Shefali Jariwala Fell For Parag Tyagi After Painful Divorce With Harmeet Singh: 'There Was Mental Violence'

News1829-06-2025
Shefali Jariwala once opened up about her past marriage with Harmeet Singh, emotional abuse, and how she found love again with Parag Tyagi after walking away.
Shefali Jariwala, who rose to fame with the iconic music video Kaanta Laga in the early 2000s, passed away at the age of 42. A popular name in the world of entertainment, Shefali would often make headlines for her beautiful photos with her husband, Parag Tyagi. However, not many know that this was her second stint in marriage. Before she met actor Parag, Shefali had already lived through a difficult chapter in her personal life. The Kaanta Laga girl was previously married to music composer Harmeet Singh from the Meet Brothers duo. He is known for composing songs such as Main Tera Boyfriend, Baby Doll, Pink Lips, Radhe Radhe, and others.
She met Harmeet after Kaanta Laga made her famous and later worked with Meet Brothers on songs like Pyaar Humein Kis Mode Pe Le Aaya. The two tied the knot in 2004, but their relationship came to an end five years later under troubling circumstances. Their divorce made headlines in 2009 after Shefali accused Harmeet of domestic abuse. Speaking about that period in an interview with Times Now, she had once reflected on the lack of emotional support in the marriage, which eventually affected her mental health.
'It is very important to understand that you are not being appreciated. Not every kind of violence is physical. There is a lot of mental violence that also happens, and you are very unhappy in your life," she had said.
Following the divorce, life gave Shefali a second chance at love. She met television actor Parag Tyagi through a mutual friend at a dinner gathering. At the time, she was single and open to meeting someone new.
'We really liked each other a lot and hit it off instantly. Parag and I are very similar and different in many ways. I think we kind of balance each other out," she told the publication recalling their first meeting.
Parag Tyagi is known for acting in Pavitra Rishta and Jodha Akbar. He also took part in the dance reality show Nach Baliye with Shefali in 2012, where he eventually proposed her.

Kriti Sanon Celebrates 8 Years Of Bareilly Ki Barfi With ‘Sweet' Teaser

Last Updated: To mark the 8th anniversary of Bareilly Ki Barf, Kriti Sanon and Ayushmann Khurana have shared a special teaser from the film, much to the joy of their fans. Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao's much-loved rom-com drama Bareilly Ki Barfi has completed eight years since its release. The film continues to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences for its humorous yet realistic storyline and the heartwarming performances. Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the film was not only a commercial success at the box office but also received wide appreciation from critics and went on to earn several award nominations, making it one of the most memorable films of 2017. To mark the 8th anniversary of the film's release, Kriti Sanon and Ayushmann Khurana have shared a special teaser from the film, much to the joy of their fans. Kriti Sanon and Ayushmann Khurrana Shared Special Teaser Taking to Instagram, Kriti Sanon and Ayushmann Khurrana shared a short video clip instantly transporting fans back to the world of Bitti, Chirag and Pritam Vidrohi. Along with the heartfelt video, Kriti wrote, 'It's been 8 years to my sweetest film." and we couldn't agree more. Kriti Celebrates The Milestone With Real Barfi Adding to the celebrations, Kriti Sanon delighted fans with a fun Instagram story. She was seen holding a box of Barfi and enjoying a piece with a playful expression, perfectly capturing the essence of the film. Alongside the clip, she wrote, 'Toh phir Barfi ho jaaye?" while using the hit track Sweety Tera Drama from the movie, composed by Tanishk Bagchi. The cheerful post left fans smiling as they revisited the film's joyous memories. Is There Any Sequel to Bareilly Ki Barfi? Over the years, many fans have expressed their wish to see a sequel to Bareilly Ki Barfi to once again watch the trio of Bitti, Chirag and Pritam Vidrohi on the big screen. However, director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari has firmly ruled out the possibility of making one. Speaking to Times Now, she explained that she believes the story had already reached a natural conclusion with the film's ending. The filmmaker shared, 'I'm not a very big fan of sequels, contrary to the fact I know that it is nice to have sequels because you always lap onto the past and move forward. But, a sequel has to be so good that it has to be better than your previous one. It has to surpass the expectations of the previous one and has to also be in the time and age of when you're telling that story. Bareilly Ki Barfi happened eight years back." She added, 'At that time, Lucknow and Bareilly were called midtowns. Now they're cities. A lot of things have changed in eight years. The roads are better, the way they dress has changed and the standard of living has improved. There's a lot of work and a lot of thinking. I am always very careful. Are you making sequels for the heck of making a sequel or you are doing it because you really want to make it and it does make sense?" Re-release of Bareilly Ki Barfi The love for Bareilly Ki Barfi has not dimmed even after eight years. The film, which originally hit theatres on August 18, 2017, made a grand comeback on February 7, when it was re-released in cinemas across India. The re-release allowed fans to relive the magic of the film on the big screen, and the response was filled with the same enthusiasm and affection that made the film a success during its initial run. Based on Nicolas Barreau's novel The Ingredients of Love, Bareilly Ki Barfi also featured stellar performances from Pankaj Tripathi and Seema Pahwa in pivotal roles. Ramayana: Amitabh Bachchan To Lend Voice As Narrator In Ranbir Kapoor, Yash Starrer?

