcher AJ Malzone, but landing Tinney would be a real coup. It helps the cause that the Gators landed former ND pitcher Ricky Reeth, whose pitches were caught by Tinney in South Bend this past season. Losing Tinney was a tough blow for the Irish. He was the team's best player and a centerpiece of Shawn Stiffler's rebuild in South Bend.
