What are the odds the Texans trade for All-Pro Micah Parsons?
In fact, one should actually convince a lowly Texans fan that it's possible, beat the house and cash in when he lands elsewhere down the line.
While Parsons did request a trade from the Cowboys after contract negotiations broke down ahead of training camp, Dallas has made it clear he's not on the market. And yes, the Texans are in a win-now mode with Super Bowl aspirations behind Pro Bowl quarterback C.J. Stroud, but given the fact that Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter are already on staff, they're likely out of the running.
Vegas seems to agree. According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Texans don't even have odds to be Parsons' next team. Even of the 10 teams listed by the sportsbook, none of them were going to feature Houston since Anderson is still on his rookie contract.
The 10 teams listed for Parson are: the Cowboys (-300), Philadelphia Eagles (+1000), New England Patriots (+1000), Los Angeles Chargers (+1500), Los Angeles Rams (+1800), Arizona Cardinals (+1600) San Francisco 49ers (+1600), Carolina Panthers (+2200), New York Jets (+2500) and Las Vegas Raiders (+2500)
Again, Houston doesn't really need another starting edge rusher since its already paying top dollar to Hunter and soon will have to cash up the dough for Anderson next offseason. However, if Houston thought giving up Hunter for Parsons would benefit both sides, a package could be built around the four-time Pro Bowler to land the elite pass-rusher.
Then again, would Dallas even consider that deal? Part of the reason the Cowboys are in the slump is because they don't want to pay top dollar for Parsons ahead of the season. Adding Hunter, who is currently making the most in annual salary among defensive ends, would simply be upgrading on age and salary but nothing else.
All things considered, this is a fool's bet for anyone who seriously thinks the Texans are even in the running to trade for Parsons. But, anything is possible in the NFL, right?

The Dolphins' Patrick Paul has dominated during training camp. Here's why
Patrick Paul loves one-on-ones. You can tell by the way the 6-foot-7-inch, 326-pound tackle smiles wide when asked about the drill. 'One-on-ones was always my favorite thing coming in,' Paul said Saturday. 'It's a way to work your craft in the pass setting and then just a way to compete. So every rep, I'm competing and I can't let any one get past me.' And through the first five days of padded practices, virtually no one has done just that. The second-round tackle has been almost unstoppable during one-on-ones, erasing defenders from Bradley Chubb to Chop Robinson like it's nothing. Paul's growth could be a catalyst to the Dolphins' offensive success. 'If you can stop someone in one-on-ones, you can definitely stop him in team periods,' Paul said. The 2024 second-round pick's development has even earned him praise from coaches, mentors and players alike. 'He's been on a steady confidence climb and it was very helpful getting ingratiated into the NFL game and being able to play behind Terron Armstead – one of the best to do it,' coach Mike McDaniel said Friday, later adding that 'Players on the team, he has earned respect being as intentional and deliberate as any player on the team. 'Honestly it was just fun – getting out in space, working on the timing of it but then once you're out there and the play goes you're just trying to take anything out,' Paul said, slying smiling and putting a finger to his lips when asked if it was his infraction. 'I don't even know. I don't even know.' Despite the penalty, Waddle still praised the second-year tackle. 'It was good,' Waddle said Friday. 'Paul is a great block. He's having a tremendous camp, so any time I've got a big guy like that in front of me it definitely slows down defenders and just getting behind him as a shield, go out there and make a play.' With Armstead's offseason retirement, Paul was always believed to be the five-time Pro Bowler's successor. The 337 or so snaps in relief of Armstead during his rookie season in 2024, however, yielded subpar results. 'There's some things that we thought that he's going to get some really good learned lessons from, growing from good things he did blocking-wise,' Dolphins offensive coordinator Frank Smith said in Oct. 2024 after Paul's first start. 'It's just ultimately when you start off the season and it's not going too well overall for the offense, it's all of us together getting better. And I know he's going to approach it and he's been really diligent with the guys and working hard, and I think overall all of us will continue to grow from this point in the season.' Experience, though, is sometimes the best teacher and it looks like that small sample size has already begun to pay dividends. 'He's been very intentional,' center Aaron Brewer said Sunday. 'Since the season ended last year, I've spent a lot of time with Pat. So our grind, his mentality, his work, doing two-a-days, three-a-days, stuff like that, it's different. Not the average athlete or just person is doing stuff like that, so how he's coming into Year Two, I love where he's at. His mentality, his work ethic, I love it all.' The 23-year-old has certainly showcased that growth during training camp, leaving little doubt about who will hopefully be a mainstay at left tackle for years to come.

Jared Allen calls kids his ‘greatest accomplishment' at Hall of Fame induction
For 12 years, Jared Allen was one of the top defensive ends in the National Football League. During his time as a professional football player, Allen was a five-time Pro Bowler and a four-time All-Pro selection. He completed 136 sacks in his career and as a result of all of that, Allen was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year. On Aug. 2, Allen and three other former NFL players, received their gold Hall of Fame jackets and made a speech. At the end of his speech, Allen said if his football accolades are all he is remembered for, then he failed. 'I'm here to tell you two, you are my greatest accomplishments,' Allen told his daughters, Brinley and Lakelyn, who were sitting at a table looking up at him during his speech. 'When I get called home to heaven one day, if all they talk about is this gold jacket, my career, then I failed miserably as a father, a husband and a friend. You two are my legacy,' he continued, as his daughters got emotional. 'You are both so talented, and I cannot wait to see what you two decide to do to conquer this world,' he said in a direct message to his girls. 'So always put Christ first. Find your why, dream big dreams and always pursue greatness in whatever you do. Thank you all, and may God bless you all.' Allen began his professional football career with the Chiefs in 2004 before he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings before the 2008 season, where he played the majority of his career until 2013. Allen would go on to play with the Bears and with the Panthers before retiring in 2016. In a message to the Vikings during his speech, Allen said, 'As a Norseman by blood, because I am Norwegian, it was only fitting I became a Viking.' 'The entire Wilf family, I don't think I can every truly express the depths of my gratitude to your entire organization,' he continued. 'I'm a firm believer that God puts people in your life at the appropriate times, and what you did for the growth of my career, and more importantly, the people that you surrounded me with in that organization helped me grow as a man, that is why I will forever call the Vikings my home.' In the end, Allen said he likes to believe that the Hall of Fame jackets are gold in color because gold is a 'reflective medal,' and this jacket in particular symbolizes all the people in his life that helped him get to where he is today. 'I might be the one wearing this jacket, but I hope every time you see this jacket you see yourself.'
