Former Inter coach hoping Saudi club comes up trumps
Simone Inzaghi has taken over as head coach of Al-Hilal, a day after leaving Inter Milan and two weeks before the Saudi Arabian team's first game at the Club World Cup.
Inzaghi signed a two-year deal after Al-Hilal lured him with an offer of reportedly more than 20 million euros ($A35 million) per season.
"The Italian genius is here," the Saudi club said in a social media post.
Inter were routed 5-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final last Saturday, marking the most lopsided defeat in the 70-year history of major European finals.
The 49-year-old Inzaghi coached Inter to the Serie A title last year and was also in charge when the Nerazzurri lost the 2023 Champions League title to Manchester City.
He was at Inter for four years.
Al-Hilal open their Club World Cup campaign against Real Madrid on June 18 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.

Badou Jack owns the WBC belt but it is WBO and WBA champion Gilberto Ramirez who is firmly in Opetaia's sights. The Mexican two-weight champion is due for a mandatory defence later this month and insistent he will face Opetaia next. Should both win, as most predict they will, Opetaia will be in line to finally secure a unification blockbuster against Ramirez later this year. An Opetaia-Ramirez mega-money four-belt stoush would sit nicely on the undercard to September's historic duel between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford in Las Vegas. Little wonder why Opetai's priority is to see off Squeo however he needs to, saying he's even ready to slug it out for 12 full rounds if that's what it takes. "Once that bell goes every time, man, it's on and I'm ready for 12 rounds of war," he said. "I've got no doubt he's going to come forward. That's got to be his game plan. "We've just got to be patient. We just stick to our game plan, do what we do and we put on clinics. "So on Sunday, I love to put on a clinic. We always do the goods, we always put on good performances. "We are some hard-noses. We've been in the trenches the last couple of weeks. I'm riding in the wave. You know how I train to stop people."

Late drama as Spain reach Nations League final
Lamine Yamal scored a brace as Spain reached the Nations League final with an extraordinary 5-4 victory over France, putting them in prime position to seek a third title in as many years. Nico Williams smashed the opener in the 22nd minute and it was followed three minutes later by Mikel Merino drilling his shot home.
