Victim robbed of $1K after duped by Facebook scam
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man robbed a victim of $1,000 in cash at gunpoint after luring him to a Whitehaven apartment complex to view a car listed on Facebook Marketplace last year, Memphis Police say.
Jeremy Robertson, 27, is charged with aggravated robbery and is now in jail on a $153,500 bond.

On April 19, 2024, police say a victim reported that he was robbed at gunpoint by two men at the Mill Creek Apartments on 4547 Watermill Drive.
The victim claimed he met up with a man he knows as 'Montrell' regarding a car listed on Facebook Marketplace.
Man gets 55 years for 2023 robbery that ended with murder
'Montrell' is accused of luring the victim to the apartments by telling him the person who had the car would meet them there. After 30 minutes, the victim says an unknown man approached him and put a black semi-automatic handgun to his chest.
That is when police say the suspect told the victim to 'give it up' while Montrell allegedly reached into his pockets and took $1,400 in cash from the victim. The second suspect saw a gun in the victim's wristband and took it, police say.
Both suspects then left the scene together on foot.

On April 22, 2024, the victim gave police a statement and identified Jeremy Robertson as 'Montrell' in a six-person photo lineup.
Robertson is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
On September 11, 2024, Robertson was charged with assault. He is accused of slapping his supervisor after being fired from DHL for 'poor performance.' His bond was set at $3,500.

"It's not fair for people who have to get up and go to work in the morning, or take their kids to school to be woken up at three in the morning, because some people decide to do donuts and set off firecrackers and shoot in the air," said Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson. "They are dangerous. I witnessed a vehicle doing a donut in this intersection. People just feet away. He would have lost control of the car, someone else was burning out, they could have lost control of the car -- anyone could have gotten hurt," said Milwaukee Common Council President Jose Perez. The police gave out four citations. The week before, Mayor Cavalier Johnson announced his support for an ordinance circulating common council. It would fine anyone involved in a street takeover $500. MPD also assigned five "patrol missions" to the north side and five to the south side, along with two tow trucks to crack down on the takeovers and those involved. FOX6 asked police if those missions responded Sunday. MPD wouldn't say. What they're saying "Every year, it happens," said Walter Garron, Puerto Rican Festival Parade President. More than two miles away, Garron led the Puerto Rican Parade. "Puerto Ricans feel proud, and they want to get their flags and sometimes people get carried away," said Garron. Garron says the parade had nothing to do with the takeover. The festivities were over by 7 p.m. He says he's frustrated because, every national Puerto Rican day parade, this happens. "If people already know that this happens every year, why don't they prepare? Make the correct measurements for the closures on the street," added Garron. MPD: False carjacking report leads to two arrests
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A driver who claimed he was carjacked early Saturday morning was charged with making a false report after police determined he made up the story. Edwin Blandon Moren, 45, allegedly told officers that two men in a white sedan pulled him out of his Ford F-150 at Macon and Highland and drove off in the vehicle. He said they also took his cell phone, cash, and credit cards. Where did 100,000 registered vehicles go in Shelby County? The Ford pickup was spotted a couple of hours later in a parking lot on Summer Avenue, and police arrested a woman who jumped out of the vehicle and tried to run away. Investigators said Moreno later admitted he had picked up a woman on Summer and went to a motel with her. He said that while he was in the shower, she took his wallet and drove off in his truck. Adrienne Campbell, 26, was charged with theft of property and evading arrest and is being held on a $25,000 bond. Court records show Campbell was arrested twice in 2024 for similar crimes. MPD: Home burglarized while suspects were live on Facebook In one case, she was accused of stealing a car from a female friend, and in another case, from a man who had given her a ride. MPD: Suspect targets multiple businesses, causes costly damages to AC units
MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- The Midland Police Department has once again asked for help from the community to identify a suspect accused of targeting multiple businesses and causing costly damages. The MPD said it's investigating more than 20 similar cases and adding to that case load each week, but the investigation began in late April when the unknown suspect in the video above was caught on camera at Lone Star Heating and Cooling, located at 3216 Commerical Drive. Investigators said the suspect approached AC units outside the business and stripped the copper off of four units, which damaged the units to the tune of $10,000. 'We believe it is primarily one individual,' said Lieutenant Jason Lee at a news conference Monday. MPD said they think it's the same suspect who has hit multiple businesses in industrial areas of Midland and has been damaging AC units for profit. 'We believe it's the copper, the high resale and salvage value,' Lee said. Stripping the coils and copper wire has rendered the AC units in these cases inoperable and is costly to fix. Two units damaged at Sustaita Services cost about $5,000 to repair, a Midland Crime Stoppers spokesperson said. Anyone with information about the suspect has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 432-694-TIPS and reference case number 250416302 or 250408300.
