Hilarious footage reveals why Aussie's hotel room is turned upside down in Bali
The footage from the hotel worker revealed the aftermath, with Jazz Walsh and her boyfriend's belongings strewn messily across their hotel room in The Korowai in Uluwatu. The culprit? An opportunistic monkey.
"Hello, good afternoon, Madam. I think monkeys have come into your room earlier through this window," the voice behind the camera can be heard, while clothes, makeup and even a surfboard are lying on the floor.
Jazz told Yahoo News she believes just one monkey was responsible for the mayhem. She initially panicked about her passport and travel money, and rushed back to the hotel room, but those items seemingly weren't of interest to the intruding primate.
"We thought it was funny and quite cute... The monkey was obviously just inquisitive, it's hard to be annoyed at the situation. Just a little bit stressed about our passports and wallets in the room initially, but all were accounted for when we checked," the Sydney woman told Yahoo.
She explained there were only two things the monkey seemed to take an interest in — her toiletries and her AirPods.
"The main bags the monkey took interest in were the toiletry bags that had my skincare in them, and also my travel medicine bag. Took a liking to cold and flu hot drink sachets.
"The lovely hotel hosts saw the monkey drop some AirPods from our balcony so went in to investigate what had happened... only one AirPod was missing, we found the case and the other AirPod," she explained.
Cheeky monkeys continue to keep travellers on their toes in Bali
Jazz isn't the first tourist to run into thieving monkeys while visiting Bali, with many visitors having their belongings stolen by monkeys at temples and other tourist sites.
The Uluwatu Temple — located just over six kilometres from The Korowai — is notorious for monkey theft, with roughly 600 of the animals residing in the area. Often, the only way travellers get their belongings back is when the monkey handlers intervene and negotiate with food.

During one incident in October 2023, a tourist in Bali was seen bargaining with a monkey after it stole her phone. In the viral footage, the woman is seen holding out a bag of suspected grapes, to which the monkey refuses and grips her phone tighter. She then puts the grapes back in her bag, rummages around before revealing a brown fruit, which the monkey takes, before a second is handed to it and the monkey snatches them both, dropping her phone.

Fire at Newport Beachside Hotel in Sunny Isles contained; no injuries reported
A Monday afternoon fire at the Newport Beachside Hotel and Resort was brought under control after crews battled flames and heavy smoke coming from an external garbage chute, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said. The blaze was reported shortly after 2 p.m. at the high-rise hotel on Collins Avenue and Northeast 163rd Street. Fire officials said the fire appeared to be contained to the chute, but crews remained on scene to ventilate the building and search each floor for possible fire extension. No injuries were reported, and the cause remains under investigation. Video posted to social media showed flames racing up the side of the hotel and smoke pouring from the chute. Part of the building is under construction, and fire officials said debris was being funneled through a makeshift chute. "Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units arrived on a heavy fire showing on the outside of the high-rise building," an MDFR spokesperson said. "They immediately went to work to extinguish the fire, but the concern was the smoke that migrated into the structure, so we had to conduct a lot of searches and also ventilate the building as well." Officials said residents and guests were evacuated after heavy smoke filled parts of the structure. Crews also found a mattress smoldering on the sixth floor. Many people staying at the hotel, which operates largely as a timeshare, were outside after the evacuation. Most were tourists visiting South Florida. A resident who lives across from the Newport Beachside said the fire was a reminder of how quickly danger can develop. "It's always concerning, because, you know, I don't think people pay attention a lot of times," the resident said. "The smallest little miscue can throw everything off and you're talking with lives. It's not just the building itself." Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said they are still working to determine exactly what sparked the blaze. Parts of the building remain under construction and investigators are focusing on that area as they look into the cause.

