South Carolina teacher makes shocking revelation as she appears in court for molesting boy when he was 14

Daily Mail15-07-2025
A South Carolina teacher was seen smirking in court while her lawyer fought for her release after revealing she is pregnant.
Nicole Ballew Callaham, 33, voluntarily turned herself into the Anderson County Detention Center on Thursday for allegedly molesting a boy, Grant Stickland, when he was 14 years old.
On Monday, Callaham strolled into the courtroom for her bond hearing in Anderson, about 40 minutes outside of Greenville, smiling as she looked at her family support system, which included her fiancé.
'Miss Callaham is eight to nine weeks pregnant,' her attorney, William Epps III, told the judge as his client, dressed in a red prison jumpsuit, stood beside him.
Epps then asked the court to consider her presumed innocence and let her out on bond, insisting that she needs to receive prenatal care - something he said she has not gotten while behind bars.
He also said she poses no danger to the public, citing her eight-year career as an elementary school teacher and having no criminal history.
There was no suggestion by either the defense or the prosecution that the baby was conceived with the victim.
Greenville Municipal Court Judge Matthew Hawley granted her request for bond, but under several conditions.
'I am going to set a surety bond on each of these in the amount of $10,000, as they did in Anderson, for a total of $120,000 surety,' Hawley said, adding that she must remain under house arrest with GPS monitoring and cannot contact Strickland.
Callaham must also undergo a mental and physical evaluation to determine if she can stand trial, the judge ordered.
Hawley established a 'red zone' Callaham must avoid so she does not come within a mile of the victim's home in Anderson County.
Strickland, now 18, claims he was abused by the former kindergarten teacher from 2021 until 2023 in Anderson.
Authorities said the alleged abuse started when he was 14, his mom claims they first met at an audition for a Legally Blonde musical production which Callaham directed.
Callaham, who is married with children, is facing three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Speaking outside of court following the hearing last week, Strickland told reporters he almost didn't survive the ordeal.
'I would never want someone to go through what I went through, I don't think most people could be strong enough to survive it. Because I almost didn't,' he said.
Strickland added that he hoped his coming forward would increase awareness of the issue.
He added: 'All I really want the public to know is that though it's a traumatic event I am here to fight and I'm not going to back down.'
Strickland continued: 'I think awareness needs to be brought to things like this, just because I am a man doesn't mean it should be shunned away. I was a child, I wasn't a man, I was a boy.'
On seeing Callaham, who appeared in court via livestream, he said he felt like a weight had been lifted.
'I don't think I would've been able to move on if it wasn't for the support from family and loved ones, and being able to come out about it', he added.
The Anderson County Sheriff's Office said that at the time of the allegations, Callaham was an Anderson County School teacher, she has since resigned.
The school district said that she had worked at Homeland Park Primary School from 2017 until she resigned in May of this year.
In a statement, the sheriff's office said that Callaham would sign Strickland out of school and serve as a supervisor for after-school activities.
Authorities said these repeated interactions led to a prolonged pattern of abuse, which they corroborated with warrants and help from Strickland and his family.
They added that Strickland came forward after he turned 18, having spent time processing the 'trauma associated with the abuse.'
She is also facing a number of charges in nearby Greenville County, if the bond is met she will be transported there for a separate bond hearing.
The Greenville Police Department brought similar charges against her, alleging the conduct extended into their jurisdiction as Strickland attended school there.
Following her arraignment and if the bond is met, she will be transported to the Greenville County for a separate bond hearing.
Callaham is charged with eight counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor, and four counts of unlawful conduct towards a child.
A trial date has not yet been set.
Strickland's mother released a statement at the hearing also, saying: 'We truly thought she believed in his talent and was helping him grow and build his confidence.
'We trusted her completely with our son, as she seemed to be a wonderful mentor to our son and other young actors and actresses by investing in them.
'Looking back, it sickens me knowing Nikki manipulated our son and our family. She was waiting on this opportunity, and she found the perfect victim and family to prey on perfect meaning.
'She saw our son's innocence and that he was very easily manipulated and drawn into her perfect meaning.
'She saw a family who had a lot of love and kindness to share with those who needed it.'
The Clemson City Police Department is also investigating the case.

