Viral: Hakeem Jeffries's 'hilarious' photoshop has netizens laughing over his editing skills
It seems social media peer pressure is also something that needs to be studied. And while all the popular faces in the world might go on and on about disassociating one's self-image from social media and not comparing to others, the reality is far beyond their words and too close to their worlds.
Case in point, Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries whose failed photoshopping of his own photo is making rounds on social media and has people judging his editing skills. The New York Democrat shared an image of himself from Brooklyn with the caption "Home Sweet Home".
In the image, he could be seen leaning on a bench that is weirdly warped around his hips. Of course, the sharp-eyed netizens quickly picked up on the slight editing and began questioning Jeffries in the comment section.
"Bro why did you photoshop your hips? Or are park benches in BK wavy like that?" asked a person in the post's comments.

Jeffries' photo even reached X where others added their views on his warped photoshop. "Comedy Gold.😂😭😂 Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries just posted a hilariously edited photo—he shrank his waist so much, the bench behind him curved like it was trying to escape the Photoshop."

Jeffries was also called out by fitness influencer John Dorsey, popularly known as Goob, who regularly spotlights people who edit their images to misrepresent their body shapes on social media. He commented how one would "have to be a massive clown" to be a well-known politician posting such a photo and not expecting people to notice.
'Hakeem, it's OK to be a short king – you don't have to edit your photos to make yourself look taller. In fact, it's more embarrassing than just being a short king,' he said in a video posted to Instagram.
Many on the internet questioned Jeffries' choice to do so, writing, "If you're a grown man willing to lie about your height, what else are you willing to lie about?"
While Jeffries has not yet reacted to the controversy, his actions are being noted online. For people who have the ability to influence the future of those who trust them, accountability and adherence to their statements and viewpoints are vital. And while his photo may have been a random share on social media, it does raise the question of how deeply and easily anyone succumbs to the pressure of looking 'perfect'?