As reported the actor will be lending his voice to the character Jatayu. However, an official confirmation is still awaited. Nitesh Tiwari's directorial Ramayana is one of the grandest projects in Indian cinema. The film already boasts a stellar cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. Amid this, a fresh report suggest that megastar Amitabh Bachchan will also be an integral part of the magnum opus—not just as a character but as its narrator. Times Now has quoted Mid-day report reading, 'We're exploring the idea of having Bachchan as the sutradhar. His voice adds gravitas that no one else can match. The makers are keen that the film opens with his voice. It's still at the discussion stage. While the clash is a concern, there will be ways to work it out on a creative level. Having him open the film and be the spiritual narrator will have a strong impact." The actor will lend his voice to the character Jatayu. Makers have finally unveiled the first look from the much-anticipated cinematic rendition of the epic, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor. On July 3, they shared the first looks of Ranbir, Sai Pallavi and Yash from the upcoming project. On July 3rd, 2025, the makers unveiled the epic universe with a global launch of Ramayana: The Introduction, setting the stage for the timeless battle between two of mythology's most iconic forces: Rama Vs Ravana. The launch was global, featuring fan screenings across nine Indian cities and a spectacular billboard takeover at Times Square, New York. Led by filmmaker-producer Namit Malhotra and co-produced by Yash, Ramayana unites a formidable team of Oscar-winning technicians, Hollywood's finest creators, and India's biggest names in acting and storytelling. It reimagines one of civilization's most powerful epics as a cutting-edge cinematic universe rooted in Indian culture and crafted for a global audience. Sunny Deol On Taking Up Hanuman's Role: Sunny revealed that he hasn't started filming yet but will begin work on the film 'very shortly." Talking about his emotions as he prepares for the epic role, he said, 'It will be exciting, it will be fun. It's going to be great, it's going to be beautiful." However, he admitted there is also nervousness that comes with portraying such a revered character, 'See, nervousness or fear – that factor is there. But that's the beauty of it, because you have to find within yourself how you're going to take up the challenge and how you're going to live up to it. And you're getting the opportunity to do it, and I'm very sure Amit, the producer, they're doing a great job of it." Ramayana: Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film boasts a star-studded cast with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Produced by Madhu Mantena and Allu Aravind, Ramayana is shaping up to be one of the grandest projects ever attempted in Indian cinema. The first instalment, Ramayana: Part 1, is slated for a Diwali 2026 release, while the second chapter will follow in Diwali 2027. Earlier this year, Ranbir Kapoor too expressed his excitement, saying he was approaching the role with utmost sincerity and discipline, even altering his lifestyle to align with the spiritual responsibility of portraying Lord Ram. Meanwhile, Sunny's entry as Hanuman has further raised anticipation, given his towering screen presence and iconic 'dhai kilo ka haath" persona that audiences have long celebrated. With cutting-edge technology, a legendary mythological tale, and a dream ensemble cast, Ramayana is being touted as India's answer to Hollywood's epic franchises. As Sunny put it best, 'When it comes to the big screen, I'm sure there will be justice to everything, and people will feel satisfied and enjoy the whole film."