Gun-nut thug held SHOTGUN to Scots victim's face over £30 debt – but she had final revenge

A MANIAC who held a shotgun to a terrified woman's head was nailed after she bravely snapped him holding the weapon. Crazed Gary Strachen is seen holding the huge 'unsafe' gun after going into rage against the woman after row over £30. 2 2 The 46 year-old left the woman in tears when he stormed into a bedroom and brandished the firearm at her. But despite her fear she still managed to snap him clutching the gun on her mobile phone. The photos helped police catch him for the gun crime and he was yesterday jailed for more than five years at the High Court in Glasgow. The woman was known to Strachen who'd been at her flat in the city's Scotstoun on August 12 last year. The victim had called her mother asking for a loan of £30 who'd agreed but made an error in transferring the cash. That send Strachen into a rage. Prosecutor Kath Harper KC said: 'This caused Strachen to become annoyed and an argument started. 'He screamed and shouted at her. This caused the woman to go into a bedroom. 'Strachen then burst in minutes later waving a sawn-off shot gun and pointed it at her.' The court heard he went on to press the barrel of the weapon against the terrified woman's cheek and then forehead. The victim told Strachen she was going to call the police. He replied: 'Do it, go for it. Do it right in front of me.' It was soon after the woman managed to capture Strachen brandishing the gun before he fled the flat with the weapon. The woman dialled 999 then called her mum. She was described as 'crying uncontrollably'. Strachen was not immediately traced but the weapon was found wrapped in a towel at a unit he rented in Clydebank, Dunbartonshire. It was said to be 'not a traditional shotgun', but an old musket which firearms officers could not make safe. It was in fair condition and was apparently in working order. DNA linked Strachen to the gun. He was eventually arrested by police two weeks later, but made no comment initially about the incident at the flat. The court heard Strachen had 28 previous convictions for crimes including for violence, disorder and drugs although had never been given a jail-term. He was on bail for this latest crime. Strachen admitted to charges of assault and possession of a firearm. Lord Colbeck locked him up for five years and three months. The term was cut from six years and eight months due to the guilty pleas. The judge: 'You appear to diminish the effect of what you did by insisting the woman has forgiven you. 'it cannot be disputed that serious psychological harm was caused. 'However one looks at it, behaving as you did with a sawn-off shotgun reflects a high degree of culpability.' After the hearing, prosecutors praised the bravery of the woman involved.

Girl from bad home whose mother is nightmare neighbor arrested over love triangle murder of boy, 16

A teenage girl arrested in a twisted murder plot against a 16-year-old boy who was allegedly lured to his death by a love rival comes from a difficult family that neighbors describe as a nightmare to live next to. Corrine Belviso, 18, is among nine teenagers to have been charged in connection with the murder of Trey Dean Wright, who was shot dead following an altercation in Johnsonville, South Carolina, on June 24. Wright was allegedly lured to a remote rural location on First Neck Road by his girlfriend, Gianna Kistenmacher, 17, where another teenager, 19-year-old Devan Raper, was waiting to confront him violently in front of a gang of onlookers. The deadly confrontation - which investigators believe stemmed from a romantic rivalry - was captured on video by at least one teen in the crowd. The footage shows Raper pulling the trigger several times, striking and killing Wright, police allege. Raper was arrested and charged with murder the following day, along with Kistenmacher, who was charged as an accessory before the fact. Belviso was charged with murder three days later, along with two other teens, Hunter Matthew Kendall, 18, and Sydney Marissa Kearns, 17. Police have not revealed the roles they allegedly played in Wright's death. Neighbors of Belviso in Myrtle Beach were seemingly unsurprised to learn of her connection to the brutal crime, describing her family as difficult and hostile. 'They're always throwing wild parties and they have trucks going up and down the street at two or three in the morning,' Michael Vanglahn told WTBT. '[It's not a surprise] based on the people that she hangs out with, you know, and the people that her mom allows her to hang out with and the people she invited in.' Another neighbor, who asked not to be named, told the network they've had multiple issues with Belviso and her family, both online and in person. 'They were having a party one night and when I came out, I was just like, 'Hey, can you please calm down? It's almost 2 am,' and they wanted to get into a fight with me,' said the neighbor. 'I was just trying to come out and let them know… I'm not going to call the police or nothing. I used to be a kid. I understand, have fun – I get that. But I have a six-year-old daughter, and I have a wife. This is a neighborhood. This isn't party central.' Court records obtained by the Daily Mail show that Belviso's mom, Phyllis Belviso, has an extensive rap sheet, including charges for alleged drug possession, various traffic infractions, and a domestic violence charge in 2016 that was later dismissed. She owns an office cleaning company in the Myrtle Beach area and describes herself as a loving mother of three children, social media posts show. Phyllis Belviso has not yet returned a request for comment. Her daughter posted her $20,000 bond last week and has been placed on house arrest until trial. Four other teenagers have since been arrested in connection with Wright's death, but have not yet been named, bringing the total number charged to nine. A 10th teen is expected to surrender to police soon, News 13 reported. Maj. Michael Nunn of the Florence County Sheriff's Office said those arrests involved individuals who were 'complicit' in bringing Raper to the scene of the shooting, 'knowing there would be a confrontation.' 'They knew that Raper had presented a firearm to the victim and made threats to shoot him, according to the arrest warrants,' Nunn added. Raper has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He remains behind bars at the Florence County Detention Center after being denied bail by a judge. Police claim Raper had previously flashed a firearm at Wright and threatened to shoot him. Gianna Kistenmacher, the victim's 17-year-old girlfriend, has been accused of playing a significant role in the killing. According to the sheriff's office, she brought her boyfriend to meet with Raper - knowing he was armed and likely to kill Wright. She was arrested and charged with accessory before the fact to a felony, but has since been granted bond and released to home confinement. Devan Scott Raper, 19, is the accused shooter. Gianna Kistenmacher, the victim's 17-year-old girlfriend, was the second to be arrested and charged as an accessory Hunter Kendall has since posted bond, while Sydney Kearns remains behind bars. Posts to Wright's TikTok page hinted at an ongoing conflict and relationship issues before his death. In a video uploaded just days before, he is seen dancing alongside a friend, with a caption referring to an an unnamed girl he credits to being the 'reason I wake up and smile every day.' 'I fear no female,' a caption in another video read. 'What's she gonna do? Talk about me on her private story?' Other videos included vague references to fighting. '[R]emember gang, you swing, I swing,' read one post from April. Five of the nine teens charged so far will be tried as adults, Nunn said. In a video uploaded just days before, Wright is seen dancing alongside a friend, with a caption referring to an an unnamed girl he credits to being the 'reason I wake up and smile every day.' Nunn expects one more person to turn themselves in. According to officials, the decision to charge multiple defendants with murder was not taken lightly. 'The hand of one being the hand of all is part of South Carolina law as well, so that's the basis of the charge for each of those individuals,' said Nunn. Sheriff T.J. Joye earlier said the shooting was believed to have been caused by a romantic rivalry. 'They had issues with each other, and it was over a female,' Joye told local media 'The sad thing is, you got a 16-year-old who lost his life. You've got a 19-year-old who is going to be in jail the rest of his life. Over what?' Raper's next court appearance is scheduled for August 19, while Kendall and Belviso are set to appear in Florence County Circuit Court on September 17. It is unclear whether Raper, Kendall, and the other teens have retained attorneys who can speak on their behalf.

