Hyundai Elantra Named 2025 Best Hybrid for the Money by Cars.com

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., May 13, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hyundai Elantra Hybrid has been awarded the 2025 Best Hybrid for the Money and winner of the compact car segment by Cars.com. Additionally, the Hyundai Santa Fe HEV has been awarded Best Hybrid for the midsize SUV category. To qualify, any hybrid vehicle that allows shoppers to pay the least for the most mileage, barring all other considerations, was included in the evaluation. Cars.com devised an efficiency-cost rating to determine if a hybrid vehicle's added expense is worth the cash for buyers. This list includes model-year 2025 hybrids without a plug, and vehicle equipment levels, quality judgments, cost of car ownership or any variances from EPA mileage estimates were not factors.
'As consumers evaluate the optimal solution for eco-friendly vehicles, Hyundai provides a wide range of product platforms and several propulsion systems,' said Ricky Lao, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor North America. 'Receiving recognition for the best hybrid vehicle overall and in two categories by Cars.com exemplifies Hyundai's proficiency in alternative propulsion technologies and highlights the value of hybrid vehicles.'
'Hyundai stands out in this year's rankings thanks to vehicles that pair high mpg ratings with competitive pricing — the two key metrics in our value-based methodology,' says Jennifer Geiger, Cars.com News Editor. 'The 2025 Elantra Hybrid tops our list with the highest efficiency-cost rating of any vehicle analyzed, which is why it's named Cars.com's Best Hybrid Car for the Money. The 2025 Santa Fe Hybrid also earns its win for Best Hybrid Mid-Size SUV for the Money by delivering strong fuel economy and pricing. Rugged styling and three-row versatility are just icing on the cake,' said Jenni Newman, editor-in-chief, Cars.com.'
The Elantra Hybrid Blue offers segment-leading EPA estimated up to 54 MPG combined1 and the 2025 Elantra lineup also introduces a new SEL Sport trim available with ICE or hybrid powertrains. Fuel-efficient power for both city commutes and outdoor adventures, the Santa Fe HEV is available on the SEL, Limited and/or Calligraphy trims for either FWD or AWD.
In April 2025, Hyundai's hybrid vehicle sales rose by 46 percent, marking their best HEV month ever. The Santa Fe HEV, Tucson PHEV, and Tucson HEV also achieved retail and total sales records.

Kia EV5 GT Spotted Testing In Korea

If Hyundai has its N performance vehicle family, Kia answers with its GT badge, especially on its burgeoning line of electric vehicles. The Korean marque already offers the EV6 GT and EV9 GT, both topping their respective ranges with outstanding performance. Even the US-bound Kia EV3 is rumored to receive a high-performance GT version. We also know that the EV5, which sits right below the EV6, is getting the GT treatment. While its design may have been leaked in China last year, a prototype has already been spotted on the road, thanks to Shorts Car on Instagram, signaling an imminent official debut. Even through the camo, there are clues. The EV5 GT prototype wears a set of sporty alloy wheels that bear a strong resemblance to those on the EV6 GT. Yellow brake calipers peek through the spokes, hinting at upgraded stopping power, while a wider stance and lower ride height suggest revised suspension tuning and stickier rubber underneath. In typical GT fashion, the visual changes are purposeful, not just cosmetic. Stylistically, the EV5 GT will borrow heavily from Kia's latest EV design playbook. Think EV6 and EV9, but with added aggression unique to the GT family. Unlike the EV6, the EV5 GT will have a boxy body, closely resembling the EV9. Unlike China's EV5, the GT model is based on the global version, which means revisions aimed at broader markets. Chief among them is a redesigned center console, replacing the less conventional jump seat setup with a more premium, practical armrest. Official details of what's under the EV5 GT's skin are still scarce, but the EV6 GT should set a benchmark at 576 hp and a 0-62 mph time of 3.5 seconds. It's unclear if the EV5 GT will have the same output, but a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup is almost certain at this point. Inside reports point to using an 82 kWh nickel-cobalt-manganese battery, with a projected range between 373 and 435 miles. The Kia EV5 GT will be produced in China and Korea, so it's unlikely to reach the U.S. market, at least for now. If the automaker introduces it stateside, local production is expected in hopes of curbing the current tariffs imposed on imported vehicles and parts. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. As the latest installment in the award-winning "OKAY Hyundai" series, the spot blends humor, cultural familiarity, and savvy financial choices to show how smart savings can make room for joy — and a little flair. In a world where every penny counts, the campaign introduces Sidney, who appears to be living an extravagant lifestyle—much to the suspicion of his sharp-eyed, no-nonsense aunties. The 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid offers a perfect balance of power and efficiency, featuring a 1.6L turbocharged hybrid engine and standard HTRAC, delivering up to 35 MPG combined. Inside, drivers enjoy advanced tech like a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, plus Hyundai SmartSense safety features including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Blind-Spot Collision Warning — all designed for smarter, safer driving. Nissan Is Working On A Cheap Sedan For The Masses

Embattled automotive giant Nissan is facing a tough time. The company has been forced to lay off thousands of workers and cancel plans for increased battery production. Things are going so badly that some question how long Nissan can survive. But with new CEO Ivan Espinosa at the helm and promising new vehicles, hope endures, and one of those new vehicles has just been unofficially revealed through patent images discovered by Top Gear Philippines. The images were filed in China in September last year and officially registered exactly one month ago, suggesting that the sedan they depict will make production. The boomerang-shaped headlights remind us of some Hyundai and Kia designs, while the lightbar at the rear calls to mind the Dodge Charger and Durango. And while we can't see much detail in these images, the fastback shape indicates that this vehicle may play loose with the term "sedan," likely appearing with a liftback tailgate like the latest Audi A5. This gives the vehicle the style and grace of a sedan with the cargo-carrying and loading abilities of a hatchback. More than that, we cannot be sure of yet, but this design conforms to the new language heralded by last year's Beijing Auto Show concepts, which included a sedan with similar looks to this. That Nissan Evo concept was announced as a plug-in hybrid, and it's likely that this new sedan would also avoid going all-electric. Since we don't know exactly what car this previews, it's difficult to estimate the price. Its size is unclear from this filing, and both the Altima and the Sentra could do with a makeover. A new Maxima could also make a certain amount of sense, especially with the upcoming Leaf crossover filling the needs of those who need a taller vehicle. Until we hear something directly from Nissan, though, it's too soon to get excited. The fact that the patent images were filed in China could mean that the car will never reach America, especially if it ends up being produced there, but it also means this shouldn't carry an exorbitant price, and the U.S. market is in dire need of more affordable cars.
