When is '28 Years Later' coming to streaming? Here's our best guess

Tom's Guide4 hours ago

Released decades after the second movie, "28 Years Later" sees original "28 Days Later" director Danny Boyle reuniting with writer Alex Garland to deliver a thrilling third installment of the post-apocalyptic horror saga.
The first in a planned trilogy, "28 Years Later" whisks us away to a remote community of British survivors living on the island of Lindisfarne. There, we meet 12-year-old Spike (Alfie Williams), who lives with his father, Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and ailing mother, Isla (Jodie Comer).
In the film, Spike embarks on a mission onto the British mainland — which is still under quarantine and overrun by terrifying monsters infected with the Rage Virus — and this journey brings him up close with the horrors that lie beyond the comforts of his humble Northumbrian home.
It's a thrilling and frequently surprising watch, and has seriously impressed viewers to date (it's 89% on Rotten Tomatoes) and made a splash at the box office. Despite releasing just days ago at the time of writing, it's already raked in $60 million worldwide (via BoxOfficeMojo).
That's great news for the franchise, though it does mean we'll probably be waiting a little while for the as-yet-unconfirmed "28 Years Later" streaming date.
Nevertheless, if you're waiting to watch the movie from the comfort of your own home, here's my best guess at when "28 Years Later" might come to streaming services.
Currently, the only way to watch "28 Years Later" is by seeing it on the big screen.
Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.
It recently opened in theaters on Friday, June 20, so we'll be waiting a while before it comes to streaming. And unless Sony Pictures' release strategy changes, it'll first arrive on premium video-on-demand (PVOD) storefronts.
At the time of writing, we don't have a confirmed "28 Years Later" streaming date, nor a PVOD digital release date, either. However, that won't prevent me from guessing when the post-apocalyptic sequel might come to streaming.
We know that Sony Pictures releases come to Netflix, so that's where "28 Years Later" will eventually make its streaming debut. And while we don't have an official date, I'd guess that "28 Years Later" will come to streaming services at some point this fall, likely September or October.
That's based on the average 3-4 month wait for Sony's movies to come to streaming. For example, "Venom: The Last Dance" came to Netflix on February 25, four months after its theatrical release in October 2024.
Similarly, "Kraven the Hunter" came to the streamer in March 2025, three months after its theatrical release, and we waited four months for "Saturday Night" to land on Netflix back in January.
Of course, this is still just a guess, but as soon as we get an official "28 Years Later" streaming date, we'll be sure to share it here, so keep checking back. And if you're looking for Netflix recommendations while you wait for "28 Years Later" to arrive, be sure to check out our round-up of the best Netflix movies you should be streaming right now.

Raducanu opens up about ‘genuine connection' with old friend Alcaraz

Emma Raducanu says her upcoming mixed doubles partnership with Carlos Alcaraz is a reflection of the meaningful, friendly connection the pair made as they were rising up the rankings at the start of their careers. 'It is nice and I think, for all of us, we really value those connections that we had from when we were young,' Raducanu said. 'Because when you become a bit more known or a bit more successful, you just find yourself reverting back to people you knew from a young age and because that's a real genuine connection, because it becomes very busy and you have a lot more friends – but the ones that you've known for a long time mean a lot more to you.' Advertisement Raducanu and Alcaraz, both 22, will compete together in the US Open mixed doubles tournament in August, which has been revamped controversially this year in order to spotlight the top players. The event will be played in a streamlined two-day format during the week before the US Open. Raducanu says they first got to know each other at Wimbledon in 2021 and they forged a friendly connection during their respective breakout runs at the US Open that year. Related: Alcaraz beats Lehecka to extend win streak and regain crown as king of Queen's Club 'I remember he beat Stef [Tsitsipas] in the third round and it was like a big win, his breakout win on a big stage and it was really cool to kind of, I guess, go through that tournament together and then I kept going through the US Open, but we were staying in touch for the whole time. Yeah, it's nice. We have a good relationship still. He's obviously overtaken me a lot, but it's nice that we have that from a while ago.' A few days after their partnership was announced to significant fanfare, Raducanu opted to catch a glimpse of Alcaraz at Queen's Club during his semi-final win against Roberto Bautista Agut, an appearance that generated even more headlines. 'I saw some really cool drop volleys and I was like: 'Yes, let's save some of that!' But he's got plenty of magic to bring to New York. But it was just, I was having the day off on Saturday and I was with my friends and we were like: 'Let's go to Queen's [Club] and watch the tennis,' and then we went out and to the River Cafe in the evening. It was a super nice evening and then I just came here on Sunday.' Advertisement For the time being, Raducanu has more serious challenges to focus on than a glorified exhibition event. Her solid start to the grass court season at Queen's Club, where she reached the quarter-finals and re-established herself as the British No 1, was soured by further issues with back spasms, which have troubled her on numerous occasions this year. Raducanu withdrew from the Berlin Open last week. 'It's OK,' she said. 'I'm still managing it, to be honest. I have good days and bad days with it. I trained a fair bit last week in London and it was good. I was getting a lot of treatment and then woke up pretty stiff at the weekend, took a day off and then trained yesterday and today, but it needs a lot of work and it is up and down. So I'm just trying to manage it as best as I can.' Raducanu, the No 7 seed, will face Ann Li in the first round at Eastbourne, her final tournament before Wimbledon begins next week. She says she is doing everything she can to ensure that she is in top physical shape and form for her biggest tournament of the year. 'Needles, soft tissue, some muscle stimulation stuff, taping, everything,' Raducanu said. 'It's just ongoing, but it's OK. It seems to be OK today.' The British No 5 Dan Evans battled back from a set down to defeat Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round of the Lexus Eastbourne Open. The 35-year-old, who has received a wild card for Wimbledon, triumphed 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 against the Serbian world No 49. He will face the American second seed Tommy Paul – the 2023 runner-up – in round two. Advertisement Evans, ranked 170 in the world, arrived at Devonshire Park having last week celebrated the best grass-court win of his career with victory against the world No 13 Frances Tiafoe in the first round at Queen's Club. 'For whatever time I have left, it's a work in progress,' he told the BBC. 'Me and my coach have been working hard on certain things, like everybody else does, but sometimes it takes time.' In the women's draw, the British No 5 Fran Jones registered a straight-sets victory against the Belgian world No 70 Greet Minnen. The 24-year-old wild-card entrant progressed 6-4, 7-5 in 1hr 48min.

