Marcus Samuelsson's monthly series is celebrating up-and-coming BIPOC chefs
With all that said, we think it's best to become a loyal follower now so you can say 'you knew them when.' And while we don't mind crisscrossing the city to see what's up-and-coming, for those of you who'd like to save a little coin on the train, a FiDi steakhouse will be hosting several foodie pop-ups under its roof all summer. Even better? Superstar chef Marcus Samuelsson is hosting.
This summer, Samuelsson and executive chef Sherry Cardoso of Metropolis by Marcus Samuelsson are celebrating the season with their first-ever "Subway Series." Kicking off this month until July 23, the summertime pop-up series is giving BIPOC chefs without a physical restaurant space a chance to showcase their fare on a larger stage. Six chefs from around the way will be taking over the restaurant's outdoor terrace, introducing the likes of Sudanese sambuxas to octopus poke tacos inspired by the Philippines.

Starting the series last week was Christopher Martin of Cmarty's Jerk. Remixing Caribbean flavors, he introduced house-smoked Jerk Chicken with a yam-plantain mash purée and Pan Seared Escovitch Snapper cooked in a red pepper purée with drops of scallion cilantro-oil. For dessert, chef Martin finished with a Ginger Snap Cereal S'more with a fire-toasted marshmallow.
Next in the series, chef Shelly Flash of 2 Girls & A Cookshop will be taking over this Wednesday, June 25. A MasterChef, The Great Food Truck Race and Chopped alum, Chef Flash cooks alongside her daughter Jatuan, telling the story of the vibrant cookshops of Jamaica and street food across the diaspora. Using tacos as a vehicle, past iterations have included hot honey and fried chicken tacos and chopped cheese tacos. Meanwhile, on July 9th, a familiar face will be hosting the series: Christian Marcano, chef de cuisine of Metropolis. Selling empanadas during the pandemic, chef Marcano hopes to turn his bulk empanada operation, Empanada Eleven, into a food truck.
With Filipino, Sudanese and Chino-Latino in the line-up, the only question is: which one are you going to visit first? Check out the full schedule of events below:

Kelly Osbourne says she has lost her 'best friend' after passing of Ozzy Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne said she has lost her 'best friend' following the death of her father, Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne. The rock legend was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019 and died at the age of 76 on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his family. In a heartfelt message posted to her Instagram stories on Thursday, Kelly shared lyrics from the Black Sabbath song Changes, a track she famously re-recorded with her father. 'I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had,' she wrote next to an emoji of a broken heart. Released in 2003, their reimagined duet hit number one on the UK Singles chart. The duo became only the second father-daughter act to top the chart, following Nancy and Frank Sinatra in 1967. Osbourne's death came a few weeks after he reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates on July 5 to play a farewell gig at Villa Park – a stone's throw from where the band was formed in 1968. After the live performance, Osbourne and his wife Sharon celebrated Kelly's engagement with her long-term partner Sid Wilson, a member of the heavy metal band Slipknot. The day after the gig, Kelly thanked her father's fans for attending his last live performance. She wrote on Instagram: 'To say that yesterday was magic was an understatement! 'Thank you to everyone who came to support my dad. Thank you to the fans who without we are nothing! 'My dad got his moment in the sun! He was able to say thank you and goodbye in the most beautiful way!' Other stars have also honoured the 'Prince of Darkness' by paying tribute to him during live concert performances, including Lady Gaga, Coldplay and Alice Cooper, who praised him for performing until he 'couldn't do it any more'.

