Miscreants steal gold, valuables from passengers on board Rayalaseema Express
Miscreants stole gold ornaments and other valuables from the passengers travelling in Nizamabad-Tirupati Rayalaseema Express (12794) near Gooty Junction railway station in Guntakal division of South Central Railway (SCR) zone at around 1.30 am on Tuesday.
According to sources, the train halted at the outer signal of Gooty Junction railway station to give passage to the Amaravati Express. A group of five people stole valuables from seven passengers travelling in four sleeper coaches. The miscreants stole the valuables through the windows while the passengers were asleep in the side berths.
The passengers lodged complaints with the Government Railway Police (GRP) officials after the train reached Tirupati railway station on Tuesday morning.
'The Guntakal GRP staff and Railway Protection Force (RPF) teams are conducting searches near Gooty railway station. Sniffer dogs have also been pressed into service,' SCR official spokesperson told The Hindu.
'The teams are collecting forensic samples. However, no clues have been found about the perpetrators yet,' the SCR offical said.

BAREILLY: Undertrial Narendra Kumar Dubey, 43, lodged in prison for two-and-a-half years for allegedly 'killing another man by throwing him from a running train' was released by a court here Wednesday, as the 'victim' was found alive in Gujarat, reports Kanwardeep Singh . Additional district and sessions judge Pankaj Kumar Srivastava said in the order that the person thrown off the train by Dubey was someone else. If the family of that person comes forward and wishes to file a case against Dubey, the case proceedings will go on. In Dec 2022, passengers on Delhi-bound 14205Ayodhya Cantt-Old Delhi Express threw one Mohd Ahtab, 26, off the train after suspecting him to be a mobile phone thief on a stretch between Shahjahanpur and Bareilly stations. When the train stopped in Bareilly, Dubey, from Ayodhya, was arrested by GRP and sent to jail under IPC section 302 (murder), based on videos and testimonies by passengers. Later, a body was found in Shahjahanpur, and through social media, a man from Bihar's Muzaffarpur, Mohammad Yaqub, identified it as that of his son Ahtab. The family then conducted the last rites in Shahjahanpur. A year after the incident, Ahtab returned home from Gujarat but didn't inform Shahjahanpur police. Villagers in Muzaffarpur made videos of Ahtab and sent them to police and he was brought to UP. He stated in court that he was not on the train that day as he was working in Gujarat in the tailoring and embroidery industry. The court then ordered the release of Dubey, declaring him innocent. Ahtab's father Mohammad Yaqub told the court the body shown to him looked like that of his son, and other members of the family also felt the same way. The brutal murder of the incident was posted on social media and shared widely online. In a 66-second video — purportedly shot by a passenger — several people could be seen laughing and assaulting the man. One of the passengers, identified as Narendra Kumar Dubey, could be seen abusing and pushing him out of the general compartment even as the man was begging for his life. Couple thrown off moving train while fighting off robber
Mumbai: A couple was thrown off a moving train and seriously injured while they tried to fight off a robber who attempted to snatch the woman's bag between Bhandup and Kanjurmarg stations on Wednesday. The Kurla Government Railway police (GRP) said that Dipali Deshmukh, 44, a resident of Panvel, was travelling on the LTT Nanded special Express train with her husband, Yogesh Deshmukh, 50, and their nine-year-old daughter when the train slowed down between Kanjurmarg and Bhandup stations. The family was asleep when at 3:50am Dipali felt a tug at her purse. She told the police that she screamed and did not let go of her bag as the thief dragged her towards the door. Her husband, an ayurvedic doctor in Panvel, awoke and tried to help her, but the robber dragged both victims towards the door and pulled them along with him as he jumped off the train. The couple fell onto the tracks and were seriously injured. Dipali said, 'I got up and immediately took my husband to the Fortis hospital as he had injured his arm and shoulder.' Due to the gravity of the injuries, Yogesh's left arm had to be amputated. Based on the couple's complaint, the Kurla GRP has booked the unidentified thief under section 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). In a similar incident, on June 1, another couple, Ayub Khan, 46, and Hina Khan, 42, were targeted by a gang of four robbers on the Jaipur-Bandra Express. The couple tried to fight off the robbers but were threatened at knife-point and robbed of valuables worth ₹700,000.
