2026 COMPETITION LAUNCH - Middle East Business News and Information

Mid East Info03-06-2025
(Dubai, UAE, 2 JUNE 2025) – The 19 th edition of the Sony World Photography Awards is open for submissions and free for all to enter on worldphoto.org .
The Sony World Photography Awards is a definitive platform for the celebration and discovery of contemporary photography. Since its first edition in 2007, the Awards has recognised the seminal images and stories that shape our visual language and is one of the most prestigious photographic awards programmes in the world, providing global exposure and new opportunities for photographers. Organised by Creo, the Awards form the core part of Creo's photography programming strand, the World Photography Organisation. Sony supports the Awards to help the continued development of photographic culture by giving a global platform to today's talent.
Photographers worldwide are invited to submit to the Awards' four competitions: Professional , celebrating outstanding series of work between five to 10 images across 10 categories; Open , rewarding the best single images of the year across 10 categories; Youth , championing images by emerging talent aged 19 and under; and Student , highlighting the projects of photography students across the globe.
Additional initiatives include the National & Regional Awards , the Latin America Professional Award , the Japan National Award , and the Alpha Female Award , as well as the Sustainability Prize .
Entry to the Awards is free and photographers are judged anonymously by a panel of industry leading judges.
INSIGHTS
Introduced for the 2025 Professional competition and returning for a second year, Insights is an additional prize element that sees the 10 category winners joining a day of tailored sessions in London with leading industry figures. From a range of commercial and institutional backgrounds, these experts offer the photographers specialised guidance on ways to continue to widen their platform and to find new opportunities to showcase their work; from insights into private collectors of photography, to sessions on photobook publishing, and behind the scenes access to the acquisition process of public collections.
STUDENT COMPETITION BRIEF: TOGETHER
For this year's Student competition, photographers are asked to respond to the brief Together. Togetherness can take many meanings, shapes and forms. It is a subject rich for exploration. Throughout history photographers have looked at life in communities in both the human and the natural world, considering the ways that individuals exist as members of a group.
For this year's brief, students are invited to explore the theme of togetherness from any angle they choose, looking at the concept in its broadest sense. From intimate stories of camaraderie to big and small communities working towards shared goals, to places and spaces that bring us together, and patterns of connection in the natural world – the brief invites students of photography to consider the innate need for sociality in all living beings.
Images can be taken on any device, shot in any style, and approached from any angle. While creative responses are encouraged, photographers must stick to the brief.

Tom Holland Unveils "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" Set Photos as Production Begins

Yara Sameh Tom Holland is giving fans a brand new look at 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' Holland shared Sunday on Instagram two on-set photos with the caption, ''Spider-Man Brand New Day' 1.' Both pics show the actor in costume as the web-slinging hero. He is standing on top of what appears to be an armored vehicle while connected to a stunt wire. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tom Holland (@tomholland2013) Holland's post comes just a day after Sony shared a video on social media of the new Spidey Suit for 'Brand New Day.' The footage sees Holland emerge from the shadows in his new ensemble, which more closely resembles the comic-book version than his previous duds. 'We ready?' Holland asks in the video. The new Spidey Suit has more vivid reds and blues, and features a larger spider symbol than his costumes from 'Spider-Man: Homecoming,' 'Far From Home' and 'No Way Home.' 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' hits theaters on July 31, 2026. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Spider-Man (@spidermanmovie) 'Brand New Day' marks the fourth MCU Spider-Man installment from Sony and Disney after 2021's 'Spider-Man: No Way Home.' In that film, Peter Parker's secret identity is revealed to the entire world, and the young hero must turn to Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange for help. He manages to conjure a spell that makes everyone forget Parker is Spider-Man, but not without some unintended side effects. The spell pulls other web-slingers and their respective villains into Parker's dimension, leading to the viral moment between Holland and Sony's previous Spider-Men, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. 'Brand New Day' is based on the Spider-Man comic storyline of the same name. In the comic book story, Parker lands a deal with Mephisto to make the world forget he is Spider-Man and resurrect Aunt May. However, the spell essentially reboots his world and dissolves his marriage with MJ. 'Shang-Chi' helmer Destin Daniel Cretton serves as director on 'Brand New Day.' Jon Bernthal's the Punisher and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner, aka the Hulk, will also appear in the movie. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results

Here's Our First Look at "Spider-Man: Brand New Day"

Yara Sameh Tom Holland's new Spider-Man suit received the briefest teaser in a short video for Marvel and Sony's upcoming 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day.' A nine-second video shows a close-up of Holland's Spidey suit with the caption 'something brand new is coming.' It was posted on August 1, which happens to be National Spider-Man Day. At the end of 'Spider-Man: No Way Home,' there's a quick shot of Holland swinging through New York City in a new suit that resembles the classic, bright red-and-blue costume from the comics. At first glance, the 'Brand New Day' teaser seems like it's similar to that costume, with its sharper colors and raised black edges. There is also a faint, black spider webbing design that's a nod to the original Marvel comics. Marvel fans will have to wait a year for 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' which is the next entry in the MCU. Holland will suit up and swing back into theaters on July 31, 2026. The fourth 'Spider-Man' film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Cretton previously collaborated with MCU on 2021's 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.' That Marvel film was praised for its crazy kung-fu action sequences and story, which seems like a great fit for Holland's wall-crawling superhero. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' will see the return of fellow franchise stars like Zendaya, who plays Peter Parker's girlfriend M.J. Jones-Watson, and Jacob Batalon, who's his best friend Ned Leeds. There are some major additions to the cast as well, like Jon Bernthal, who plays the violent Punisher. He was last seen in Season 1 of 'Daredevil: Born Again' and is expected to return for Season 2, along with a TV special. Bernthal's 'The Bear' co-star Liza Colón-Zayas is also joining 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' as is 'Stranger Things' standout Sadie Sink. Their roles remain mysteries, but fans have theorized Sink could be playing the red-haired 'X-Men' character Jean Grey, who's a powerful telepath. The last time Holland suited up as Spidey was in 2021's 'No Way Home,' which saw past Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield cross over into the MCU. After the heroes defeated several multiversal villains, Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange casted a spell that made everyone in the world forget that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
