Lucky Daye, Luke James and Miles Caton joined forces to pay homage to one of music's late icons and sonic architects in Quincy Jones, who died at age 91 in November.
Daye, James and Caton's performance was short yet sweet, as they delivered a soothing rendition of the sultry 'The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite)' as part of the in memoriam segment at the 2025 BET Awards.

Daye showcased his vocal range and did his best Al B. Sure impersonation while covering the 1989 classic, which landed on Q's Back on the Block album, before passing the baton to James and the Sinners actor.
The in memoriam tribute also featured James Earl Jones, Nikki Giovanni, Wanda Smith, Tito Jackson, DJ Clark Kent, Roy Ayers and Lou Donaldson.
Fans on social media seemed to want more from the tribute to the legendary producer. 'Now they know that Quincy tribute was not nearly enough,' one person wrote to X. Another added: 'Wait… that was it for the Quincy Jones tribute???'
Lucky Daye, who has long been a fan of Jones', recalled a conversation he had with the late music dignitary while paying his condolences to Q following his death. 'I told Quincy that idgi be I move, sing n create w love but I'm homeless w nothin,' Daye wrote to his IG Story in November. 'He said f— love, yk theory? I said yea, then my no guidance having empathetic a— needed to hear that. Forever in my heart.'
Prior to the 2025 BET Awards, the Grammy Awards and Oscars earlier this year each delivered star-studded tribute performances to Quincy Jones.

Morgan Wallen's Latest Chart Feat Proves His Streaming Power

It's now been two months since Morgan Wallen released his latest album, I'm the Problem. In the weeks since that huge full-length arrived, the project has continued to dominate a number of Billboard charts, while the dozens of songs featured on its tracklist have remained massively popular. I'm the Problem continues to sell well, but the lengthy collection is performing especially well on streaming platforms. Millions of plays per week translate to incredible success on some of Billboard's streaming-only tallies, especially the one that's focused entirely on country music. Morgan Wallen Dominates the Country Streaming Songs Chart On the current edition of the Country Streaming Songs chart, Wallen occupies the highest four spaces — all with tracks from I'm the Problem. He has managed this feat before, so while it's not exactly historic, it is impressive that the country singer-songwriter has repeated the accomplishment months after the album's debut. "What I Want" Still at No. 1 After 10 Weeks "What I Want," Wallen's collaboration with Tate McRae, holds at No. 1 yet again. In the 10 weeks that the duet has spent on the Country Streaming Songs chart, it has yet to slip from the highest position. Both "Just in Case" and "I'm the Problem" are steady at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, though both have previously conquered the ranking as well. Wallen manages to own the entire top four, as "I Got Better" swaps spots with "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" by Shaboozey. "I Got Better" returns to its all-time peak of No. 4, while "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" dips to No. 5, which is still a notable placement for a tune that has now spent 67 weeks on the Country Streaming Songs chart. Morgan Wallen Claims 11 Smashes Looking at the entirety of the top 10, Wallen occupies 60% of all available real estate. "I Had Some Help" – one of his collaborations with Post Malone, which fronted the latter act's first country full-length, F-1 Trillion – and Wallen's own "20 Cigarettes" are steady at Nos. 7 and 9, respectively. Wallen currently claims 11 spaces on the 25-rung Country Streaming Songs chart, with a mix of new releases from I'm the Problem as well as older tunes like "Last Night" and "Cowgirls" with Ernest.

‘Die With A Smile' Rewrites Records For Bruno Mars And Lady Gaga

Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga continue to live inside the top 10 on the Hot 100 with 'Die With a Smile,' which is not just a hit, but one of the sturdiest pop smashes in recent memory. The tune is nearing its first year on Billboard's most competitive songs tally, and with each frame the collaboration holds on, it establishes important new positions within the discographies of the two stars who took the track into the stratosphere. This week, 'Die With a Smile' becomes a historic win yet again for both Gaga and Mars, though in different ways. 'Die With a Smile' Beats 'Just the Way You Are' With 49 weeks on the Hot 100 already to its name, 'Die With a Smile' breaks out of a tie with another track in Mars's discography and stands alone as his third-longest-charting hit ever. Last frame, the Grammy-winning duet was matched with 'Just the Way You Are,' the cut that introduced Mars to the general public and became a multiweek No. 1 on the all-encompassing ranking. 'Die With a Smile' Will Soon Tie 'That's What I Like' In a few weeks, 'Die With a Smile' will likely tie 'That's What I Like,' which spent 52 weeks — a complete year — on the Hot 100. Mars's longest-running success on the list remains 'Uptown Funk,' his collaboration with Mark Ronson. That track spent 56 weeks somewhere on the tally before slipping away. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars Could Chart For Months It's highly unlikely that 'Die With a Smile' will vanish from the Hot 100 in the next few weeks, as it's rare for a track that's been around for months and which is still a top 10 hit to suffer such a steep decline in popularity. Even if it descends outside the most important region on the ranking, 'Die With a Smile' will likely take its time dipping south of the top 20 — and it could be months before Gaga and Mars see their duet finally finish its time on the list. 'Die With a Smile' Vs. "Just Dance" As 'Die With a Smile' stands alone as Mars's third-longest-running Hot 100 hit, the track becomes Gaga's tune with the most weeks on the list to its credit. 'Die With a Smile' breaks its tie with 'Just Dance,' Gaga's introductory smash that also credits Colby O'Donis. That electronic dance-pop tune spent 48 frames on the Hot 100, and now it settles into the runner-up spot in her catalog.

Chappell Roan Says Next Album ‘Doesn't Exist Yet,' Could Take ‘At Least 5' Years to Finish

Chappell Roan fans are going to have to be patient while awaiting the star's sophomore album. The pop star has revealed that it could be several years before she completes a follow-up to 2023's The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. While speaking to Vogue in a piece published Monday (Aug. 4), Roan shared that he has no plans to accompany new single 'The Subway' with an LP any time soon. 'The second project doesn't exist yet,' she told the publication. 'There is no album. There is no collection of songs.' 'I'm not that type of writer that can pump it out … Even if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, every single day, that does not mean that you would get an album any faster.' It's not the first time Roan has touched on the fact that it could be a while before she completes her next full-length, though fans have at times been hopeful that it would come sooner as the Missouri native has released various tracks over the past year. On the first day of August, she dropped long-awaited ballad 'The Subway,' which followed March's Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit 'The Giver.' And last year, she released 'Good Luck, Babe!,' which would become her breakout single. In July, however, as Roan announced that she would be playing a series of pop-up shows in Los Angeles, Chicago and New York City, she told fans that she 'wanted the chance to do something special before going away to write the next album,' implying that she hadn't yet started the bulk of the work on a new LP. Though it sounds like the vocalist is going to take her time making CR2 perfect, it's hard to imagine how she could top Midwest Princess. Released in September 2023, the album slowly gained traction before reaching its peak at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in August the following year. It also earned Roan her first-ever Grammy, with the star taking home best new artist at February's awards. Amid the whirlwind of sudden global fame, Roan has been open about how her mental health has suffered, at one point speaking out against toxic fan behaviors. In her interview with Vogue, however, she said that she's finally learned how to balance her career with her personal life and well-being — and one important way of doing that has been deleting social media apps off her phone. That means that whenever her next album does arrive, it won't be informed by the scrolling world. 'I've never written an album where I don't have Instagram or anything,' she told the publication. 'The album process is purely, only mine. No one on TikTok gets to see it.'