Owner of JD Vance's U.K. Vacation Rental Apologizes to Neighbors for 'Circus' Caused by His Visit
The chaotic Cotswolds trip comes days after the vice president's team reportedly raised the water level of an Ohio river for his birthday boating trip Vice President JD Vance and his security team are under fire again this week, as his family vacation to the United Kingdom has reportedly caused chaos for neighbors of his rental home. After visiting with British Foreign Secretary David Lammey at his home in Kent last week, Vance, 41, and his wife, Usha, 39, traveled with their children, Ewan, 8, Vivek, 5, and Mirabel, 3, to stay at an 18th-century manor house in the Cotswolds. Prior to his arrival, however, the Secret Service reportedly brought disturbances to Charlbury, a village with just 3,000 residents. Preparations for his visit included the installation of checkpoints, the erection of a large antenna behind the house, and the creation of a makeshift helipad in a nearby field. According to The Telegraph, the rental property's owner, Pippa Hornby, sent a message to her neighbors saying she was "so sorry for the circus that is there for the next few days," adding that she hoped the Vances' stay wouldn't be too "disruptive" for locals. Hornby and her husband, Johnny, bought the house in 2017, joining the residents of the posh and picturesque area, sometimes referred to as "the Hamptons of the U.K." The chaotic trip comes just over a week after Vance was criticized for a birthday boating trip in which his security team reportedly ordered for the water level of an Ohio river to be raised so that it could better accommodate him and his family. According to reports fromThe Guardian and The Associated Press, the vice president's Secret Service detail requested that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers change the outflow of a lake into the Little Miami River ahead of Vance's trip to southwest Ohio on Saturday, Aug. 2. Social media posts showed Vance kayaking on the river that day. A statement from USACE given toThe Guardian said that the request from the Secret Service was made to "support safe navigation" for Vance and his family. However, another source alleged that the request was also made to create "ideal kayaking conditions." The Secret Service told the outlet that it could not discuss specifics of its protection plans, but said the agency worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and USACE to plan for motorized watercraft and emergency personnel to operate safely. The agency added that similar techniques had been used in the past, and USACE had determined that it would not "adversely affect downstream or upstream water level." Parker Magid, a spokesman for the vice president, later told the AP that Vance was unaware the river had been raised. "The Secret Service often employs protective measures without the knowledge of the Vice President or his staff, as was the case last weekend," he said. Vance was likely hoping not to raise any red flags during his U.K. vacation, as President Donald Trump is set to make an official state visit in September. It will be a second state visit for Trump, after he visited the late Queen Elizabeth in 2019 during his first term as president. The president and first lady Melania Trump will visit with King Charles and other members of the royal family at Windsor Castle from Sept. 17 to 19. When the official invitation was delivered in June, a palace aid said "His Majesty has known President Trump for many years and looks forward to hosting him and the First Lady later this year." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. However, the Daily Beast reported last month that the King and his inner circle are 'very concerned' about Trump's potential behavior during the visit, given the president's recent comments on immigration in the U.K. and the anti-Trump protests held during his visit to Scotland last month. Trump met with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Trump Turnberry golf course in South Ayrshire, where several protest signs with pro-Palestine and anti-Starmer messaging popped up on the greens. Elsewhere, on Union Terrace near Trump's other Scottish golf course in Aberdeen, a box truck projected the now-infamous photo of the president and Jeffrey Epstein partying together at his Mar-a-Lago club. "Welcome to Scotland, Donald," the sign read. Read the original article on People

A First Look At The Penthouses At W Pompano Beach Hotel And Residences
Pompano Beach's popularity has been quietly heating up over the years as luxury clients seek an alternative to more populated neighboring South Florida cities, like Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Boca Raton, that still offer a range of lifestyle options. The latest luxury project to land in Pompano Beach is the W Pompano Beach Hotel and Residences, backed by real estate developers Related Group and BH Group in collaboration with Marriott International. This marks the first co-located W Hotel and Residences in the Western Hemisphere. It also is a direct reflection of W Hotels' multi-year brand evolution. The W Hotel opened in New York City in 1998 and reshaped the city's nightlife. The hotel brand quickly became known for its nightlife-focused programming, avant-garde architecture and design, and bold branding. Its new chapter will retain W's innovative spirit that has always focused on contemporary luxury with slight shifts that speak to today's luxury buyer through a refreshing and light color palette and sleek, timeless design and more extensive wellness, cultural, social, and family-friendly programming. "It's not the W that your parents went to, it's the W that your parents want to go to now," Patrick Campbell, EVP of Related Group, tells Forbes. 'It's about the evolution of bringing that luxury to the active lifestyle and modern buyer.' Not only is W Pompano Beach a major milestone for the W brand itself, but will help solidify Pompano Beach as a luxury destination on par with other South Florida cities. In addition to the 238-key hotel, there will be 77 luxury residences and nine penthouses set within the 24-story waterfront tower. The brand recently unveiled its nine bespoke penthouse suites, which range in price from $6.5 million to over $15 million. Set on the highest levels of the tower, the penthouses feel like single-family residences in the sky. Layouts range from 3,250 square feet to more than 6,200 square feet of interior space. There are 11-foot-high ceilings throughout, east-to-west windows, sunlit interiors, and sweeping outdoor terraces overlooking the ocean. From nearly every room, the panoramic ocean views take center stage. Interior details include bronze finishes, creamy white furnishings, beautiful stonework, and wood. Clean lines and a modern, minimalist style make each residence feel warm and inviting. "W offers that outdoor Florida living combined with the prestige and prominence of a penthouse," Campbell says. 'Our building has upgraded finishes, chef's kitchens, and added luxury features that can be tailored to the buyer so they can choose the ultimate bespoke luxury home.' Of the nine penthouses available, there are three Premier Penthouses that represent the pinnacle of the collection. These three sprawling residences each span two stories and have a private rooftop terrace with more than 2,800 square feet of space that includes climate-controlled lounges, state-of-the-art summer kitchens, pools, lounge deck, alfresco dining, and landscaped areas. Building amenities exclusively for residents include a 12,000-square-foot outdoor pool deck, fitness center, resident-only lobby, and an owner's club lounge. Residents will also have access to the hotel's restaurants and bars and spa. Campbell explains that while other branded residential projects in Pompano Beach (like the Waldorf Astoria Residences Pompano Beach by Related Group that was announced in 2023), this is the only branded residence where you have true 24/7 service due to the hotel component. Related Group tapped Nichols Architects, who worked in collaboration with Kora Architects, to create the grand tower, while interiors were completed by award-winning Meyer Davis Studio. The penthouses are currently for sale.
