No ego, ready to take step ahead or back: Raut on Sena (UBT), MNS tie-up buzz
Mumbai, The Shiv Sena is ready to take a step forward or even backward and there is no political ego in it, party MP Sanjay Raut said on Tuesday amid the chatter of rapprochement between his outfit and the MNS.
The Sena , led by former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, will do whatever possible for the benefit of Maharashtra, "Marathi manoos" and to re-ensure their claim on Mumbai, Raut told reporters.
"We are ready to take a step ahead or back. There is no political ego in it," the Rajya Sabha member said.
Estranged cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray have sparked speculation about a possible reconciliation with their recent statements indicating they could ignore "trivial issues" and join hands nearly two decades after a bitter parting of ways.
While Maharashtra Navnirman Sena head Raj Thackeray has said uniting in the interest of "Marathi manoos" is not difficult, Uddhav has insisted he is ready to put aside trivial fights, provided those working against Maharashtra's interests are not entertained.
Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray on Monday said his party was ready to align with any outfit which wants to work for Mumbai, Maharashtra and Marathi-speaking people with a "clean heart and mind".
Asked about the buzz surrounding a potential tie-up between the Sena and the MNS, Aaditya Thackeray indicated nothing was on the table as of now and things have not moved beyond media circles.
"Discussions are only in the media. As of now, someone has given a call and we have responded. People will see when the next steps are taken," the former state minister told reporters.
"We are ready to join hands with those who are ready to fight for Marathi-speaking people, Mumbai and Maharashtra with a clean heart and mind. Uddhavji has already said whatever people want will happen," the opposition MLA said.

Murugesan wants to build a state office for DMK and install a statue of Karunanidhi in Thiruvananthapuram. As the areas under Punalur constituency, which shares the border with Tamil Nadu's Tenkasi, have a significant Tamil-speaking population, mostly working-class, DMK has been able to rally and mobilise them effectively, sources said.

Fadnavis rebukes Nitesh Rane over his language after Sena complaint
Mumbai: Maharashtra chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday rebuked controversial Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister Nitesh Rane for his recent provocative language directed towards ally Shiv Sena, when he implied that Fadnavis is the 'baap' (father, implying boss) of everyone in the state. Fadnavis told reporters that he has asked Rane to avoid using such language and claimed the state fisheries and ports minister accepted his mistake. While addressing party workers in the Dharashiv district on Saturday, Rane had said in Marathi, 'The prime minister is from the BJP at the Centre and the [Maharashtra] chief minister is also from the BJP. So no matter who shows power, the father of everyone in Maharashtra is Devendra Fadnavis.' The comments were made against the backdrop of friction between the local units of the BJP and Shiv Sena in Dharashiv over the sanctioning of projects under the District Planning and Development Fund. It was an apparent dig at Dharashiv's guardian minister, Pratap Sarnaik, from the Shiv Sena. On Tuesday, Shiv Sena ministers Dada Bhuse, Gulabrao Patil, Shambhuraj Desai and others met Fadnavis and complained to him about Rane's language. Addressing the matter at a press conference on Tuesday, Fadnavis said, 'It is wrong to speak about anybody's father. I have spoken to the concerned minister, who said he didn't mean it [as an insult to Shiv Sena]. I told him that perception matters in politics and not what he meant. He has been told to avoid such statements. He has accepted his mistake.' Earlier, Nitesh's brother and Shiv Sena leader Nilesh also expressed displeasure over his remarks, saying on social media, 'We must not forget that we are in the Mahayuti [alliance].' Nitesh Rane has been at the centre of several controversies due to his provocative statements. This was the second time he was snubbed by Fadnavis. In September 2024, Fadnavis had warned Rane after he threatened violence against Muslims, for which he was booked. In April, the Maharashtra State Minority Commission chief Pyare Khan criticised Rane for repeatedly 'giving such hate speeches'. Meanwhile, the Ranes are also involved in a public spat with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Prakash Mahajan, brother of the late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan. Prakash Mahajan has alleged that Nitesh and Nilesh Rane's father, former union minister Narayan Rane, threatened him with violence. He said that if any harm came to him, Rane should be held accountable, while also requesting Fadnavis to provide him police protection. This was after Mahajan criticised Nitesh Rane for mocking the possible tie-up between the MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT). In response, Narayan Rane posted on social media, 'If you have come in the Ranes' path, I will certainly show you the right Mahajan, you are speaking more than your worth. If you speak again, I will make you vomit.'

Ravindra Chavan likely to lead state BJP BJP MLA and former minister Ravindra Chavan, currently serving as the working president of the Maharashtra BJP, will likely be elevated as state president ahead of the local body elections. Hindi dominates official communication in Maha Although state education minister Dada Bhuse recently rolled back the decision to make Hindi a third language in schools due to public backlash, the alliance parties of the BJP-led Mahayuti are now using Hindi extensively for official communication. Previously, govt press notes were issued in Marathi, but they are now also being published in Hindi. The move seems aimed at garnering more attention in the Hindi-speaking regions and signalling to the party leadership. While schools may have postponed the decision to introduce Hindi as a third language, the state govt has embraced Hindi as their primary mode of communication.
