
Hyatt appoints new Regional Vice President of Development in Saudi Arabia
Hyatt has appointed Briana Swift as Regional Vice President (RVP) of Development for Saudi Arabia.
Briana, previously Regional Vice President of Development for Northern Europe, will relocate to Riyadh where she will lead development efforts in Saudi Arabia – a key growth market for Hyatt, which is set to triple its portfolio across the country by 2030.
Briana joined Hyatt in February 2017 as Manager of Acquisitions and Development across Europe, Africa and the Middle East (EAME). Over the last eight years, she has played a pivotal role in overseeing the growth of Hyatt's brands across Europe, introducing JdV by Hyatt to Europe and overseeing several brand entries to the Greek Islands and Malta. In her latest role as RVP Development Northern Europe, she signed Hyatt's re-entry into Hamburg with Hyatt Centric Altstadt Hamburg and the debut of the JdV by Hyatt brand to Sweden among others.
In her new position as RVP for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Briana will be responsible for leading the group's growth efforts across the country's primary destinations and upcoming developments.
With projects such as Hyatt Place AlUla, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea, and Miraval The Red Sea already lined up, Briana and the team will continue to collaborate with local partners to further expand Hyatt's diverse portfolio of brands in the region.

Hyatt gets all regulatory approvals for Playa Hotels' acquisition
Hyatt Hotels Corporation, a leading global hospitality company, has announced that all required regulatory approvals have been obtained for its previously announced cash tender offer to purchase all of the outstanding ordinary shares of Playa Hotels & Resorts NV for $13.50 per share in cash. The offer is being made pursuant to the previously announced purchase agreement dated February 9, 2025 among Hyatt, HI Holdings Playa BV and Playa. On June 5, 2025, pursuant to the provisions of the Federal Law of Economic Competition, the Federal Competition Commission issued a resolution approving the transactions contemplated by the Purchase Agreement. As a result of the regulatory approvals, Hyatt said it expects to complete the tender offer promptly following the expiration of the offer, which is scheduled to expire at 5pm, New York City time on June 9. Completion of the tender offer remains subject to the conditions described in the tender offer statement on Schedule to Assuming the minimum tender and other offer conditions are satisfied, the tendered shares are expected to be accepted for payment on or about June 11, 2025. Pursuant to the terms of the Purchase Agreement, if the minimum tender condition in the tender offer is satisfied, along with certain other closing conditions expected to be satisfied at expiration, then on June 10, 2025, Hyatt will commence a subsequent offering period for the tender offer for any Playa ordinary shares not already tendered, which will expire at 11:59 p.m, New York City time, on June 16, 2025.

Hyatt set for 50% rooms growth in Africa
Hyatt, a leading hospitality brand, has announced that it expects around 50% rooms growth across new and existing markets in Africa by the end of 2030. In the past two years, Hyatt saw 51% rooms growth in Africa, fuelled by the addition of several milestone properties and first-time brand entries. These included Park Hyatt Marrakech, introducing the luxury brand to Morocco; Hyatt Centric Cairo West, the brand's debut on the continent; Hyatt Regency Harare – The Meikles, Hyatt's first hotel in Zimbabwe; and Hyatt Regency Nairobi Westlands, its first hotel in Kenya. Most recently, in March 2025, Hyatt Place Nairobi Westlands and Hyatt House Nairobi Westlands opened along Lower Kabete Road. This marks Hyatt's first dual-branded development in Africa, offering guests two distinct stay experiences under one roof, just minutes from Westgate Mall, the Nairobi National Museum, and Karura Forest. 'Last year marked a breakthrough year for Hyatt in Africa, and we're just getting started,' said Stephen Ansell, Managing Director, Hyatt, Middle East and Africa.