Brooklyn Beckham shows off his toned physique as he poses shirtless in the sauna - after taking inspiration from wife Nicola Peltz's racy bath snap
Brooklyn Beckham posed shirtless as he relaxed in the sauna in an Instagram post on Thursday - after seemingly taking inspiration from wife Nicola Peltz 's racy bath snap. The aspiring chef, 26, shared a photo capturing his downtime following a whirlwind few weeks of living it up with Nicola, 30. Looking to unwind, Brooklyn donned a pair of black shorts as he showed off his toned physique and impressive tattoo collection inside the steamy sauna. His post comes just a day after Nicola set pulses racing with a jaw-dropping naked snap, after enjoying a swanky lunch with her pal Elton John. The actress took to Instagram to share a gallery of snaps from her trip to St Tropez, and paid tribute to the music legend by using his collaboration with Dua Lipa, Cold Heart, as the song for his post. Nicola's post showed her seductively posing in a bath, along a gallery of snaps with her husband Brooklyn, who was quick in the comments that he took the snap. It comes hours after sources revealed that Elton invited Brooklyn and Nicola for lunch at a swanky Cannes eatery in a desperate attempt to calm the family's feud. The legendary musician, who has been friends with David, 50, and Victoria Beckham, 51, for over 30 years, treated Brooklyn and his wife Nicola at fancy La Guerite beach club in the South of France. The Beckham family have been at the centre of a feud that has pitted Brooklyn and his wife Nicola against the rest of the family. According to The Sun, Sir Elton 'briefly' spoke about the family's feud in the hope Brooklyn would patch things up with his parents. A source said: 'Elton of old may have relished in taking sides - in this case his young godson, Brooklyn - but two years off his 80th birthday, he's a man who has seen and done it all. He just wants everyone to be happy. 'There is no side-taking as such; he simply adores his godson, and really has a laugh with Nicola who he thinks has a great sense of humour. He wants to look after them in his role as 'spiritual adviser' as a godfather, it's a role he takes seriously. 'Elton and David think the situation is terribly sad, and has gently suggested to all involved that life is short - to patch things up.' The source added Elton is 'adamant he doesn't want to stick his nose in' the feud, he just simply 'wants peace'. MailOnline has contacted the Beckham's and Elton's representatives for comment. Nicola couldn't wipe the smile off her face during the lunch as she sipped on Aperol Spritz at the fancy beach club. Sir Elton is also said to have generously picked up the entire bill, after dining on the restaurant's signature lobster linguine which comes in at an eye-watering £190. David affectionately calls the musician 'Uncle Elton' after becoming friends in his football heyday. Sir Elton was due to perform at the Beckhams wedding in 1999 before suffering a heart attack that prevented him from playing. He later sang at one of the children's christenings. Meanwhile Victoria once disclosed that it was Elton who inspired her to say goodbye to the Spice Girls, penning an emotional letter to her older self where she confessed that watching her friend perform made her realise that her true calling lay beyond singing. It comes after Nicola doubled down on the family feud as she declared Brooklyn 'her everything' on Instagram last week during their luxury St Tropez trip. Nicola took to her Instagram Stories with snaps of the pair embracing during their sun-soaked getaway on board her billionaire father's yacht in St Tropez. The couple only had eyes for each other as she wrapped her arms around his neck while he pulled her in close. She wore a bikini top and skimpy white shorts while her husband shielded his eyes behind shades and a baseball cap and cheekily squeezed her bottom. Nicola captioned the post: 'My everything @BrooklynBeckhamPeltz' with Brooklyn later resharing it with his followers. Last week, it was revealed that Brooklyn and Nicola's Instagram accounts no longer follow his younger brothers Cruz, 20, and Romeo, 22, in the latest family drama. However, Brooklyn's friends told MailOnline on Friday that Cruz and Romeo have actually blocked them on the social media platform. This would make sense given that Brooklyn and Nicola are still following Victoria, 51 and David, 50. Cruz and Romeo were still following Brooklyn and Nicola earlier this month but appeared to take action after Brooklyn posted a birthday tribute to sister Harper, sharing a family photo without them in it – which Nicola reposted. There was much speculation whether Brooklyn would reach out to Harper on her 14th birthday on Thursday, but despite him doing so, it seems all is not well in the camp. Brooklyn's birthday tribute to Harper marked his first public interaction with his family since he paid tribute to his grandmother Sandra on June 26, despite remaining silent and shunning his father's 50th birthday earlier that same month. Sources close to the family have told MailOnline of their fears that Brooklyn and his wife Nicola have also distanced themselves from Harper after they failed to visit her when they flew into London in May to film an advert for French-Italian clothing brand Moncler just over a mile from the family home in Holland Park. David and Victoria had no idea whether Brooklyn, who Harper has idolised since she was a little girl, would message her privately or publicly on Instagram because they have no communication with him.

