Rod Stewart, 80, cancels second concert over health 3 weeks before Glastonbury
The Maggie May rocker, 80, took to Instagram with a heartbroken emoji, and apologised for the news, explaining he was recovering from the flu.
'I'm awfully sorry to have to cancel my show on June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace,' he said.
'My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding.'
On Monday June 2, Sir Rod explained he wasn't 'feeling well' so was postponing his gig that evening until June 10.
This news will be worrying to some UK fans, who are looking forward to seeing Sir Rod light up Glastonbury Festival's Pyramid Stage for the coveted legends slot on Sunday, June 29.
Alongside legends slot performer Sir Rod, headliners include The 1975, Neil Young and Olivia Rodrigo.
Sir Rod has divulged a few details of what Glastonbury goers – as well as viewers on the BBC – can expect from his set, including an on stage reunion with his former Faces bandmate, Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood.
While Sir Rod said he was 'proud' to be returning to the Pyramid Stage 22 years after he headlined the festival, the Do Ya Think I'm Sexy? hitmaker did reveal that the gig will cost him '£300,000'.
'It's going to cost me a fortune to do it – £300,000,' the Maggie May singer told Alan Brazil on talkSPORT Breakfast.
'I've got to bring all my band back from America, of course, Glastonbury don't pay for that.'
He then added that the cost didn't bother him as the slot was an 'honour': 'But I don't care if it cost me $1million, I would have done it. This is a great honour. It really is the greatest honour.'
Posting on social media, following the announcement, Sir Rod said: 'After all these years, I'm proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June. I'll see you there!'
Officially launching in 1998 with Tony Bennett's performance the coveted legends slot, taking place every year on the Sunday afternoon of Glastonbury, is considered as prestigious as a headline slot.
This comes after the full Glastonbury line-up with timings dropped yesterday.
While lots of ticketholders searched for clashes, they were also stumped by a mystery band on the bill called Patchwork – a fake name by Glastonbury organisers to signal a secret set from a famed artist or band. More Trending
While US sisters Haim are heavily rumoured, it's also thought Patchwork could in fact be Pulp, as they drop a new album this week.
According to pal and collaborator Jools Holland, Sir Rod will be bringing his model railways to the Worthy Farm festival.
'He can't bring the whole set because it's enormous. But whenever he's on tour, he'll have a station building which he will take with him to a hotel,' Jools told The Daily Mirror.
Before adding: 'He could create his own little railway that goes around Glastonbury – a little ride-on thing that went up to the Healing Fields, around the jazz tent and back to the Pyramid Stage.'

Brit comic breaks silence on Turkey Zara shoplifting arrest hell
Cerys Nelmes, who works as a stand-up comic in Bristol, is facing a minimum of one-year in prison after she was caught leaving a Zara in Turkey with unpaid items A British comic has broken her silence after being arrested in Turkey for allegedly stealing three items from Zara. Mum-of-one Cerys Nelmes could be sent to a Turkish prison for three years after she was accused of thieving clothes from the Istanbul store on July 22. Police have prohibited Cerys from leaving the country while the claims are investigated. Footage has since emerged of the stand-up comedian first browsing the store with an armful of clothes on hangers and other items in her backpack. She is then seen leaving the store while clearly distracted by her phone. She claims that she completely forgot she was carrying items that she hadn't paid for. She has now taken to Instagram to share details of how she is being treated as a suspect in a criminal case abroad, claiming she's been "left to fend for myself" and hit with a huge £6,500 bill in legal costs. She said: "As much as I love the fact that most people in the UK are thinking that I'm being treated over here exactly like foreign citizens in the UK are treated, that is not the case! "I have been left to fend for myself. The only people helping me have been friends and family. I currently owe over £6500 for a lawyer, interpreters, change of power of attorney, a bed to sleep in and food for breakfast. My country are not helping me whatsoever. And let's remember, it was 3 items, one of which has since been paid for. "I'm currently being held here until the trial. No one knows when that is. The minimum I will get is one year in prison. The maximum is 3 years. For less than £100 in value. I will tell my story when I eventually get home. There's more to it than people think." Cerys previously said she returned to the store without argument over the forgotten 6,000 lira (£110)-worth of clothing still in her backpack. But she told her social media followers she was then detained and locked in a room for hours with no explanation. From there, she was taken to a police station and said she was pressured to sign documents in a language she could not read. She was released on probation by a judge after 24 hours in a holding cell, allegedly with no food, water or loo. She has since been released but has been forbidden from leaving the country and is being put up by a local family as she does not have the money for an extended stay. The police investigation is ongoing. "I was told they didn't understand me," said Nelmes. The next day, she was brought before a judge who released her but banned her from leaving the country. She now faces a potential three-year sentence as the case proceeds. Ms Nelmes says she is stranded in Turkey, unable to afford accommodation and missing out on work back home, putting her and her son at risk of losing their UK home. She said: "I'm ok and have been taken in by a Turkish family who gave me food and a bed. I don't deserve all the kind words from people but I am very grateful." On her website it states of her career: "Cerys has worked very hard to forge a strong career in the comedy industry. She is a leading mc on the comedy circuit, working for major UK clubs and UK charity events. Cerys has a fantastic stage presence and her audience interaction is flawless."

Former Love Island stars Olivia and Alex Bowen announce birth of second child
The pair finished second on the 2016 series of the ITV reality show and have since starred in TLC's Olivia And Alex: Happily Ever After. On Monday, in a shared Instagram post, the couple shared photos of them with their baby girl Siena and son Abel, who was born in 2022. A post shared by Mrs Olivia Bowen (@oliviadbowen) Olivia wrote: 'I can't even find the words other than to say our beautiful girl Siena is here, and we are all bursting with love. 'It wasn't an easy ride but every second worth it a thousand times over. I love my babies.' Among the celebrities congratulating them in the comments was former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison and Love Island stars Shaughna Phillips and Molly Smith. The birth of their second child comes weeks after ITV2 and ITVX announced it had greenlit a reality TV series about the family and the couple's journey into parenthood. Olivia And Alex: Parenthood will offer 'intimate access to the couple's real-life journey as they grow their young family from 3 to 4, whilst dealing with the emotional aftermath of losing one of their twins during early pregnancy', a description from ITV said. Earlier in the year, Olivia revealed she had been pregnant with twins but lost one to due vanishing twin syndrome (VTS) which is a condition where one twin or multiple embryos in a multiple pregnancy are lost during gestation. The couple got married in September 2018 and are one of the rare pairings from the show that have remained together. They announced they were expecting their second child in February. Olivia has previously spoken online about how she felt she would be 'so rubbish as a mum' before the birth of Abel.
