Sir Rod Stewart wanted long Glastonbury set
The 80-year-old singer will play the coveted Legends slot at the festival in Worthy Farm, Somerset, South West England, later this month and he is finding it "difficult" to put his set list together because he won't be on stage for as long as he'd like to be, which he fears will mean fans are left disappointed.
He told the new issue of Radio Times magazine: "It's difficult because they only gave me an hour-and-a-quarter slot. So I begged them: can I do another 15 minutes? Because usually I play for two hours.
"It means that there's a lot of songs that people love that I won't be able to play – and I've got three guests coming on."
The Maggie May hitmaker clarified his guests are all singers, though he wouldn't say who, as well as his Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood.
Despite his set list struggles, Rod has promised his performance will be "special".
He said: 'But I'm really looking forward to it. And it is a different gig. It's like when you're playing a cup final: you're trying to treat it like another game. But, of course, it's not. It's special.
'It'll be glamorous, it'll be sexy. Not me – I'm talking about the other members of the group! And we've got a little orchestra coming on to play with us. And we may have some bagpipes…'
And though Rod admitted he will be losing money by playing Glastonbury, he insisted it "doesn't matter".
He said: "It was about eight months ago when I was asked to do it, maybe a little longer.
"But it didn't fit with my schedule because I've got to bring everybody back from America..
"[With shipping and staging] it's going to cost me £300,000 to do it and they only pay you about 120,000 quid. So, it's going to cost me.'
The You Wear It Well singer loves the afterparties he throws following a gig.
He said: 'All the girls come, we all get showered, all the girls are dancing.
'We put music on and we're all having a laugh. It's so much more fun than it was in the old days with just the guys."

Despite Chris claiming the group will stop making records after their 12th LP, his bandmate Guy Berryman insisted the band are "years away" from retirement. The bassist said he took his bandmate's prediction 'with a pinch of salt' as he believes he will 'never stop writing'. Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine in December, he said: 'Chris is never going to stop writing, so I kind of take it with a little bit of a pinch of salt. 'We're still years away from any kind of retirement. But I think you have to have a plan. If you're running a marathon, you know you have to run 26 miles. But if somebody said to you, 'OK, start running and just don't stop,' it's quite hard to motivate yourself.' Chris explained that he wants Coldplay to keep their legacy intact by only making 12 "proper albums". Speaking to Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, he said: 'We are only going to do 12 proper albums and that's real. Yeah. I promise. 'Because less is more. And for some of our critics, even less would be even more! It's really important that we have that limit. 'There's only seven Harry ¬Potters. There's only 12 and a half Beatles albums. There's about the same for Bob Marley, so all of our heroes. 'Also having that limit means the quality control is so high right now, and for a song to make it, it's almost impossible, which is great. And so where we could be coasting, we're trying to improve.' He went on: 'There's something about the Coldplay thing. That's just what . . . I don't know where the songs come from. I don't know where the ideas come from, but that's just been coming to me for about four or five years now. 'Like, 'You have to finish like this,' and I trust that just like I trust the songs. So if we do something together after that creatively beyond touring, then it'll be something different, or a side thing, or a compilation of things we hadn't finished.' Chris suggested he and his bandmates – also including Jonny Buckland and Will Champion – won't want to spend the rest of their lives making Coldplay records. He added: 'Also, to make an album great as a band, it's such a lot of wrangling with people and I want to give the ¬others some of their life for themselves. 'I don't want to, when we're 60, be like, 'Will, we need you. Come on! We can do better than this!''

Craig David wants to headline Glastonbury
Craig David wants to headline Glastonbury. The 44-year-old singer last performed on the famous Pyramid Stage at the Worthy Farm festival in 2017 and would jump at the chance to play Glastonbury again, when it returns in 2027. He told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: 'I would love to go back. You know what Glastonbury means to any artist. 'When I performed on the Pyramid Stage, it was one of the most iconic moments for me. "I could see that there were so many people from so many different walks of life who'd come to see a myriad of different artists. 'I'd never seen so many people and I thought that is what it is normally like. 'People were like, 'No, Craig, the crowd went over the bank at the back and that is huge.' It was just amazing.' Meanwhile, Craig is preparing for the release of his upcoming ninth album Commitment, 25 years after he dropped his first record Born To Do It. He said: 'Creating Commitment was in a lot of respects very similar to Born To Do It. 'It didn't feel like I was under this pressure to deliver. It felt really relaxed and cathartic. 'I was listening to the music I grew up listening to, like when I made the first album. "It got me into a vibe and then I'd go in the studio until 4am. 'I was just loving it, having so much fun. 'You start to get back to why I originally made music. It's crazy when it's the ninth album in. 'To have a career spanning 25 years, I'm just really grateful, it's a crazy journey we're on.'
