Digital curricula rolled out for grades 1 to 12 in Omani schools
Spearheaded by Ministry of Education (MoE), in collaboration with BP Oman, the initiative was unveiled on Wednesday at a ceremony held under the patronage of H E Saeed bin Hamood al Mawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in the presence of H E Dr Madiha bint Ahmed al Shaibani, Minister of Education.
The school curricula digitisation project aims to convert textbooks and learning resources into interactive digital formats to enhance accessibility, promote self-learning and provide both students and teachers with updated educational tools.

He described the initiative as central to MoE's strategy to build an integrated, technology-based education system.
The rollout will take place in six phases, beginning with preparatory work to set educational and technical standards, followed by content analysis, development of educational scenarios and digital content production. A pilot phase will be conducted in selected schools before the material is made available on MoE's e-learning portal and the 'Noor' platform.
The digital material will support collaborative learning, improve academic performance, and broaden teaching and assessment methods. The digitisation initiative is also expected to equip students with essential digital and analytical skills for future employment.

MUSCAT: The continuous modernisation of the education system and the enhancement of digital transformation processes in distance education through the use of information and communication technology in teaching and learning represent a fundamental starting point for the Ministry of Education in the Sultanate of Oman, through the digital transformation process it is currently implementing. The Ministry of Education, represented by the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development, mentioned that the digitisation of the Omani curricula is part of an integrated digital transformation plan that aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040. The ministry seeks to transform curricula into interactive digital content that enhances modern learning methods and takes into account students' levels. This will contribute to improving academic achievement, developing self-learning and collaborative learning skills, and equipping students with future skills. This month, the Ministry of Education launched the 'Noor Educational Platform', an integrated electronic environment for managing teaching and learning processes. It enables students to view interactive digital content related to curricula and link them to learning outcomes, contributing to enhanced personalised education for students and reducing reliance on private tutoring. Furthermore, the Directorate-General of Curriculum Development is working to expand the use of quick response (QR) codes in new textbooks to link them to digital content, while continuously updating educational resources and teacher guides and making them available through the Education Technology website on the Education Portal. The website enables students and teachers to access interactive digital books, electronic versions of textbooks and educational films. The ministry is working to modernise the infrastructure of Oman's schools through a project to equip all primary school classes with interactive screens and increase Internet speed. This will ensure an integrated educational environment that promotes interactive learning.

Maseer and bp Oman Empower Omani Youth Through 'Discover Yourself' Program
Muscat: In partnership with bp Oman, Maseer concluded the first edition of its 'Discover Yourself' youth development programme which was held in the mountains of Jabal Al-Akhdar. The initiative gathered over 100 young Omanis from diverse backgrounds to engage in a transformative journey of self-reflection, leadership, and experiential learning. The programme represented a wide cross-section of Oman's youth, from university students to job seekers, with a focus on engaging individuals from certain governorates such as Ad Dhahirah and Musandam, with 107 total participants, in which approximately 50% were job seekers. 'Discover Yourself' was designed to strengthen essential life and career skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, and critical thinking, all within an immersive natural setting. Over the course of the programme, each participant rotated through various roles in group activities, and introduced them to health, safety, and environmental principles (HSE), reinforcing the value of responsible decision-making in real-world settings. Mohammed Al-Rawahi, CEO of Maseer, remarked: 'The programme 'Discover Yourself' which was designed for jobseekers, sponsored by bp Oman, was an experience filled with challenges for us at Maseer in terms of preparation, implementation and reaching to the targeted audience. However, despite the challenges, we were able to achieve great results, overcoming the expectations whereby the engagement with the programme was huge and inspiring.' ‘Mustaqil' seeks to foster entrepreneurship talents
The Youth Centre has initiated a programme codenamed 'Mustaqil' that emerges as a first national system to discover the entrepreneurship talents of young people and convert the skills into sources of income. The programme seeks to foster a culture of independent work and entrepreneurship among school students. It is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Riyada). The three-month programme, which began on July 7, will run until September 18. It is being implemented in 11 training institutions across the Sultanate of Oman. The institutions include Sohar University, the Junior Development Centre in Sur, Ibri Club, the Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah, the Youth Centre in Al Khuwair, A'Sharqiyah University in Ibra, Oman Across Ages Museum in Manah, 'Wali Hall' in Al Rustaq, the Special Economic Zone at Duqm and Khasab Sports Club. The programme targets 330 school students (male and female) of grades 10, 11 and 12 — at a rate of 30 participants from each governorate. The programme offers comprehensive professional and cultural training content that enhances the students' understanding of freelance work and provides them with the skills needed to provide digital services and deal with clients. 'Mustaqil' also coaches the students by enabling them to develop professional portfolios on freelance platforms. It inculcates early entrepreneurial thinking in the students so that they can establish viable small businesses. Samira al Tal'ee, Head of the Education Ministry's Entrepreneurship Department at the Career Guidance Centre, said that 'Mustaqil' programme constitutes a step forward in guiding students to associate academic education with practical reality. She added that, due to rapid economic developments, freelancing has become a major career path. She pointed out that 'Mustaqil' responds to this reality by developing early professional awareness and enabling students to convert their passion for business into practical sources of income. For her part, Halima al Balushi, Career Guidance Supervisor in Muscat Governorate, stressed the significance of the programme in promoting awareness about digital opportunities. The programme enables students to develop professional profiles on freelancing platforms, she explained. She pointed out that 'Mustaqil' is an interactive programme that helps students discover their skills in a stimulating and professional environment. The students enrolled in 'Mustaqil' expressed their satisfaction with the programme, which helped them gain confidence to practice entrepreneurial and financial activities. They also underlined the importance of the workshops that, they said, gave them early access to the job market, thanks to the proper orientation provided by 'Mustaqil' programme. The parents of the target students also acknowledged the programme's positive impact on their children. They affirmed that the programme enabled the students to make ideal use of their summer vacation, instilled confidence in them, enabled them to understand freelancing and artificial intelligence and provided them with good communication skills.
