The Real Reason Taylor Swift Skipped the AMAs After Travis Kelce Fueled Engagement Rumors

Yahoo5 days ago

One big absence shook audiences to their core at the 2025 American Music Awards. Taylor Swift did not show up to the fan-voted awards show after fans were theorizing that she would make a huge announcement about her future releases.
Taylor Swift was nominated for six awards at the 2025 AMAs for her album The Tortured Poets Department. Swifties anticipated the singer's long-awaited return and theorized that she would announce Reputation (Taylor's Version). Her team even teased something huge for the awards show when they rallied fans to vote for her album and songs at the award show. (More on that later!)

Gigi Hadid's Sister Just Gave a Rare Insight into Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce's Sex Life: 'She Deserves It'The AMAs are a special place for Taylor Swift and Swifties alike. She currently holds the record for the most AMAs wins with a whopping total of 40, and was named the Artist of the Decade in 2019. But, what was the real reason she wasn't at the awards show?
Perhaps Taylor Swift is still laying low after an exhausting year during the Eras tour. Reports emerged over the past couple of months that she and her boyfriend Travis Kelce were taking a break after he lost the Super Bowl.
'They have been traveling nonstop and very much enjoy it,' a source told People in April. 'They are making the most of their time off together. They are hanging out with friends, too. It's a special time for them.'
Just days before the awards show, Travis and Taylor were spotted in a restaurant in Florida by TMZ. The Kansas City Chiefs' tight end is staying at a $20M mansion to train in the southern state for the NFL offseason.
There are also very big rumors that the couple will take the next step in their relationship soon. A source told the Daily Mail that an engagement is definitely on the way. 'Everyone is just waiting for Travis to ask her parents for her hand in marriage, her parents will say yes, and they can't wait for them to get engaged,' a source told the site. 'Nothing seems to be imminent, but it will 100 percent happen. Taylor and Travis are treating this relationship as their last relationship, and when they get engaged, when they get married and when they start a family, it will be exactly when it is meant to happen.'
Taylor's team teased fans earlier in the month about the American Music Awards. Taylor Nation reshared a fan's post on X about voting for the artist and wrote, 'And our town, it looks so sMall from wAy up here.' Taylor's team added 'Screamed, 'vote for the chairman' at the night sky!' It might be a coincidence, but it reflected the spelling of her song 'thanK you aIMee' and the capitalized letters of the tweets spell out 'AMAs.'
Swifties also pointed out that Taylor's online merch site changed from its previous format to a four-block of purchasing options, 'Apparel' 'Music' 'Accessories' and 'Sale.' What does that spell? You guessed it. 'AMAs.'
However, Taylor didn't win any of her nominations at the American Music Awards. She was nominated for Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Collaboration of the Year (with Post Malone), Favorite Pop Album, Favorite Female Pop Artist, and Favorite Touring Artist. So, it makes sense for her to skip out on the awards show to rest with her beau.
Reputation (Taylor's Version) is Taylor's second-to-last album before she completes her re-recordings of her discography. Will we ever see the announcement in the near future? We surely hope so!

Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Kansas City Royals' Huge Announcement

Patrick Mahomes Reacts to Kansas City Royals' Huge Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has always been an avid sports fan beyond the football field. Advertisement While he's been spotted supporting teams from his home state of Texas—like the Dallas Mavericks and his alma mater, Texas Tech—he's also been a vocal supporter of the Kansas City Royals. On Sunday night, Mahomes reacted to a major announcement from the Royals with excitement. The Royals, fresh off a 2024 playoff appearance, are currently 31-29 and sitting in fourth place in the AL Central. With the season in full swing, the team is set to receive a much-needed boost. According to ESPN's Jeff Passan, the Royals have officially announced the call-up of slugger Jac Caglianone—the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft and the No. 10 prospect on MLB Pipeline. Caglianone has been tearing through the minor leagues, making a quick and impressive rise through the Royals' farm system. In just 50 games between Double-A and Triple-A, Caglianone is slashing .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs—an explosive start to his professional career. Advertisement The announcement sparked an instant reaction from Mahomes, who shared his excitement on social media by retweeting the news with a popular GIF from The Office that says, 'Oh my God! Okay, it's happening.' Check it out: Mahomes has always had baseball in his blood. His father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was a Major League pitcher whose career spanned from 1992 to 2003. He played for several teams, including the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also spent time playing professionally in Japan. While he was primarily used at first base, he also showed effectiveness on the mound for the Gators. Advertisement Although it doesn't appear the Royals plan to use him as a two-way player—at least not right away—Caglianone brings a much-needed spark to the lineup. He now joins a promising group that includes young superstar Bobby Witt Jr., slugger Vinnie Pasquantino, and veteran catcher Salvador Perez. Monyetta Shaw-Carter's Birthday Hits Different – She's Celebrating Life & Love After A Stage 1 Breast Cancer Battle

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty Today (May 31) isn't just another birthday for Monyetta Shaw-Carter — it's a full-on rebirth. After battling stage 1 breast cancer, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star's special day hits different. She is turning 45 and celebrating with purpose, power, and a whole lot of pink. 'I caught the cancer early, and because of that, I will be here for my kids,' she told People . 'There's nothing more important than getting checked often and early to protect your future. Our health is irreplaceable.' Her diagnosis came after she felt an unusual sensation in her left breast last September. She didn't find a lump but told People she had a strange feeling that something was off. She listened. And that instinct saved her life. 'It was literally like my body was alerting me that something was wrong,' Monyetta said. 'It's so important for me to share this story because I hope to inspire others not to dismiss their gut feeling. Our body speaks to us, and when it does, we have to listen. It can be a matter of life or death.' One month after that self-check, a mammogram confirmed she had stage 1 invasive ductal carcinoma. She underwent a lumpectomy in January and completed 16 rounds of radiation by May 2. Now, weeks later, she's bringing her loved ones together for a joyful, pink-powered birthday bash. Her party honors life, resilience, and sisterhood. Monyetta credits her husband, Heath Carter, for being her rock through it all. She also had the support of her ex-fiancé, singer NE-YO, with whom she shares two children. 'NE-YO was just showing up for me in a major way and just always asking and making sure everything was okay,' she recalled in a recent interview. 'He was like, 'Oh, you're gonna beat this.'' Her RHOA circle also showed up with love. Kandi Burruss, Cynthia Bailey, Porsha Williams, Shamea Morton, and Shereé Whitfield all supported. For Monyetta Shaw-Carter, breast cancer is real but not unbeatable. So why not celebrate? As the founder of Keep It Classy Nails , a mother of four, and a businesswoman, she wants Black women everywhere to trust their instincts, take care of themselves, and live on their own terms. 'I'm stepping into this new chapter with deeper gratitude, unstoppable faith, and a whole new glow,' she wrote on Instagram. 'This birthday is more than candles and cake…it's a celebration of life, a reflection of pain & purpose, of healing, and God's grace. I've faced one of the biggest battles of my life… and I WON!!!'
