See Zach Braff and Natalie Portman reunite 20 years after 'Garden State'
The duo, which helmed the 2004 film together, took the stage at a "Garden State" 20th anniversary concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
"I'm so happy to be here with Zach Braff, the creator, writer, director, actor of 'Garden State' at the 20th anniversary concert of 'Garden State,'" Portman said in a video with Braff, which she shared on her Instagram story.

Braff added that the event benefited the Midnight Mission, a homeless shelter in Southern California.
"I'm so happy this worked out, it's incredible," he said.
The event featured several artists including The Shins, Iron & WIne, Frou Frou, Colin Hay, Thievery Corporation, Remy Zero, Cary Brothers, Bonnie Somerville and Zero 7 collaborator Sophie Barker, all of whom performed songs from the "Garden State" soundtrack.
During the event, Braff introduced Portman to the stage and she said, "You think I was gonna miss this special night? No way."
"Garden State," which is based on Braff's own experiences, follows a TV actor named Andrew Largeman (Braff) who returns to his small hometown in New Jersey to attend his mother's funeral, according to a synopsis.
"There he is confronted by various aspects of the life he left behind, including his overbearing father (Ian Holm)," the synopsis continues. "Largeman also meets compulsive liar and amateur musician Sam (Portman), with whom he feels an immediate connection. Together with several other figures from his past, Largeman heals old wounds and forges new friendships."

The film's soundtrack won a Grammy in 2005 for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.
Braff also won a Film Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature in 2004.

Clarkson broke down in tears before a performance of "Piece by Piece," the 2015 ballad about Blackstock released two years into their marriage. The song reads as a letter to her estranged father and dives into how Blackstock "restored [her] faith" that "a man can be kind and a father could stay," per the original lyrics. 'I've never rewritten a song more and I probably never will,' Clarkson told the audience before the latest rendition. 'I wrote this song with a lot of hope and projection for happiness and better than what was happening. And then, well, life set in, and I had to change the lyrics. Everybody was like, 'Wait, why aren't you singing this song?' And I was like, 'Have you heard the lyrics?'" Clarkson first changed the lyrics in 2023, a year after her divorce from Blackstock was finalized. "We did it one time, I did a residency here, and then I was like, 'You know what, that sounded a little angry,'" she relationship with the lyrics and its many iterations, Clarkson explained, has since changed. "I just wanted to explain how it feels now. I'm 43. I've done some therapy, and I changed the lyrics now and I think it's perfect. I promise I'm not gonna change it again. The most updated version of the ballad features the new addition: 'I'm learning every day how to love me / I let go of the shame that you taught me / piece by piece I restored the faith / that a heart can still beat even if it breaks.' The singer-songwriter postponed the remainder of her Vegas residency last week, sharing in a statement on Aug. 6 that Blackstock had been ill and that she needed to be present for their children, daughter River Rose, 11, and son Remington Alexander, 9. The dates were moved to late July 2026. "I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows, and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding,' Clarkson said. Kim Coles, best known for her role on 'Living Single,' recently revealed writers pressured her to lose weight during the show's run. Coles, 63, opened up about the situation on a recent episode of the 'ReLiving Single' podcast with former co-star Erika Alexander. 'I would get a call at the beginning of every season to my manager saying, 'Kim Coles has to lose some weight. She has to lose some weight. She has to lose some weight,'' Coles said in the Wednesday episode. The actress recounted an instance where show executives threatened they'd start writing fat jokes into the hit show's script if Coles didn't lose weight. 'You won't remember this, but I told you that they threatened me and said, 'If you keep gaining weight, we're going to have to start writing fat jokes.' And you said, 'I won't read those jokes,'' Coles said to Alexander. The two actresses recalled a weight joke being written into a season one episode and said co-star Queen Latifah made it clear to show runners and cast members that the fat jokes trend would not continue in later seasons.
