Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters 'bores' viewers despite shark biting star
Shark! Celebrity Infested Waters has failed to impress fans, as the show was labelled rather dull – despite one celebrity being bitten by a shark in the first episode.
The new series Shark! Celebrity Infested Water kicked off on Monday night with the celebrities getting stuck into the ITV series, trying to promote the importance of shark preservation.
In the very first part of the show, the celebs were informed that they would be cage diving with bull sharks later that day in the tropical waters surrounding Bimini, in the Bahamas.
Of the famous faces, including Motherland star Lucy Punch, Comedian Sir Lenny Henry, McFly star Dougie Poynter, and Countdown's Rachel Riley, it was Call the Midwife actress Helen George.
'#SharkCelebrityInfestedWaters – cumbersome title. Good lineup. It's not a schlocky competition-type show and I'm not really sure why it's happening. So far, not particularly fun or interesting… I want it to ramp up a gear,' said MatthewRimmer on X.
'This must be the worst piece of telly have ITV have ever made, and THAT is saying something #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said DylanDylan1909.
'Why are they putting the poor sharks through the trauma of these celebrities? #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said CallMe_Governor.
'Only 20 minutes in and I'm bored already!' said GrantSRivers.
'This has all the hallmarks of another 'Genius Game' for itv #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said PJDavies1962, comparing it to the negatively reviewed game show for ITV.
Towards the end of the episode, Ross was bitten by a lemon shark, and the group had to retreat from the sea as the instructors decided that things had got a little bit intense.
Although the comedian was unscathed, with the shark only nipping at his wetsuit, the celebs were shaken by the event, which had escalated so quickly.
Fans were unfazed by this moment, but pointing out some of the stronger parts of the episodes, viewers praised ITV for making adjustments to the experience so Ade Adepitan, who is physically disabled, was able to participate fully.
'I love how @AdeAdepitan is making sure that this show is making reasonable adjustments for people with a disability so they can face sharks too!' said ciaraspinkpod.
Much of the episode focused on Helen. Within the first few minutes of the show, Helen admitted to the camera that she wasn't just afraid of sharks, she also had a fear of water and struggles to keep her head underwater.
Helen and the other celebs revealed that she was surprised to confront sharks on the first day, assuming there would be a warm-up period before they actually got in the water with the sharks, and was the last celebrity to get in the sea.
Later that evening, the celebrities cheered as Helen joined them for drinks and toasted to her bravery.
'I'm like Helen George in that I'm scared of water etc, and I most definitely couldn't have done some of what she did so kudos to her. #sharkcelebrityinfestedwaters,' said XxLadyClaireXx on X.
Ahead of the episode, Rachel spoke to Metro about her experience on the show and mentioned Helen's bravery in the series. More Trending
'What's lovely about the show is we were a team and she's the strongest person I know,' says Rachel.
'She's had the biggest achievement out of all of us so we're all really proud of her, to have the strength of character and strength of mind to not only overcome getting your face in the water, but to go out in the open ocean, take your mask off underwater, she did so much.'

Coronation Street 'to kill off' Billy Mayhew in shocking scenes as Daniel Brocklebank exits soap
One of Coronation Street's longest running characters is reportedly set to be killed off in explosive scenes after being told his time on the show was coming to an end A Coronation Street icon is set to be killed off, according to reports. After 11 years on the Weatherfield cobbles, time is said to be up on Daniel Brocklebank's Billy Mayhew. And in true Corrie fashion, it's said bosses are planning an explosive exit for the long-running star. The actor behind the man of the cloth was told earlier in the year that his character was to be written out of proceedings on the ITV soap. It has now been claimed the archdeacon will be killed off in one of the biggest storylines of the festive period. According to sources, bosses don't have any plans for Daniel's character to return. "There aren't any plans to bring him back onto the soap so it makes sense make his exit the most impactful and explosive it can be," a source told the Sun. "It's likely Billy will be a focus point of the Christmas / New Year storylines, with fans expected to be at the edge of their seats in the run-up.' With little else known on his exit, fans will eagerly await any big storyline. Daniel, meanwhile previously admitted he was "sad" to be leaving the soap. He recently said: 'I have been working on 'Corrie' for a quarter of my life. "I have adored every minute I have been in that building and have never not looked forward to going into work. I love everyone who works on this show and whilst I am sad to be going, I am equally excited to see what the future holds." The actor's partner, Jordan Coulthard later admitted the decision to leave the Corrie cobbles wasn't one that was led by Daniel. He also branded his axing as a "huge mistake" by bosses. According to MailOnline, he wrote on his Instagram Story: 'Nothing to say. Not his decision. Huge mistake. I can't believe we are having this conversation. No words can express how heartbroken I am for him.' Producer Kate Brooks previously paid tribute to Daniel and his work on the show in a gushing tribute to the star. She said: "Billy will be involved in a major storyline over the coming months, which will see him tested in ways he never imagined, as friendships and his faith are pushed to the limit. "We're incredibly sad to bid farewell to Dan, who has been fantastic in some of 'Corrie's biggest storylines over the past few years, most notably Paul's MND. "An actor of immeasurable talent and skill, and an absolute treasure behind the scenes - he will be missed by all of us on the cobbles."