Rod Stewart Reveals The 1 Reason His Trump Friendship Is Done: 'I Can't Anymore'

Grammy-winning singer Rod Stewart says he can't be friends with President Donald Trump anymore, citing his administration's ongoing support for the brutal Israeli military campaign in Gaza that has killed more than 55,000 Palestinians since October 2023 according to the Gaza Health Ministry. Stewart recently sat down for an interview with Radio Times to promote his upcoming set at the Glastonbury Festival, only to tear into Trump, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu — after being asked if he still considers Trump a friend. 'No, I can't any more,' Stewart told the outlet. 'As long as he's selling arms to the Israelis — and he still is. How's that war ever gonna stop? And we should stop selling them as well. What did Starmer say yesterday? They dropped the talks on trade?' 'What fucking difference is that gonna make?' the singer continued. 'Someone's gotta do something. What Netanyahu is doing to the Palestinians is exactly what happened to the Jews. It's annihilation, and that's all he wants to do — get rid of them all.' 'I don't know how they sleep at night,' Stewart added. This isn't the first time Stewart has criticized Trump. The rock icon reportedly said ahead of the 2016 election that he didn't think Trump was 'presidential,' called him a 'prick' in 2020 for pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords and ridiculed him onstage last year. 'I used to go to his Christmas parties,' Stewart told Radio Times. 'He's always been a bit of a man's man. I liked him for that. But he didn't, as far as I'm concerned, treat women very well. But since he became president, he became another guy.' 'Somebody I didn't know,' he reflected. The singer mocked Trump last year during a Las Vegas concert ahead of the 2024 election for 'turning orange,' as Trump made the racist claim that then-Democratic nominee, former Vice President Kamala Harris, 'happened to turn Black' before announcing her run. Stewart is a model railway enthusiast at home, but also politically active in his spare time. In 2017, he covered all necessary expenses for a group of children with disabilities — whose parents couldn't raise enough money to travel to Washington, D.C. — to protest a GOP health care bill that included proposed cuts to Medicaid. 'I'm neither a Democrat nor a Republican, but I am a father,' he said at the time.

Netflix's 'Quarterback' trailer stars Joe Burrow, Jared Goff and Kirk Cousins ahead of season 2 release date

Netflix's "Quarterback" series is back, and some big names agreed to take part in the documentary. Cincinnati Bengals' Joe Burrow, Detroit Lions' Jared Goff and Atlanta Falcons' Kirk Cousins will be the focus of the second season of the program, Netflix revealed in a trailer Monday. The trailer features Burrow talking about the longevity of the great quarterbacks, Goff talking about living up to high expectations after leaving the Los Angeles Rams and Cousins taking about the Atlanta Falcons taking Michael Penix in the NFL Draft. It marks the second appearance on the program by Cousins, who was featured on the first season of the series. At the time, Cousins was still a member of the Minnesota Vikings. The first season of "Quarterback" focused on Cousins leading the Vikings to a first-place finish in the NFC North. Advertisement While Burrow and Goff should provide excellent moments, Cousins may be the most intriguing quarterback featured in season 2. After sustaining an Achilles injury during the 2023 season, Cousins joined the Falcons on a four-year, $180 million deal in the offseason. He struggled in his return, throwing 18 touchdowns against an NFL-leading 16 interceptions. That performance got Cousins benched in favor of Penix during the final three games of the regular season. "Quarterback" will presumably cover that entire storyline, and feature never-before-seen footage of Cousins reacting and responding to those developments. Advertisement The first season of "Quarterback" was received well by fans, as it featured Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, then-Falcons QB Marcus Mariota and Cousins. But Omaha Productions, which produces the series, had trouble finding quarterbacks willing to be filmed for season 2 of the program. As a result, Omaha Productions pivoted to "Receiver" ahead of the 2024 NFL season. After a year away, Omaha Productions was able to convince Burrow, Cousins and Goff to take the plunge. With the three quarterbacks announced, Netflix also dropped the release date for "Quarterback" on Monday. The program will air July 8 on Netflix. It's unclear how many episodes will make up season 2. The first season of "Quarterback" lasted eight episodes.
