Plenty of sunshine and heat wraps up the work week in North Texas as "feels-like" temperatures reach triple digits

CBS News18-07-2025
Another sunny July day is on the way to end the work week.
Temperatures across Dallas-Fort Worth this morning are in the mid-to-upper 70s, with a few clouds in the area.
Plentiful sunshine is ahead for Friday with highs in the upper 90s, and "feels-like" temperatures around 100-102 degrees.
Drier air this afternoon will keep humidity in check, but it will still feel like the triple digits.
The tropical low that moved into Louisiana may bring a few more clouds to the area today and tomorrow but DFW will stay dry.
An isolated shower in southeastern counties is possible this afternoon and again Saturday afternoon.
Get ready for the heat. A dry, hot stretch is on the way with temperatures in the upper 90s.
North Texans could see this year's first 100-degree day next week.

Emergency services on high alert as thunderstorm warning issued in three provinces

Emergency services are on high alert after the SA Weather Service (SAWS) warned of severe thunderstorms in central and northern Gauteng, parts of Limpopo, and most of the Mpumalanga Highveld. The weather service said the conditions could cause travelling disruptions, flooding, large amounts of small hail and wind damage. 'Maximum temperatures are also expected to be low due to the cut-off low-pressure system's core moving over Gauteng. The severe thunderstorms are expected to persist … until about 21:59 on Thursday, with a 60% chance of rain occurring in Tshwane,' City of Tshwane emergency services department spokesperson Lindsay Zwelithini Mnguni said. Residents have been advised to be alert and take precautions. 'The City of Tshwane emergency services department will continue to monitor the weather reports and remain on high alert throughout the city for any related emergencies to protect life and property,' Mnguni added. City of Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi said it was extremely cold in most parts of the city on Wednesday night. He said the department would remain alert to deal with any incidents. 'Residents are urged to exercise caution when using heating devices, paraffin stoves and candles, and not to leave them unattended while in use,' he added.

Warmer, brighter Thursday in Philadelphia area; nice summer weekend ahead. See the weather forecast.

Thursday is shaping up to be brighter in the Philadelphia area as high pressure slides in from the northwest. With more sunshine breaking through, temperatures will begin a warming trend that carries us toward the upper 80s by the weekend. It's a return to more classic early August weather, but without the oppressive humidity — at least for now. Rain chances will be limited, with only a stray shower, mostly south of the city. Otherwise, we're in for a fairly quiet and dry stretch to kick off end of the first week of August. This weekend looks sunny and warm, with highs in the mid- to upper-80s. With no major storm systems in the forecast, it's a good time to enjoy the milder air while it lasts. All in all, it's a refreshing midweek break from the July heat, and a calm, gradual warm-up into the weekend. Thursday: Partly cloudy. High 83, Low 67. Friday: Mostly sunny. High 83, Low 64. Saturday: Sunny. High 86, Low 62. Sunday: Sunny. High 89, Low 63. Monday: Mostly sunny. High 91, Low 67. Tuesday: Sunny, hot. High 93, Low 70. Wednesday: Stray shower. High 91, Low 75.