Woman behind viral Jet2 voiceover's rise to fame – from Butlins job to soaps role
A Jet2 advert audio has gone viral on TikTok with many users adding it to funny travel or holiday clips but people are only just learning who does the voice of the now global meme If you've been on social media in the last few weeks you've probably heard a certain Jet2holidays meme audio. It quickly went viral, largely due to a TikTok trend, and people are only just realising the familiar voice behind it. The voiceover star is Zoë Lister, who played the role of Zoe Carpenter in Hollyoaks from 2006 to 2010. After that she was a writer for Hollyoaks and some children's TV dramas for 10 years but today she is most recognisable for voicing a Jet2holidays advert that features the catchy line 'nothing beats a Jet2 holiday' with Jess Glynne's song Hold My Hand playing in the background. Zoë told Mirror she recorded this voiceover around 18 months ago but in the last few weeks it has 'just exploded around the world". A TikTok trend has dominated the platform and it involves short clips of travel blunders and funny holiday moments with the Jet2 campaign soundtrack. There are currently 1.4 million TikTok videos using the Jet2 jingle and more than 192,000 clips using the hashtag Jet2holidays. What's more mind-blowing is Jet2holidays is a UK operator that only flies to destinations across Europe but the voiceover has reached global online audiences. Zoë, who has worked on the Jet2holidays voiceovers for seven years, was completely taken by surprise when she noticed the audio had gone viral. She said she is 'permanently astonished' and has received messages from people across the world. The 43-year-old mum-of-two, who grew up in Redditch in the Midlands, added: 'TikTok is amazing because it reaches so many people and so many different kind of audiences are on it and responding to things and making really funny content with whatever they can find and you know I guess the voiceover because it's so relentlessly upbeat it lends itself well to parody videos.' Zoë has even been asked to perform the voiceover on stage at festivals in the UK and shared she thinks last year was 'Brat girl summer' and 'this year is like Jet2 girl summer". She explained she first started being sent videos in October of people using the Jet2holidays voiceover on funny travel videos and she saw a post on TikTok or Instagram of someone dressed as Jess Glynne for Halloween and someone else dressed as a flight attendant who did the voiceover. The funniest video Zoë has seen using the viral audio meme is one of a woman on a fast rollercoaster who gets hit in the chest by a flying seagull and then realises she needs to get the bird off her. Zoë explained: 'We (Brits) love to take the mickey out of things and finding everything funny basically but what has been surprising is the fact that the rest of the globe are in on it as well even though they don't know what a Jet2 holiday is.' The voiceover artist revealed that initially she was unsure how Jet2 felt about the viral nature of the meme and two weeks ago she was 'crying' to her husband as she was worried that Jet2 might rebrand. Luckily, she later found that Jet2 'have a great sense of humour' so she didn't need to worry as it has 'turned into the best ad campaign for years'. Zoë's career started as a singer and dancer for Butlins before she moved to London and became an actress, TV writer and began doing voiceovers. She first got involved with Jet2 when they sponsored Love Island and then she ended up doing the whole campaign. The mum-of-two has since done many different ad campaigns for Jet2 which has kept her busy and described it as 'quite a gift of a job.' Zoë also disclosed a new project she is working on inspired by the viral success of the Jet2 campaign: 'I am going to launch a podcast and I think it's going to be called Absurdly Camp Z Lister because I did ask Chat GPT what it was about the voiceover that people have so responded to and Chat GPT was like quite rude and said 'the absurdly camp delivery' and that phrase has really stuck with me and I'm like I'm just going to lean into this.'
