Michigan State football had a big-time addition to its 2026 class on Thursday, which resulted in a lot of praise from the fanbase and media.
Four-star offensive lineman Collin Campbell committed to Michigan State on Thursday afternoon, becoming the No. 11 commit in the Spartans' 2026 class thus far. Campbell picked the Spartans over offers from 24 other programs, including the likes of Utah, Arkansas, BYU, Arizona, Cal, Kansas State, Nebraska, Minnesota, Duke, Purdue, Stanford, Washington, Texas A&M, Oklahoma State and UCLA.
Campbell is the highest-rated commit in the Spartans' class and ranks as the No. 33 offensive tackle in the 2026 class. This was simply a massive recruiting battle win for the Spartans, and one the fans were very much pumped about when the news broke.

Spartans listed as new favorite to beat out Wisconsin for priority 3-star WR prospect

Spartans listed as new favorite to beat out Wisconsin for priority 3-star WR prospect It's a battle between Michigan State and Wisconsin for a notable wide receiver prospect right now, and it appears things may be swaying in the Spartans' favor all of a sudden. A few weeks ago it looked like three-star wide receiver Zachary Washington was heading to Madison, Wisc. to continue his football career, but the latest intel from On3 suggests things may have shifted in the Spartans' favor. While Washington -- who hails from Wheaton, Ill. -- still has crystal ball predictions in favor of Wisconsin on 247Sports from last week, the Spartans are now listed as the clear-cut favorite to land his commitment on competitor recruiting site On3. On On3, Michigan State currently holds an 85% chance to land his commitment, while Wisconsin is only at 8% and West Virginia at 3%. Washington is a three-star prospect with an 87 recruiting rating on 247Sports. He ranks as the No. 111 wide receiver in the class and No. 883 overall prospect in the country. He is considered one of the top priorities at wide receiver for the Spartans in the 2026 class. Michigan State hosted Washington for an official visit last weekend, which came one week after he visited Wisconsin. He will reportedly take an official visit to West Virginia this weekend as well. There is no known commitment date for Washington at this time, but it sounds like these are the three teams he is focused on within his recruiting. So with all three official visits completed after this weekend, we could certainly see a college announcement coming in the next few weeks. Michigan State has been hot on the recruiting trail lately with eight commits since the start of June. The Spartans have seen their class move up the charts thanks to this latest flurry with Michigan State now ranking No. 34 nationally at the posting of this article. The addition of Washington to this class would only further this surge from the Spartans on the recruiting trail. To coach at an institution like this and be part of the East Lansing community is a privilege and an awesome responsibility." #GoGreen — Michigan State Hockey (@MSU_Hockey) June 13, 2025 Michigan State hockey has extended head coach Adam Nightingale the school announced on Friday. The school release didn't include details on the official contract extension for Nightingale, but according to Detroit Free Press reporter Chris Solari this will be a new deal that runs through 2030. This new deal is a five-year rollover contract that was officially approved by the Michigan State University Board of Trustees on Friday. "I'm appreciative of the support the Board of Trustees and President Kevin Guskiewicz have demonstrated with today's announcement of a new contract for Adam Nightingale, helping to ensure he leads the Spartan hockey program for many years to come," J Batt, Michigan State Vice President and Director of Athletics said in a press release. "Under Coach Nightingale's guidance, Michigan State has returned to its position as one of the elite programs in college hockey, creating incredible excitement both within the hockey community and throughout all of our loyal supporters. Coming off back-to-back Big Ten Championships, there's a buzz that even greater things are on the horizon. Personally, I can't wait to experience the excitement of the sold-out crowds at Munn Ice Arena this winter, in what could be a truly special season." Nightingale is entering his fourth season at Michigan State, where he has experienced a ton of success. Nightingale has quickly brought the Spartans back into the national spotlight of college hockey with back-to-back Big Ten championships and No. 1 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans are expected to be a top five team again next year as well. "My family and I are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to represent Michigan State University," Nightingale said in a press release. "To coach at an institution like this and be part of the East Lansing community is a privilege and an awesome responsibility. The support our program receives, from President Kevin Guskiewicz, the Board of Trustees, Director of Athletics J Batt and the entire Spartan family, will never be taken for granted, and we make sure our players and staff understand that on a daily basis.
