Broncos have to fill 5 positions on Sean Payton's coaching staff
The Denver Broncos were hit hard by other clubs poaching coaching staff talent this offseason.
The Broncos lost assistant special teams coach Chris Banjo to the New York Jets, passing game coordinator John Morton to the Detroit Lions and tight ends coach Declan Doyle to the Chicago Bears.
The 2025 Broncos are the first team since the 2021 Los Angeles Rams to have three coaches poached for coordinator jobs, according to KUSA-TV's Mike Klis.
Additionally, Denver fired special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica and inside linebackers coach Greg Manusky. That gives the team five total positions on Sean Payton's staff that need to be filled this offseason.

Ex-senior personnel executive David Shaw also left for a coaching role with the Lions, but his old position is not necessarily one that needs to be filled.
Former New Orleans Saints interim coach/special teams coach Darren Rizzi is considered a top candidate to get the special teams coordinator job in Denver, and Phil Galiano could join him as an assistant.
Former New England Patriots tight ends coach Bob Bicknell could be a potential candidate to fill the TEs coach position in Denver, per Klis. Bicknell coached with Broncos senior offensive assistant Pete Carmichael with the New Orleans Saints from 2022-2023 when Carmichael was an offensive coordinator.

The Ballpark General Improvement District surrounding Coors Field in Denver began its ambassador program three months ago after businesses and residents chose to tax themselves to fund the GID. Its role is to help make the area safer and cleaner for residents and visitors. Now, the district has a new leader with a new vision. The search for its first executive director was national, but in a sea of more than 350 applicants it was a Ballpark neighborhood resident who got the job. Kate McKenna's first day was Wednesday but is already looking at ways to expand their efforts. Mckenna also lives in the area and has already seen an enormous change over the last three months. "The amount of what I call linger longer; people, positive loitering, the cleanliness, the friendliness, has just been tenfold," said McKenna. Kate McKenna CBS McKenna moved to the area from Chicago a year ago and was excited about the opportunity to lead the improvement efforts as the first executive director. "Strategically, we're looking for clean, green, and safe as our main initiatives. And I would say that my role is going to be pivotal in being the administration behind that, making sure that the promises are met, that the accountability is there, and that we maintain focus while bringing the community together. Really a liaison of sorts." She previously worked with the improvement district surrounding Wrigley Field, where the Chicago Cubs play, and will lean on their success as inspiration. Her hope is that more people will be drawn to the area year-round by supporting the neighborhood's culture and business. CBS "We do have that sort of heart and culture here, beyond just the MLB team. I think being able to replicate some of their successes by making sure that we're advocating and patronizing the small businesses before and after and during the games, if you earn a ticket holder, is really what's going to keep us in that forward momentum." The area could get a more colorful makeover in the future. "My personal desire is to paint everything," she said. "It's a very accessible and very positive change for any neighborhood. Even if it's just project-by-project basis, you're going to see a lot of new and exciting things in the area."

Lindor healing from broken toe and could be lineup for Mets this weekend, Manaea makes rehab start
DENVER (AP) — Shortstop Francisco Lindor's broken toe is healing fast enough that he may soon be back in the lineup for the New York Mets. Possibly even this weekend. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said before Friday's game against Colorado that Lindor did some running and went through some drills in the cage. He might even have some type of availability Friday, Mendoza added. Lindor's right pinky toe was broken by a pitch from Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin in the first inning on Wednesday. He sat out Thursday. 'I feel a little bit better today than how I felt yesterday,' Mendoza said about Lindor's availability against last-place Colorado. 'I thought maybe even the full series. But watching him today, talking to him, I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the lineup (Saturday) or the next day.' Ronny Mauricio filled in for Lindor at shortstop against the Rockies on Friday, while Brandon Nimmo was in the leadoff spot. Lindor is hitting .279 with 14 homers and 36 RBIs this season. He finished runner-up to Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani in the NL MVP race last season. In Wilmington, Delaware, Mets lefty Sean Manaea made a rehab start for High-A Brooklyn against the Blue Rocks. He threw 36 pitches — 26 strikes — over 1 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and three earned runs. Manaea, who has been sidelined all season by an oblique injury, struck out two and didn't walk a batter. Despite Sean Payton's promise to get Audric Estime more touches in 2025 and the excitement around rookie RJ Harvey, the running back position is one of the weaknesses of the Denver Broncos. Advertisement This suggested trade would add a proven lead back to the mix, give Harvey time to develop, and add overall depth and talent to the position. Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport suggested the Broncos could trade for Falcons running back Tyler Allgeier. Allgeier is entering his fourth year in the league, and after a stellar rookie season, his numbers have diminished. However, it's not because of a lack of talent on his end, it's because of the emergence of eighth-overall pick Bijan Robinson. As Davenport stated in his explanation, Robinson became a true workhorse for the Falcons last season. He garnered 365 touches, which was second in the league behind Saquon Barkley. Advertisement Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski added that the Falcons should explore trading the fourth-year running back because he has no incentive to sign an extension with Robinson as the workhorse in the backfield. Sobleski believes Allgeier has the workhorse ability, and the Falcons could get a Day Two pick for the back. In his rookie season, Allgeier had 210 carries for 1,035 yards. If you look back at college, Allgeier ran for 2,736 yards and 36 touchdowns in his final two years at BYU. That describes a workhorse pretty clearly. Advertisement This would make sense for the Broncos in the short term, but they'd likely look for Estime or Harvey to pay off in the long term. Estime had a slow rookie season, but Payton believes with adequate volume, he can make strides in 2025. As for Harvey, there's plenty of hype around the second-round draft pick. The addition of Allgeier would give the Broncos a proven workhorse, but could it slow the progression of their last two draft picks at the position? Allgeier does have the potential to be a starter in the NFL, and the Broncos, while full of potential, are one of the weaker proven backfields in the league.
