A mum says her two young children were left "traumatised" after a cinema showed two horror film trailers before a screening of Lilo & Stitch. Jenny Ellice, 43, and husband Robert took their boys Max, four, and Bertie, five, to watch the remake of the classic kids' film at Cineworld in Enfield, London, last Saturday.
She paid £85 for the 4DX viewing which, according to Cineworld, provides "an extreme sensory experience" with a moving seat. Cinemas typically put on age-appropriate film trailers before the film itself.

But instead of showing other PG-rated films, films like Jurassic World Rebirth (PG-13), horror film Megan (PG-13) and a second horror film were shown. Whilst her boys were okay with the former, Jenny says the two horror trailers combined with the moving seats left Max and Robert "rigid with fear" and "terrified".

They left minutes later because her children were too scared to stay and watch Lilo & Stitch. Staff apologised for the mistake and offered free tickets, but Jenny says it doesn't go far enough. The TV journalist from Epping, Essex, said: "Max has been waking up screaming and Rob said to his teacher yesterday that he was scared from the cinema.
"But you just don't know with kids, they're like sponges, you think they're not listening, but they are. They were pretty graphic trailers. There was swearing and screaming in them - my eldest was rigid with fear. I had my hands over their eyes.
"I had no idea why they were showing these trailers for a U movie - these are four-year-olds exposed to graphic swearing and violence. They were terrified."

Jenny says it's "lucky" that they were the only ones in the 10:10 screening of the film. She added: "We were the only ones who went into the 4DX showing. We got popcorn and drinks, and they were so excited. They were all happy with their 3D glasses.
"The ads were on and then it goes into age-appropriate trailers for the film. The first one was Jurassic World, and I thought that seems a bit off, but I thought it could be a PG film like Lilo & Stitch. The seats move really violently and my boys like dinosaurs so it's fine.
"The next one was Megan, and I was sure that wasn't a PG - it got really graphic really quickly. It's like those Chuckie movies."

Jenny reached out to Cineworld on Instagram but was told after the offer of free tickets, her complaint couldn't go any further. She has now instructed her solicitors to take further action. She said: "Max hasn't even started school yet, with a big corporation this shouldn't be happening.
"If they had just put me in touch with someone from head officer then it would show they care. We have sent a letter from our solicitors who will likely be making a complaint to Enfield council and the film licensing/rating body. I want to ensure this never happens again as the cinema are not taking it seriously at all.
"Had the cinema had the decency to speak to me about it I probably wouldn't have taken legal action, but they have treated my complaint as more of an annoyance. Children at that age are like sponges and so impressionable, even just the noises of violence can leave a lasting impression and it's just not something two young children, especially one of pre-school age should ever be exposed to."

How Scarlett Johansson tried not to be a 'humongous weirdo' to Steven Spielberg

Scarlett Johansson has spent 30 years wanting to be in a Jurassic universe movie, so tired desperately not to put off producer Steven Spielberg from hiring her by being 'a humongous weirdo' about it. The Hollywood actress, 40, is known for her association with massive franchises like Transformers and, of course, her nine appearances in Marvel movies including Avengers: Endgame, Iron Man 2 and Black Widow as spy and assassin Natasha Romanoff. But the chance to appear in Jurassic World Rebirth was extra-special for Johansson, she told Metro on the red carpet at Jurassic World Rebirth's London premiere on Tuesday night. The new dinosaur movie – the seventh feature-length film in the series – sees the legendary Spielberg executive produce once again, alongside the return of original screenwriter David Koepp. Spielberg also famously directed 1993's Jurassic Park and 1997's follow-up The Lost World: Jurassic Park, both of which were penned by Koepp. British filmmaker Gareth Edwards – known for his original sci-fi film The Creator as well as directing Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – takes over at the helm for Jurassic World Rebirth. It was him who first tipped off Metro to Johansson's obsession with the franchise. He revealed in a forthcoming interview that Spielberg had informed him in a casting meeting that Johansson would 'kill' him if she didn't get the part of extraction expert Zora Bennett. 'He was basically forced to cast me!' Johansson laughed when told of Edwards' story at this evening's premiere. Adding her side of the story, she exclusively told Metro: 'I've been chasing the Jurassic universe for three decades. I would have happily played any kind of dino snack! 'But I knew that they were doing a new one and that there was a part that I potentially could be right for – right age and otherwise – and so I got in there and was like, I've got to meet on this! I just want to share my enthusiasm.' After setting up a general meeting with Spielberg, Johansson then tried to play it cool. '[I] tried to not be a humongous weirdo and geek out, but after a couple of hours talking to him he brought it up. He was like, 'Oh I think we're supposed to be talking about Jurassic?' and that was my in ,' she shared. 'So then I felt comfortable being a total nerd!' The double Oscar nominee also praised Jurassic World Rebirth's 'extraordinary' wider team for coming together to deliver the film to cinemas less than 12 months after shooting wrapped – and only 16 months after Edwards was announced as director (with no cast in place). 'We did shoot if for five months, so it wasn't that fast, but I think Gareth knew… it's all in the magic of post-production. He put the pedal to the metal,' Johansson said. Emphasising the speed, she added: 'I mean, we were just having a sound mixing conversation like 10 days ago. So it's really being delivered – it is hot off the presses! 'And you do that with an extraordinary group of post-production specialists and a big, big team – that's the way you do it.' Johansson also produces on the film, in which she co-stars with Wicked actor Jonathan Bailey, two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, Homeland and Companion star Rupert Friend and Netflix star of The Lincoln Lawyer Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. More Trending Set 32 years after dinosaurs were brought back from extinction thanks to the events of Jurassic Park, Jurassic World Rebirth follows a top-secret expedition including Johannson's former military operative Bennett, Bailey's bespectacled palaeontologist Dr Henry Loomis, Friend's pharmaceutical rep Martin Krebs and Ali's team leader Duncan Kincaid. The group braves the forbidden isolated equatorial regions where dinosaurs still roam freely to extract DNA from three massive prehistoric creatures in the hopes of a major medical breakthrough. However, the island is also home to mutant species who have thrived following man's experiments on them to appease crowds at the former theme park. ‘Jurassic World: Rebirth' brings fans back to dangerous dinosaur realm

LONDON, June 17 (Reuters) - Scarlett Johansson's role in "Jurassic World: Rebirth" made her recall her earliest memories of the dinosaur film franchise. The "Black Widow" actor recalled seeing the first "Jurassic Park" film at the movie theater when she was 10 years old. 'It imprinted on me very deeply,' she told Reuters at the London premiere at Odeon Luxe Leicester Square. 'For the next three decades, I was like, I would have done anything to be in a Jurassic movie in any capacity,' she added. The franchise, created by Michael Crichton, has spawned several films, merchandising deals and video games. "Jurassic World: Rebirth," directed by Gareth Edwards, follows a team of specialists that embarks on an expedition to a forbidden island, home to a research facility for the original 'Jurassic Park'. The specialists, played by Johansson and "Bridgerton" actor Jonathan Bailey, must obtain DNA samples from three dinosaurs to achieve a life-saving medical breakthrough. The Universal Pictures film arrives in theaters on July 2. For Rupert Friend, this installment in the franchise is exhilarating. 'I love adventure. I love being taken on a ride where you don't know what's going to happen. I love the unknown. I love risk,' he said. For well-known science fiction director, Edwards, the pressure for the film to succeed did not hit until he arrived at the premiere. 'It's all front and centre here. It feels a bit weird to be honest. I can't quite get my head around it,' the "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" director added.
