Katherine Legge expands NASCAR schedule, adding Xfinity, Cup races
Legge's schedule through mid-August was announced Tuesday morning. The 44-year-old from Guilford, England, whose diverse career in motorsports includes IndyCars, IMSA and Formula E, is focused on NASCAR. She became the first woman to compete in a Cup race earlier this season since 2018.
Legge will run seven Xfinity races with Jordan Anderson Racing Bommarito Autosport, beginning with Saturday's race at Rockingham Speedway. Legge will compete in five Cup races with Live Fast Motorsports. Her sponsors will be e.l.f. Cosmetics, DROPLight, Sherfick Companies and Desnuda Tequila.
Four of her five Cup races — Mexico City, Chicago Street Race, Sonoma and Watkins Glen — will be on either a road or street course, which fits her background in racing. Her other Cup start is scheduled to be Aug. 17 at Richmond.
Richmond will be her first Cup start on an oval since she made her series debut at Phoenix in March. She spun twice in the race. The second spin collected Daniel Suarez, leading to online criticism and also sparking a debate about NASCAR's approval process for drivers.
Dustin Long,
Legge said she is aware of the comments but is focused on moving forward to fulfill her goal of racing regularly in NASCAR.
'I licked my wounds for sure,' Legge told NBC Sports, 'but I haven't been around in motorsports for 20 years professionally by giving up on anything.
'I know (Phoenix) wasn't my best work. I made a mistake, right? I made a lot of mistakes during the race, tried to minimize them. … And then there was that one mistake that obviously ended Daniel's race and cost me my reputation, which I intend to get back. But it was a mistake.
'You see these guys making mistakes even when they've been doing it for decades. So to be vilified on one mistake, I feel like was really unfair. I am a damn good race car driver, and I will come back and prove that was just a blip on the radar.'
Legge's previous NASCAR experience before this year was four Xfinity starts in 2018 and one Xfinity start in 2023.
This schedule into August gives her a steady diet of stock car experience.
'It's invaluable, actually, to get some kind of continuity and experience going in order to kind of showcase what I am capable of,' Legge told NBC Sports.
She will drive a mix of tracks also. After Rockingham, she will do the next four Xfinity races, competing at Talladega, Texas, Charlotte and Nashville. Then she moves over to the Cup Series for the inaugural series race at Mexico City on June 15.
'I am very much looking forward to it,' Legge said of the event at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. 'We tried to get things together in time for COTA, but we didn't unfortunately. There's a different level of comfort that comes with turning left and right.
'I'm also excited to do the ovals. I almost want to get to Richmond as much as I want to get to Mexico just because I want that monkey off my back, and I want to prove to myself that it was just a minor blip and we're good to go.'
But her schedule might not end after the Richmond race. The rest of the season was purposely not included in case there is a particular style of track NASCAR wants her to run to gain more experience.
'This is what we need in order to get NASCAR permission to be able to run anywhere I want whenever I want, which is ultimately the goal,' Legge said.
That could lead to a possible Daytona 500 run and maybe even a return to the Indianapolis 500 next year, making her among the few to race in the signature events for NASCAR and IndyCar in the same season.
'I want to do everything that I can to A, experience all the things and B, to be the best driver that I can be and leave a legacy,' she said, 'and open the door for the next generation.'

