SuperSport United interim coach Andre Arendse could lead his team closer to safety if they beat Stellenbosch FC in the Premiership on Saturday.
SuperSport are languishing in the bottom half of the standings with 26 points, three ahead of Cape Town City, who hold the playoffs spot.
Matsantsantsa a Pitori have four games to play before the end of the season, something that could yield 12 points and safety if everything goes their way.
They have to put their money where their mouth is, though, by ensuring that they grind results in their next games, building on their recent 2-0 win over Chippa United.
Arendse, after being put in charge of the team following the sacking of Gavin Hunt in March due to a string of poor results, expressed his ample belief in his team.
He said the depth is there, so the only thing they need to do is to rediscover their confidence and get back to winning ways in the league.
So, having his team gone on a four-game unbeaten run since he took over after drawing the first three games before beating Chippa, it seems the players are heeding his call.
Strikers Bradley Grobler and Christian Saile both scored against the Chilli Boys, ensuring that they hit the right notes when the team needed them the most.
Arendse will bank on the due to keep on firing until the last game of the season against Richards Bay at home on May 24.
After all, they need to do it for the club and themselves. Grobler has struggled with injuries this season, limiting his goal contribution for the team.
His injury issues have resulted in many pundits advising him to hang up his boots while he's back on the pitch, instead of being forced to retire by an injury.
Saile, meanwhile, needs to continue being at his best with every passing game if he's to return to his parent club, Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs, at the end of the season.
However, the onus to steer SuperSport to safety doesn't only rest with the coach and the two strikers, but everyone that's part and parcel of the team as well.
A team like Stellies, for instance, won't be easy customers as they'll be at home, the Danie Craven Stadium, and are eyeing a third-place finish on the standings as well.
Stellies are just two points behind Sekhukhune United, who hold the coveted third-place spot which guarantees CAF Confederation Cup football next season, on the log.
Coach Steve Barker's men were part of that continental showpiece last season after finishing third, and that's why they'll want to qualify for the same event next season as well.

Top transfer target rejects rivals, says ‘yes' to joining Kaizer Chiefs!
Kaizer Chiefs have received a huge boost in the pursuit of one of their top transfer targets for next season. Chiefs are looking to add quality and depth to their squad as they prepare to compete on the continent next campaign. Last season was yet another one to forget for Chiefs, as they saw themselves finishing outside top eight. This was for the second season in a row, and only the third in their history. The only saving grace they had this time around was their Nedbank Cup trophy triumph. That win was not only their first trophy in 10 years, but a gateway into the CAF Confederation Cup next season. That will mean more games and more travelling rigours for the club. In order to combat that, while remaining competitive on the local front, Chiefs management will have to step up. This in the way of backing coach Nasreddine Nabi with a squad filled with quality in strength and depth. One of the targets he has been rumoured to desperately want is Feisal Salum. Amakhosi were rumoured to have been subjects of a bid to Azam FC for services in January. That bid was rejected but it is now reported that Azam are more receptive to selling Salum this window. Now according to FARPost, Chiefs coach Nabi has convinced the talented midfielder his project. It is believed that he is now ready to reject Simba SC to join Amakhosi! 'Nabi reportedly held a crucial meeting with Feisal Salum during his visit. This meeting confirms Nabi's continued keen interest in the dynamic midfielder, a player he has long admired. Previous attempts to secure Salum's services hit a snag due to a significant disparity in valuation between the clubs involved. However, the recent meeting appears to have breathed new life into the potential transfer. Crucially, sources close to the player confirm he is highly receptive to the project and is eager to join Chiefs next season.' Wrote the publication. Chiefs fans, how big a transfer would it be if you were to sign Salum? Let us know by clicking on the comment tab. Or by emailing info@ or sending a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Kaizer Chiefs: Tanzanian scouting trip reveals new target
Kaizer Chiefs have intensified their hunt for fresh talent, and all signs now point towards Simba SC's dynamic midfielder, Jean Charles Ahoua. The 23-year-old Ivorian has attracted serious attention following a high-profile scouting mission to Tanzania. Last week, head coach Nasreddine Nabi and Head of Scouting and Recruitment Thembela 'Tera' Maliwa were seen at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam. They are attending a Premier League showdown between Simba SC and Singida Black Stars. Their presence fuelled speculation of upcoming transfers and strategic reinforcements at Naturena. While many initially believed their trip centred on Simba SC's 26-year-old attacker Denis Kibu, fresh reports now suggest that Ahoua and Feisal Salum top Amakhosi's wish list. 'Chiefs coach Nabi and the club's chief scout Tera were recently in Tanzania. And part of their visit included watching the match between Simba SC and Singida Black Stars. One of the players that Chiefs have been following is Denis (Kibu). And they hoped to see him in action,' a source revealed. 'There might have been other players the Chiefs technical duo were there to watch closely, which includes (Jean)Charles(Ahoua).' Ahoua's performance in the CAF Confederation Cup has not gone unnoticed. He featured in 13 matches, bagged three goals, and delivered two assists. Which includes a vital strike in the semi-final first leg clash against Stellenbosch FC. His ability to perform on the continental stage adds significant weight to his candidacy for a move to South Africa. With the club under pressure to rebuild and climb back to dominance, bringing in a player of Ahoua's calibre could signal a new era at Naturena. Known for his attacking flair, energy in midfield, and international experience. The Ivorian might just be the creative force Chiefs have been missing. Would Jean Charles Ahoua be a good fit at Kaizer Chiefs? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Is this a blessing in disguise for the Buccaneers? Click for the latest Pirates need a new central midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula is still a highly effective defensive midfield operator, but Pirates might need a long-term contingency plan because he'll be 36 in November. Although it's an absurd suggestion, Pirates might need to make an audacious move for a player of Teboho Mokoena's calibre. Not Mokoena himself, but a domineering central midfield general to go alongside Thalente Mbatha, or free up Mbatha to get higher up the pitch more often. Kwayiba in the bag The Buccaneers have wrapped up the signing of Chippa United and Bafana midfield playmaker Sinoxolo Kwayiba. The 25-year-old is part of Hugo Broos' latest South Africa squad to contest friendlies in June. Kwayiba bagged six goals and an assist from 25 league appearances for the Chilli Boys this season. The Gqeherba-born star is in the latest Bafana squad. What about a new striker for Orlando Pirates? Although the Buccaneers are blessed with options at the sharp end with Tshegofatso Mabasa, Evidence Makgopa and Boitumelo Radiopane, they might be looking at a different style of number 9.
