Hollyoaks viewers say 'was never expecting that' as favourite killed off after 12 years

Daily Mirror2 days ago
Hollyoaks viewers were left gobsmacked as villager Robbie Roscoe was unexpectedly killed off in a bone-chilling twist which fans of the Channel 4 soap didn't see coming
Hollyoaks have confirmed Robbie Roscoe (Charlie Wernham) has been killed off after 12 years.

The fan favourite was held captive by Grace Black (Tamara Wall) for months after she believed he was an informant working for the police.

He was subsequently freed from captivity and resolved to leave the village, bidding farewell to his loved ones but it was soon revealed that, despite his apparent departure, he'd been taken prisoner by Jez Blake (Jeremy Sheffield) who held him captive in the shed.

Jez has been sharing his deepest, darkest secrets with the former nightclub owner. Despite his refusal to set Robbie free, the deranged gardener ultimately decided that he wanted to be a better person after chat with daughter Sienna Blake (Anna Passey).
He allowed Robbie to walk, believing he'd have a chance to reunite with Vicky Grant (Anya Lawrence), who had been trying to get in touch with her fiancé.

However, during Wednesday's (August 6) episode, Robbie walked into Vicky's line of sight but she couldn't see him and walked through Robbie, who subsequently vanished.
It was later revealed in a twist that Robbie was a figment of Jez's imagination, with a twisted flashback confirming that he'd been murdered by serial killer Jez shortly after his capture.

Opening up about the jaw-dropping twist to social media, one fan penned: "My jaw is to the floor after the end of this mornings episode. Was never expecting that."
Another added: "I was so shocked as well can't believe Robbie is dead. Really thought he was alive." A third person said: "was definitely not expecting that # Hollyoaks could've cried."
A fourth wrote: "Shocked about Robbie, was hoping he would have survived. I really hope that scumbag Jez gets his comeuppance soon. Surely they're not gonna drag this on for too long # hollyoaks."

Meanwhile, Sienna had been given reason to suspect that there was more to her dad's lies than meets the eye and, after being tipped off by an unsuspecting Dodger Savage (Danny Mac) about Dilly Harcourt's (Emma Johnsey-Smith) alleged role in the murder of Ian Stone, she made it her mission to dig up the truth.
Her entire world imploded as she uncovered Jez's secrets, realising that he was to blame for the deaths of Bobby Costello (Zak Sutcliffe) and Robbie Roscoe.
The flashback during the latest episode, which is available to watch on Channel 4 streaming, appears to indicate that Robbie was long dead by the time the aforementioned scenes unfolded, meaning that Jez has been hallucinating this whole time.
Actor Charlie Wernham made his debut as Robbie in 2013 before leaving in 2016. However, he reprised his role last year.

The pensioner from Windsor in Berkshire is described online as an actor and retired pilot. He has been in custody for six months and spent time in a mental health facility. Appleton was due to stand trial, with special measures put in place to mitigate Friel's "fear and distress" while giving evidence. However, this was called off after he performed a U-turn and admitted to stalking the Channel 4 star. Yesterday, Reading Crown Court heard Appleton has been diagnosed with a condition called erotomania, along with bipolar. Erotomania is characterised by a person's delusions of another person being in love with them, and usually affects women rather than men. It usually fixates on someone of a higher social status or a celebrity, but can extend to someone who is fictional or has died. A psychiatrist told the court Appleton would need to be monitored by mental health professionals and he was unable to say if his fixation would ever end. Judge Alan Blake asked probation services to prepare a report on Appleton, and said he had a 'lack of full understanding and acknowledgement of the impact of his behaviour on the victim'. He said: 'It is more likely [that] consistent treatment will help him to contain his feeling and reduce the risk of stalking. It is plain that, on a number of occasions, Mr Appleton has indicated that he does not think he is unwell or needs to take his medication and has desisted in so doing.' Appleton was granted bail on the condition he not contact the actress or enter the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. The judge declined to allow him to stay at an address in France, instead ordering him to remain at a family member's home in Suffolk. The pensioner is due to be sentenced on September 18. She went on to star as Charlotte "Chuck" Charles in the ABC comedy series Pushing Daisies. In 2017, she won the International Emmy for Best Actress for her leading role in the ITV and Netflix series Marcella.