Love Island slammed by Women's Aid for ‘misogyny and sexism' in statement amid Harrison's shocking treatment of Lauren
LOVE Island has been slammed by Women's Aid for 'misogyny and sexism' in a statement amid Harrison's shocking treatment of Lauren. Following a turbulent relationship with Toni, Harrison returned from Casa Amor last week accompanied by Lauren. However, despite this, he has continued to engage in flirty conversations with Toni on the villa's terrace, frequently telling each woman different things. On Tuesday, fans shared their fury, labelling Harrison 'disgusting' after he appeared to have had sex with Lauren before later returning to Toni. She had, until recently, remained unaware of the full details of Harrison's encounters. Lauren was left in tears after Harrison chose to crawl back to Toni despite their recent encounter. In response, Women's Aid has issued a statement condemning his behaviour and criticising the ITV reality show for perpetuating misogyny and sexism. Jessye Werner, Communications Manager at Women's Aid, acknowledged the efforts production companies have made to highlight toxic behaviours but stressed that more progress is necessary. She told The Tab: "Despite these positive steps, we still see unhealthy patterns of behaviour on these shows, showing just how steeped in misogyny and sexism our society still is. 'Women are often lied to, slut-shamed and manipulated, as well as laughed at behind their backs. Misogyny and sexism lay the foundation for the tolerance of abuse and violence – it reinforces a culture that excuses and trivialises violence against women and girls. 'More must be done to educate contestants on sexism and misogyny, and it is a great credit to viewers who take to social media, continuing to call out these behaviours as soon as they see them.' The Sun has contacted ITV for comment. Watch moment Love Island's Harrison breaks down in tears and begs for forgiveness after shock betrayal In tonight's episode, Toni was left furious as Harrison finally confessed to two sexy sessions with Lauren. In a tense conversation, Harrison pulled Toni for a chat to reveal the truth about his involvement with Lauren. The moment followed days of speculation in the villa, with several Islanders urging Harrison to come clean. He said: 'I just wanted to tell you something. I'm saying this so that you know the whole truth about the situation… obviously, with me and Lauren. Obviously, the other night… we slept together.' The revelation left Toni visibly stunned, having previously believed Harrison and Lauren had only kissed. Before the conversation, Harrison was seen confiding in the boys, admitting he's struggling with how to break the news. He said: 'Still not great, to be fair, mate. Do I go in and say it straight away or have a nice conversation first?' He was advised to be direct and avoid getting sidetracked. 'Don't make it all flirty and laughy,' Conor warned. 'You might not say it.' It had been a dramatic week on the show, topped off with a shock recoupling that saw Toni pick Harrison, after he'd slept with Lauren. Fans demanded he was axed from the villa after his 'disgusting' sex move. Harrison was called the "lowest of the low", with fans begging producers to step in and axe this "damaging boy' after he had sex with Lauren. Viewers were up in arms over the way Harrison played with the heartstrings of some of the girls. In recent scenes, fans watched as he and Lauren had sex in the bedroom, before he pulled Toni for a chat a short while later and made his feelings for her known. They were left shocked by Harrison's recent behaviour and the way he has played both Toni and Lauren, and now they've demanded he's axed from the villa. Taking to X, one furious user penned: 'I am actually disgusted by harrison and how he treated lauren and it actually puts me off watching this show tbh 'Being used for sex is bad enough but it being broadcast for anyone to see is actually dreadful. i can't even imagine how she's feeling right now. I'm not even a lauren fan but honestly wish i could give her a hug myself rn.' A second person added: 'Absolute deviant is never done licking his lips. Makes me sick.' A third wrote: 'He's officially the worst islander this season for me. i need him gone.' Someone else echoed: 'I don't understand how people like him don't get booted from the show for being f****** disgusting.' And someone else wrote: 'Harrison is vile but using sex to try to solidify a relationship then lying about it is bad behavior on both sides of I'm being honest. I hope Toni finds out and it all explodes.' There were hundreds of comments on social media about Harrison's behaviour, following his shocking villa antics. The drama also started when both Toni and Harrison chose to recouple with different people when they came back from Casa Amor. However the exes shocked fans when they snuck off to the terrace together. Harrison then confessed he still wasn't over Toni despite ditching her for Lauren . Gazing into her eyes, he asked: "Would it be bad if I kissed you right now?" While Harrison was doing this, poor Lauren was crying downstairs. However, later he manage to convince her everything was ok. That evening the pair had sex, despite him begging Toni to kiss him just hours before. After doing the deed, Harrison told the boys the "full-time whistle blew" as he used a football analogy to explain their bedroom activities.

They were then invited back by show bosses to join the series proper as part of Casa Amor where they coupled up with other Islanders. Now back in the main villa, they have acted like strangers. A source said: 'Ty and Lauren are acting like they've only just met but that's far from the case. 'They hooked up during the dry run, which is where a fake cast moves into the villa to test out everything from camera angles, to kitchen appliances and run-through challenges. 'And then they even saw each other on the outside before ITV invited them back to be part of Casa Amor. 'Now they're both in the main villa pretending like none of this ever happened but it's all entirely fake and ITV know about it.