'Mad decisions' - Schumacher keen to address Wednesday issues before Barnsley
STEVEN Schumacher won't be letting Wanderers' cup exit against Sheffield Wednesday pass without comment. While all eyes turn to Saturday's game at Barnsley with three points at stake, the Bolton boss will review some of the poor decisions which contributed to a disappointing night, and an opportunity missed to host Premier League Leeds United in the next round. Even after going down to 10 men, Wanderers pulled themselves on three separate occasions – and though Schumacher applauded the spirit shown to do so, he did question some of the game management to keep the scorelines level. 'We were stretched at times, we made some mad decisions,' he told The Bolton News. 'We didn't let the game settle down once we equalised, twice, and then conceded pretty quickly. 'When it is so early into the season and people are still getting up to speed, that decision-making can sometimes be a little bit off, and it was, but it's not the end of the world. 'It is something that we can learn from and deal with pretty simply, and as everyone's seen so far this season, we've been really well organised, so it's no big drama if there's a couple of mistakes here and there. 'Every game is important and we didn't want to be out of the cup – we won't brush it under the carpet just because it isn't a league game. 'We will go back, talk about it, and see what we could have done better.' Much was made of the youthfulness of the Wednesday line-up – and though keeper Pierce Charles and captain Ike Ugbo had a reasonable amount of first team experience, there were several players used by Henrik Pedersen on the night who had never started a game for the Owls. Schumacher had warned his players about the potential for a difficult night but felt his players were suitably prepared, and not 'caught cold'. 'Not really,' he said. 'We showed the lads that these are young players who've got loads of energy, and in the pre-season games that we managed to watch, some of their rotation and their movement is really good. 'A lot of the younger players have played in the friendlies because the seniors have been not available, so we knew it was going to be difficult to figure out, and if you're not exactly spot on when you press, especially with their goalkeeper, they can pick you off. 'I just felt the game was a bit scrappy for 10 minutes, which can happen, but they capitalised on a moment when we made a mistake and the lad whacked it in from 30-odd yards into the top corner, so then we are on the back foot, but we responded well.' Sam Inwood was handed a straight red card by referee Oliver Langford for a professional foul on Charlie McNeil, and Schumacher admitted the young defender was upset after the game. 'He is gutted,' said the Whites boss. 'But it's one of them, there's not too much he could have done about it, I don't think. 'Maybe just drop a little bit quicker, so he doesn't allow the pass to go in behind him, but that is something he'll learn from. 'I'll watch it back, probably and go through it with him. He is gutted to have been out and left us short, but again, it's part of the game.'

'Random Stat' - Dale Jr. Shows Off Cool NASCAR Knowledge
'Random Stat' - Dale Jr. Shows Off Cool NASCAR Knowledge originally appeared on The Spun. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has been around NASCAR since birth. The son of legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. chose the sport as his career. He was a standout NASCAR driver for two decades. Dale Jr. has remained close to the sport, serving as an owner of an Xfinity Series team, while also working in broadcasting for Cup Series races. Clearly, Dale Jr. knows a lot about the sport. On Wednesday night, August 13, the legendary NASCAR Cup Series driver showed off his knowledge with some fun facts for the fan base. It's impressive to see how much he knows. Dale Jr. took to social media with some "fun facts" for the NASCAR fan base. "Random stat: the 1969 Firecracker 400 at Daytona (160 laps) had only 2 cautions. Both totaling 27 laps! 😳Caution one, a single car crash was 14 laps long. 😳 While caution 2 involving 5 cars was 13 laps long. Also, I like looking at these old race programs at the ads for local businesses and checking google maps for what that address looks like today. 🧐🧐🧐🧐," he wrote. He added: "A grandstand ticket to the 1971 Daytona 500 would cost you anywhere from $6 to $30. Infield pass $5." There's a lot to love about Dale Earnhardt Jr., but his commitment to interacting with fans on social media is up there among the top reasons. The iconic NASCAR Cup Series driver doesn't have to be as active as he is on social media, but he clearly enjoys interacting with many of the sport's top followers. It's fun to see. 'Random Stat' - Dale Jr. Shows Off Cool NASCAR Knowledge first appeared on The Spun on Aug 14, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 14, 2025, where it first appeared.

NASCAR makes decision on policing Victory Lane celebrations
NASCAR makes decision on policing Victory Lane celebrations originally appeared on The Sporting News To clear up a bit of confusion in the aftermath of Connor Zilisch falling and breaking his collarbone during his NASCAR Xfinity Series victory lane celebration on Saturday at Watkins Glen, no the Sanctioning Body is not going to police victory lane moving forward. Zilisch said he had heard that NASCAR would prevent drivers from standing on top of the cars the way he had before slipping and falling on his window net. Read more:What next for Zilisch after his fall? NASCAR's managing director of communications, Mike Forde, said that is not happening on the latest episode of his Hauler Talkpodcast. "We haven't said that we were going to tell drivers who have won not to step out onto their window, and stand there and take photos and all that," explained Forde. "Right now, there are no best practices. We aren't legislating it. We haven't said that drivers aren't allowed to do this or anything else. However, I think we did notice the window net ... we do have NASCAR employees in Victory Lane, and just make the window net is inside of the car. 'I think that was part of the problem -- the window net was flapping on the outside. I think Connor even said that may have been a problem, and one of our safety guys actually mentioned the same thing. He noticed that as being one of the issues. So, nothing as far as a policy goes. Make sure the window and check, (because) if that's inside the car, it's one less thing you can slip on." So in other words, NASCAR just wants to keep drivers safe as possible so this doesn't happen again but without micromanaging things.
