Lisa Hogan reveals tactics for dealing with Jeremy Clarkson
Hogan is best known for appearing on the Amazon Prime documentary series, where she runs the farm shop as former BBC Top Gear presenter Clarkson navigates the challenges of running Diddly Squat Farm.
During filming for the fifth season, Hogan shared that she has learned to use the cameras to her advantage when wanting to say things to her partner that he might not want to hear.
Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, she said: "I've worked out that when he's wearing a mic, he can't interrupt me. So that's when I go for it."
Overall, she avoids arguing with Clarkson, adding: "I'm more conniving than that. Why argue with someone like Jeremy? He's so eloquent. I have to be a bit more… nimble. I like the long-term diplomatic approach."
The pair met at a drinks party hosted by a mutual friend nine years ago, but Hogan said that she knew Clarkson for his columns, with regular contributions for The Sun and The Sunday Times, rather than his TV presenting.
Speaking about Clarkson and what he is like off camera, she said: "He's always incredibly inquisitive.
"His mind is always on the move. He'll come in fizzing with energy about the smallest thing. I like that.
"I used to let my son stay up to watch Top Gear, but I never really watched it myself. I knew him more from his writing. I always loved his columns. I thought he was bright - and probably amusing. And I think he thought I'd be amusing."
Hogan once used tadpoles as a live centrepiece after discovering them in her pond.
She said: "It was fascinating! You could have a conversation and see them wandering around. Well, anyway, I put them back because everyone was pretty freaked out by it, but I could tell he was charmed.
"It's like a tablescape. It's interesting!

She is understood to have left the country and is being sought by cops. Those close to Chris previously revealed his ordeal started last July when he attended the same event as the woman. A representative for Chris told The Sun: "This is an ongoing police investigation, and therefore we are unable to comment at this time. "Chris will not be commenting further.' According to Daily Mail, the 'violent' stalker's actions have included threatening to spread lies about Chris and his wife, Opera singer Camilla Kerslake to social services. A source told the publication: "One of the most terrifying things has been the suggestion that her lies could get their kids could be taken away - it's left them shaken to the core." The source also said: "This isn't just someone making empty threats. "According to other victims, this individual has allegedly set fires, made bomb threats, and has even threatened to blow up children at their schools. A friend said: 'Chris almost turned down Strictly because of what this woman has been putting him and his family through. 'She's made some disgusting threats. It has been awful for them. 'Chris and Camilla have been told by the police they're not alone. This woman has form for what she's been doing to them and has done it to other people too. 'Chris and Camilla are just the latest victims in a string of lives she's tried to destroy. 'He only went ahead with Strictly for his son Wilding. 'He told his dad: 'I want mummy to laugh at your dancing'. So Chris bit the bullet and went for it. 'He was honest with the BBC from the start and they've been amazing. 'They are supporting him and are aware of everything that is going on.'
