Kamal Kaur Murder: Mika Singh Slams Amritpal Singh Mehron, Urges Action Against Killers
New Delhi: Days after self-styled radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh Mehron claimed responsibility for the murder of Punjabi social media influencer Kamal Kaur, also known as Kanchan Kumari, popular Bollywood singer Mika Singh publicly condemned the act and criticised Mehron in a strongly-worded video message that has since gone viral.
In the video, Mika Singh expresses outrage over the incident, sarcastically referencing the murder and highlighting the damage it has caused to the Sikh community's global reputation. 'An influencer has been murdered. Amazing! What a proud moment." He continued, 'My name is Mika Singh. I belong to a Sikh family, and I am so proud that two Sikhs killed the woman. Very good! Until now, Sikhs were known for helping people… this is something very different.'
He further criticised Mehron and his followers for targeting women over clothing choices and online content, questioning their priorities. 'Are you so free to see who is dancing, who is wearing short clothes, to go and kill them? If you are so courageous, then there are many other problems in the world, go and handle those.'
Mika accused Mehron of tarnishing the legacy of Sikhism, a community long celebrated for its selfless service and humanitarian efforts. 'The Sikh community is known for feeding millions through langars, for being the first to help during COVID-19… but you are making us infamous for killing women,' he stated.

According to reports from IANS, Amritpal Singh Mehron, allegedly the mastermind behind the murder, has fled the country and is currently believed to be hiding in Dubai. The Punjab Police have arrested two of his alleged accomplices, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, after the victim's body was found in a car parked in Bathinda.
For those unversed, Kamal Kaur, widely recognised on social media as 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi,' was reportedly targeted by a group of Nihangs, who accused her of disrespecting Sikh religious sentiments through her online content. According to police, she was lured, isolated, and then strangled inside a vehicle by the accused, following a plan orchestrated by Mehron.
In a separate video released by Mehron before fleeing, he claimed responsibility for the murder and warned other content creators not to 'defile Sikh traditions.' He alleged that the influencer's content was 'obscene' and an insult to Sikh values. 'Khalsa never attacks women,' he said, 'but when a woman mocks our Takhts and our Gurus, we will not spare them.'
Reacting strongly to this, Mika Singh said: 'On one hand, we have martyrs like Bhagat Singh who laid down their lives for the country. On the other, we now have people who believe killing a woman is bravery.'
He urged the Punjab government and law enforcement agencies to take strict action against the perpetrators. 'I request the Punjab government to find the truth and punish the killers. I support Harjeet Singh Rasulpur, and I am ready to help him in every possible way. I stand by the truth,' Mika concluded.
The murder has sparked widespread public outrage and reignited conversations around online freedom, women's safety, and religious extremism in Punjab.

The Enforcement Directorate has issued a fresh summons to Robert Vadra, the businessman husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, for questioning in a money laundering case linked to UK-based arms consultant Sanjay Bhandari, official sources said on Monday. He has been asked to depose before the federal probe agency here on June 17 for the recording of his statement in this case that is being investigated under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), the sources said. Vadra, 56, was called for questioning in the case on June 10 but he skipped, saying he had flu-like symptoms on June 9 and had undertaken a COVID test as per protocol. His lawyer had then said that Vadra had no intention of avoiding summons and was ready to appear before the ED anytime before or after his travel abroad later this month. The agency is understood to have summoned Vadra to record his statement under the PMLA and subsequently file a chargesheet in the case. The federal probe agency had questioned the businessman for three consecutive days in April in a separate money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in a 2008 land deal in Haryana. He is being investigated in three money laundering cases by the ED. Bhandari (63) fled to London in 2016, soon after the Income Tax Department raided him in Delhi. A UK court earlier this month refused an application filed by the Indian government seeking permission to appeal in Britain's Supreme Court against the discharge of Bhandari in an extradition case, virtually ruling out chances of him being brought to the country to face the law. The ED filed a chargesheet in this case in 2023, alleging that Bhandari acquired the 12, Bryanston Square house in London in 2009 and got it renovated "as per the directions of Robert Vadra, who provided the funds for the renovation". Vadra has denied that he owns any London property directly or indirectly. Terming the charges a "political witch hunt", Vadra said he was being "hounded and harassed" to subserve political ends. The ED is also investigating Vadra in a separate money laundering case linked to alleged financial irregularities in a land deal in Rajasthan's Bikaner.

The Akal Takht Sahib's head granthi, Giani Malkit Singh, on Monday justified the recent murder of Punjabi social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, also known as Kamal Kaur or 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi', stating that the act was 'appropriate' in light of her alleged role in promoting obscenity. In a statement to the media, Giani Malkit Singh said, 'Those who defame religions by spreading vulgarity under false identities must be stopped. Such actions are against the principles of our faith.' He further asserted that similar incidents have occurred in the past and urged youth to avoid listening to obscene content. Two Nihangs murdered a woman—should they be applauded for it?' Calling for immediate action, Mika Singh added, 'Our community has always stood for protecting others, not killing unarmed women. If someone is doing wrong, go to the authorities. Murder is utterly condemnable.' He urged Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to take strict action, saying, 'No one has the right to take someone's life. That's what the police and courts are for.'
