Delhi BJP announces names of presidents for 14 district units
Delhi BJP president Virendraa Sachdeva congratulated all the newly appointed presidents and expressed hope that the new team will cooperate in expanding the organisation and implementing the government's policies.
BJP leader Ajay Khatana has been appointed district president of Keshavpuram, and Arvind Garg has been appointed president of Chandani Chowk. Similarly, BJP leader UK Chaudhary has been appointed district president of North East Delhi, while Master Binod Kumar has been appointed the new president of Naveen Shahdara.
According to a release from the Delhi BJP media department, BJP leader Mahendra Nagpal announced Vijendra Dhama as the newly appointed president of Mayur Vihar district, while Deepak Gaba has been named Shahdara district chief. Virendra Babbar has been appointed district president of Karol Bagh, while Ravindra Chaudhary has been appointed district president of New Delhi.
Ramchandra Chawariya has been appointed the Outer Delhi district president, while Chandrapal Bakshi has been appointed West Delhi district president. Raj Sharma Gautam has been appointed president of the Najafgarh district, while Ravindra Solanki has been appointed president of the Mehrauli district. Maya Bisht has been named the district president of South Delhi.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta asserted that the BJP government is committed to developing the slums in the national capital and assured that no slums in the city will be demolished.
Speaking to persons during her visit to a slum, CM Gupta said that the government is building all these facilities, including drains, toilets and parks for slum dwellers.
'I have just come to a slum area where we are laying sewer lines and I want to give a message to all the slum dwellers of Delhi that these people who are in shock that the government has not completed 100 days and so much work is going on continuously are circulating some lists in WhatsApp groups as part of a conspiracy that slums will be demolished. Not even one slum settlement, not even one slum colony of Delhi, will be demolished. We have kept a budget of Rs 700 crores for different kinds of work in the slums. To provide all these facilities like drains, toilets, bathrooms and parks for children, we are investing crores of rupees in every slum area,' CM Gupta said.
'The government is working in the interest of the people and the slum dwellers. Yamuna ji should be cleaned, and we are working on this goal,' she added.
The Delhi CM further stated that the government has appointed responsible officers for every waterlogging point in the national capital, and strict actions will be taken if they fail to fulfil their responsibility. (ANI)

Bengaluru: Karnataka IT and Biotechnology Minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday slammed the Centre's decision to impose a blanket ban on online real money gaming (RMG), calling it 'another masterstroke by Modi Sarkar in bad policy making.' Kharge, son of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, said the decision would hit state revenues, jobs and investments. 'India earns Rs 20,000 crore annually from GST and income tax via online RMG. The ban means states lose this revenue stream,' he said in a post on 'X'. The minister noted that over 2,000 gaming startups and more than two lakh jobs in IT, AI and design would be at risk. 'A ban kills India's gaming talent pool and pushes entrepreneurs abroad,' Kharge said, adding that Rs 23,000 crore of foreign direct investment in the last five years could dry up and about Rs 7,000 crore spent annually on ads, data centres, sponsorships and cyber security would vanish overnight. Warning of unintended consequences, the minister said, 'Bans don't stop addiction or suicides. Instead, they push users to unregulated offshore platforms worth Rs 8.2 lakh crore annually where government has no control at all. 'Security risks: Unregulated sites ensure money laundering, terror financing, data theft. Even FATF and Rashtriya Raksha University warn against such risks.' Noting that the Supreme Court is still deciding whether the Centre or states have the power to regulate, Kharge questioned 'Why the rush to ban now?' He said prohibition is not the solution and called for regulating skill-based platforms, enforcing IT Rules, 2021, and whitelisting legitimate operators. 'A well-balanced regulation will ensure jobs, revenue, safer users, national security and global innovation,' he said, cautioning that 'a blanket ban will not only lead to revenue loss, but will give rise to illegal markets that might threaten national security and, of course, there will be a huge innovation setback. Regulation is the way forward.' The proposed promotion and regulation of online gaming bill, cleared by the Union Cabinet on Tuesday, prohibits online money gaming or its ads, and prescribes imprisonment or fine, or both, for those offering or advertising them, as it seeks to differentiate such games from eSports or online social games, according to a source. 30-year-old suspected Pakistani spy detained in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer
A 30-year-old man, suspected of spying for Pakistan, was detained by military intelligence (MI) in Rajasthan's Jaisalmer and later handed over to Kotwali police. Following the examination of his mobile phone for suspicious activity, Khan was detained by military intelligence (MI) personnel and handed over to Kotwali police on Tuesday night, said officials. During questioning, he reportedly 'admitted to having relatives in Pakistan.' Khan is expected to be presented before the joint interrogation centre (JIC), where multiple security agencies will carry out further questioning, officials added. This is the fourth suspected spy case in Jaisalmer this month. On August 13, a contractual manager at a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) guest house near the Chandan Field Firing Range was also arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan's intelligence agency, ISI. According to Rajasthan CID (security), Mahendra Prasad, a resident of Almora in Uttarakhand, 'was found to be in contact with Pakistani intelligence agency through social media and was allegedly passing on sensitive details about the movement of DRDO scientists and Army officers engaged in missile and weapons testing at the firing range.'

‘BJP using Nitish till polls, wants to form govt through backdoor'
New Delhi: Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar on Tuesday claimed that the BJP's sole agenda is to use Nitish Kumar till the Bihar assembly elections and then 'discard' him as they want to install their own chief minister by forming the government through the 'backdoor' with the people of the state not ready to give direct leadership to the saffron party. In an interview with PTI on the sidelines of the 'Voter Adhikar Yatra', Kumar also launched a frontal attack on the Election Commission for 'speaking the language of the BJP' and said that while the poll body stated that there is no 'paksh (ruling side) or 'vipaksh (opposition)' for it, what it really needs is to be 'nishpaksh (impartial)'. 'We want to tell the people of Bihar that the rule of votes means the rule of the common people. If you (Commission) take away the right to vote, then naturally you are turning 'democracy' into 'demokursi',' said the Congress leader, who is accompanying Gandhi on his 1,300 km yatra that will pass through more than 20 districts in Bihar and culminate with a rally in Patna on September 1. Kumar also asserted that the misconception among alliance partners and opposition parties that the Congress gaining strength would not be conducive for them has been dispelled. He said it is in the Congress' DNA to take everyone along, and that is why it has successfully run alliance governments, and that is now clear to everyone. On whether the Mahagathbandhan would be able to form the government, the Congress leader said that in the last election, there was a difference of only 12,000 votes between the two alliances, and therefore, it is not right to say that the NDA is in a good position. 'Amit Shah ji had earlier said that all doors have been closed for Nitish Kumar, but again he (Shah) joined Nitish Kumar. The BJP knows that it cannot get a majority on its own. The BJP's only agenda is to use Nitish Kumar till the elections and then discard him to install their own chief minister,' Kumar said. 'People of Bihar are still not ready to give direct leadership to the BJP, so there is an attempt to form the government through the backdoor. The more awareness we can spread and take these issues to the public, the more chances there are to form the Mahagathbandhan government,' he said. Speaking about the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, which the opposition has been vehemently protesting against, Kumar said the 'crisis' has arisen because the Election Commission has created doubts in the minds of the people through its working methods. He said that when Rahul Gandhi held a press conference with evidence and put forward the facts, then the Election Commission said there is a problem and an SIR is being done to correct it. He asked under whose pressure the EC was refusing to take any action over the evidence provided by Gandhi, and how the language of the poll panel became the same as that of the BJP.
