Video of police helicopter's emergency water landing in Johor goes viral [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A video of a police helicopter making an emergency landing near Sungai Pulai, Gelang Patah, has gone viral on social media.
The short clip shows the helicopter descending before making a large splash in the water.
Several Marine Police and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) boats are seen circling the area to rescue the personnel on board as the video continues.
All five policemen on board the helicopter have been sent to hospital.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said the personnel, comprising two senior officers and three rank-and-file members, are receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.
"They have been transferred to the hospital for further examination and medical treatment," he said in a statement today.
It is understood that the crew were participating in the Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand-Singapore Maritime Operation (MITSATOM) 2025 training exercise.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) confirmed the incident, which involved an AS355N helicopter that had departed from the Tanjung Kupang police station at 9.51am.
All five occupants, including the pilot, were rescued by the Marine Police Force and transported to the MMEA jetty.
An investigation has been launched by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Transport Ministry, in accordance with Part XXVI of the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016.

Photo of 'B-2' over Saratok sparks speculation, but CAAM says no such flight

KUALA LUMPUR: There is no record of any flight resembling a stealth bomber over Saratok, Sarawak, following viral claims of a sighting, the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) said. Its chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud said no application or clearance had been granted for such an aircraft in the area. "However, there is drone activity in the Saratok and Pantu areas, for which a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) was issued," he told the New Straits Times. It was reported that images circulated online appeared to show the silhouette of an aircraft some likened to the American B-2 Spirit. The photo, taken near a longhouse in Saratok, has sparked speculation on the r/Malaysia subreddit as to whether a B-2 Spirit stealth bomber was seen flying over the area. The B-2 Spirit is a long-range, heavy stealth bomber developed by Northrop Grumman for the United States Air Force. Designed to penetrate dense anti-aircraft defences, the aircraft is capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear weapons. Its distinctive flying-wing design and radar-absorbing materials make it difficult to detect by radar, giving it a significant advantage in modern warfare. Introduced in the 1990s, the B-2 remains one of the most advanced and expensive military aircraft ever built, with only 21 units produced. It has been deployed in multiple combat operations, including in Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya, typically flying from bases in the United States to targets across the globe. It recently played a key role in striking Iran's nuclear sites, specifically the Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan facilities. These strikes, part of Operation Midnight Hammer, were carried out with precision and aimed at neutralising Iran's nuclear programme.

Police helicopter wreckage expected to be recovered within days

JOHOR BARU: The wreckage of the police-owned AS355N helicopter that crashed in Sungai Pulai, Gelang Patah, on Thursday is expected to be recovered from the water tomorrow or the day after. Internal Security and Public Order Department's Air Operations Force Commander Datuk Noor Sham Md Jani said the operation would be carried out with the assistance of the navy or the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). "We expect the wreckage to be lifted soon with help from either the navy or the maritime agency. "This is so that the Air Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) can conduct further investigation into the incident. "God willing, the aircraft will be raised either tomorrow or the day after for the necessary procedures," he told reporters today after visiting the five crew members currently receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) here. The AS355N police helicopter crashed near the Malaysian Maritime jetty in Gelang Patah during a fly-past demonstration as part of the Multilateral Nuclear Security Detection Exercise (MITSATOM) 2025 involving Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore. The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), in a statement, said the helicopter, bearing registration number 9M-PHG, took off from the Tanjung Kupang police station at 9.51am with five people onboard, including the pilot. Noor Sham also confirmed that the aircraft's voice recorder remains within the submerged wreckage. He said the device contains vital recordings of communication between the helicopter and ground personnel. "That's what we want to review, namely the communication that took place and how the incident unfolded," he added.

Photo near Saratok sparks speculation of possible sighting of American B-2 Spirit bomber in Sarawak

KUALA LUMPUR, July 13 — A photo taken near a longhouse in Saratok has sparked speculation on the r/Malaysia subreddit about whether a B-2 Spirit bomber was seen flying over the area. Reddit user Anubiroz posted the image, saying it was taken by a friend in the afternoon and showed a shape that looked a bit suspicious 'for a kite or a drone.' 'Taken by a friend near his long house at Saratok in the afternoon... Zoom in... does it look like a kite or a stealth bomber. He said it made a swish sound.. Hmmmm. Looks kinda sus [sic] for a kite or a drone. Any ideas?' Anubiroz wrote on Reddit. Another user, Monsta_Owl, commented that it looked like a 'B2 bomber by the looks of it,' a view echoed by several others in the thread. The B-2 Spirit bomber is a long-range stealth aircraft used by the United States Air Force, capable of carrying conventional and nuclear weapons while remaining difficult to detect on radar. The aircraft, which has been operational since the 1990s, was used in strikes in Iran in 2025, underscoring its continued role in US precision missions. There has been no official confirmation of military aircraft activity in the Saratok area, and it remains unclear whether the object in the photo was a B-2 bomber, a drone or a kite.