Hollyoaks icon returns to screens in new show 17 years after village exit

Hollyoaks legend Guy Burnet, who won hearts as Craig Dean, one half of Oak's iconic couple, 'McDean' (along with James Sutton's John Paul McQueen), is returning to screens with a brand new role. A far cry from sensitive, sexually-confused Craig, Guy is set to join the cast of Paramount+ series Landman, created by Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan for its second season as Charlie Newsome, a 'charismatic' oil and gas engineer. Landman debuted last year, with the show focused on the world of Texas oil rigs, with it's initial season kicking off in November last year and wrapping up in January. Paramount+ bosses greenlit a second season in March after it garnered an impressive 35 million global streaming viewers, becoming the streaming services most popular original creation with an all-star cast, featuring Billy Bob Thornton, Demi Moore, Andy Garcia, Sam Elliott and Ali Larter. In one of Hollyoaks' most ground-breaking and celebrated plots, teenage best mates Craig and John Paul embarked upon an affair. Although John Paul's arc was a more traditional 'coming out' story, Craig's was more focussed on his deep confusion surrounding his feelings and his identity. Guy's character faced a compelling journey of falling in love with his best friend, completely flying in the face of his previously established heterosexuality and the two became locked in a gritty, raw and emotionally-turbulent relationship. As soap law dictates that all affair reveals must cause maximum devastation and carnage, their secret was exposed to the entire village when John Paul engineered a situation in which Craig's girlfriend Sarah Barnes (Loui Batley) would walk in on them in a passionate clinch. Craig eventually chose John Paul over Sarah, although both faced significant backlash from the villagers and their own families in a much more conservative 2006. Hearts broke when Guy decided to leave the show, and with James Sutton staying put, fans braced themselves for the end of McDean. As the duo planned to leave for Ireland, John Paul realised that Craig was still uncomfortable with the idea of being with another man publicly, and the two parted ways. Discussing his exit at the time, Guy said: 'Initially, the thing that threw me over the edge to say 'right, I am going to leave Hollyoaks' was when I was sat at home thinking, 'I'd love to go to Tokyo; I'd love to go and live in Mexico; I want to go and live in Costa Rica; I want to go and do these things now while I'm young and can still do them.' Talking about how the deep relationships he had formed among the cast made his decision a tough one: 'I learned so much at Hollyoaks. I loved the place. 'It was the most difficult decision almost purely based on the people, your best friends who work there – like Nick Pickard (Tony Hutchinson), Jimmy McKenna (Jack Osborne) and Carly Stenson (Steph Dean) – they're my family. 'They're people that before I even made my decision to leave, I went to and spoke to them about it. More Trending 'I remember having a conversation with Nick Pickard and saying 'I love it here, it's great but I feel that I want to move on but the thing that makes me want to stay the most is you guys'. He said to me, 'go, don't let that hold you back.' Guy did return to the village to tie in with John Paul's (temporary) exit, giving fans the happy ending they craved as the two left together to begin a new life. Since departing from Hollyoaks, Guy played Theodore Chips in Netflix's Fubar alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger and had a role in global mega-hit Oppenheimer. View More » His other roles include turns in The Beast, Reykjavík, Dead for a Dollar, Pitch Perfect, Mortdecai, The Feed, Electric Dreams, Counterpart and The Affair. In 2017, she won the International Emmy for Best Actress for her leading role in the ITV and Netflix series Marcella. What is erotomania? Erotomania, also known as de Clérambault's syndrome, is when you think someone is in love with you but they're not. The subject of the person's delusion is often a celebrity or someone of a higher social status. It's a rare psychiatric condition, and can even focus on a fictional character or someone who has died. They may believe that the person is communicating with them and affirming their love using secret messages. It tends to affect women more than men, and can occur alongside other mental health conditions. Behaviour includes persistent efforts to make contact through stalking, written communication, and other harassing behaviours. It can sometimes be triggered by the targeted person making it known that the attention is not wanted.
