Luke Kornet has been a monster for the Boston Celtics, and Payton Pritchard a wizard
In the last few weeks, backup big man Luke Kornet has been a monster for the Boston Celtics, and 2025 Sixth Man of the Year candidate Payton Pritchard a wizard (but not of the Washington variety of course). The two founding members of the Celtics' Stay Ready Crew have been more than ready for their expanded role in Boston's late season contests, helping to push Boston towards a 60-win season despite the usual championship hangover most defending champs tend to end up dealing with.
The folks behind the "Boston Celtics" official YouTube channel put together a clip on their "Sound Off" podcast hosted by team journalist Marc D'Amico taking a closer look at the damage the Boston duo has been doing to opposing teams in the stretch run.

Roman Anthony's Immediate Reaction to Red Sox Call-Up

Roman Anthony's Immediate Reaction to Red Sox Call-Up originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Red Sox (32-35) are experiencing a feel-good stretch after a rough start to the season. Not only did they win their road series vs. their arch-rival New York Yankees (39-25) over the weekend, but they also called up baseball's No. 1 prospect on Monday, via MassLive's Christopher Smith. Advertisement Boston took outfielder Roman Anthony No. 79 overall in the 2022 MLB Draft and promoted him to Single-A Salem in his first season. The organization then sent the Florida native to High-A Greenville and later to Double-A Portland in 2023. He was named the Red Sox minor-league hitter of the year after hitting .294 with 12 homers, 38 RBI, and 41 runs scored across 54 games with Greenville. The team then sent Anthony to Triple-A Worcester in August 2024 and invited him to spring training before this season. The 6-foot-3-inch, 200-pounder hit .288 with 10 homers, 29 RBI, and a .914 OPS across 58 games at Worcester this year before finally getting his big-league call-up. Anthony delivered a quick message en route to Boston on Monday, via MassLive's Katie Morrison-O'Day. They're four games out of a Wild Card spot and are 8.5 games behind the Yankees for first place in the AL East. Boston will next host the Tampa Bay Rays (35-30) before rematching New York. Red Sox Make Major Roman Anthony Announcement After Beating Yankees

Red Sox Make Major Roman Anthony Announcement After Beating Yankees originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Red Sox had been in a bit of a slump recently, but found some momentum over the weekend by taking two out of three games from their rival—and AL East-leading—New York Yankees. The series win pushed Boston to 32-35 on the season as they look to build consistency and stack more victories. Advertisement Following the series, the Red Sox made a major announcement on Monday ahead of their series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway Park. After a highly anticipated wait, Boston is officially calling up top prospect Roman Anthony, the No. 1 ranked prospect in all of baseball. Anthony has been dominant in the minors and will now join a crowded but talented Red Sox outfield, posing an intriguing challenge for manager Alex Cora as he figures out how to manage the rotation. The 21-year-old is set to join the team on Monday and will be in the lineup for their matchup against the Rays, batting fifth. Advertisement He's coming off a jaw-dropping 497-foot go-ahead grand slam on Saturday in Triple-A—a moment that appeared to be the final push for the Red Sox to promote him. It was the longest home run hit in either the majors or minors this season. Now, he'll serve as a much-needed spark for a Boston team looking to climb back into contention. Report: Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla in Turkiye scouting sharpshooting forward

Report: Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla in Turkiye scouting sharpshooting forward Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla has reportedly made the trip to Turkiye to see a Fenerbahce big man, presumably as a potential depth option at power forward for the Celtics next season. With star Boston swingman Jayson Tatum sidelined for most or even all of the Celtics' 2025-26 campaign, Boston will need to find a way to add depth to the team on the cheap, with the storied ball club simultaneously trying to navigate a way to shrinking a historic payroll and tax bill. Enter Fenerbahce forward Nigel Hayes-Davis, who has been playing well for the EuroLeague squad this season, putting up 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.1 steals per game with the Turkish club in EuroLeague play while hitting 42.3% of his 3s and shooting 46.0% from the field overall. Per Eurohoops, Mazzulla "travelled to Turkiye to take a look at" Hayes-Davis. The 30-year-old, 6-foot-7 wing could help Boston weather the Tatum absence -- as well as help shore up the wing if Boston elects to move off reserve forward Sam Hauser to save money as well. Hayes-Davis, a native of Westerville, Ohio, has previously played short stints with the Los Angeles Lakers, Toronto Raptors, and Sacramento Kings at the NBA level in the 2017-18 season. The Wisconsin alum headed overseas to play in the Turkish Basketball Super League and the Euroleague afterward, setting the modern individual player scoring record (50 points) in that league in 2023-24.