Michael McRobie, 34, subjected two teenagers to repeated assaults and sex crimes and even struck one underage girl with a whip. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 High Court in Edinburgh A judge at the High Court in Edinburgh told the beast, from Kirkcaldy, Fife, that his offences were 'appalling.' McRobie had denied a series of charges at an earlier trial but was convicted of 12 offences - including six of rape. All the crimes were committed in Fife. Judge Michael O'Grady KC said: "They amply demonstrate that you have a sinister, compulsive and deeply dangerous interest in children and adolescent girls. "It is clear that when you behaved as you did, you were neither stupid nor unthinking nor caught up in the moment. "It is clear that you are and were intelligent and articulate. "It is clear that you knew precisely what you were doing. "Indeed what you were doing was the product of cunning and manipulation and forethought. "One of these girls was a child and the other little more. Hilarious moment Zelensky gets revenge on reporter who criticised him for not wearing suit to first Oval Office meeting "Both in their own way were vulnerable, something you knew only too well and exploited to the full. "You are nothing more or less than a predator. "The damage you have done to these young women is incalculable and I have no doubt its shadow will hang over them for the foreseeable future, perhaps forever." Mr O'Grady ordered that he should be under supervision in the community for a four year period after his 10 year prison term when he can be returned to jail if he breaches licence conditions. He began assaulting and abusing his first victim in March 2016 when she was aged 16. During attacks on her over several months he subjected her to rape, restrained her and throttled her. McRobie subjected a second girl to more prolonged abuse which also started in March 2016 when she was aged 13. She was raped repeatedly and during abuse was hit on the body with his hands and a whip. He also sent the underage girl indecent pictures and got her to send him intimate images. McRobie also possessed indecent images of children and extreme pornographiy of bestiality with females taking part in sexual activity with animals. Defence solicitor advocate Gordon Martin said McRobie had "a very difficult background", was bullied at school and made the first attempt on his life at the age of 12. He told the court: "He is well aware he is going to be indefinitely on the sex offenders' register." The judge made non harassment orders prohibiting McRobie from contacting or attempting to contact victims.
