Earlier, Sonu Nigam had lashed out at a person from Bengaluru, who asked him to sing Kannada songs as well during his stage performance in the Silicon Valley of India.
Playback singer Sonu Nigam is lashed out at the media after a publication falsely quoted him over the language row. The singer took to his Instagram on Thursday, and shared screenshots, which show his imposter account on social media engaging with Tejasvi Surya, Member of the Lok Sabha from Bengaluru.
In the screenshot, the imposter account of the singer on X, formerly Twitter, can be seen engaging in a spat with Tejasvi's opinion.
Tejasvi Surya had written, 'This behaviour by @TheOfficialSBI Branch Manager is simply not acceptable. If you are doing customer interface work in Karnataka, especially in a sector like banking , it is important to communicate to customers in the language they know. Being adamant like this is simply not right. I have time and again raised this issue of mandatorily posting local staff or staff who know the local language in banking operations, both inside and outside Parliament".
He added, 'Just a few weeks ago, at a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I had raised this issue to the DFS Secretary who assured me action will be taken to follow a office notification that makes this requirement of local language knowledge compulsory. Looks like this still isn't being enforced properly. I urge the concerned at @TheOfficialSBI to immediately implement the DFS policy that mandates local language requirement. I have spoken to concerned authorities to take action against this manager who has behaved in this manner. Banks working in Karnataka should serve customers in Kannada. Period".
Sonu's imposter account wrote in response, 'Don't dub Kannada movies in Hindi! Don't release Kannada movies pan-India! Do you have the guts to say this to Kannada film stars, Mr. @Tejasvi_Surya , or you are just another language warrior?".

The media house quoted the imposter's tweet, which were slammed by Sonu, as he accused the media house of wrongly attributing the tweet to him when he has clarified numerous times in the past that he is not on X.
Slamming the media house, the singer wrote, 'Are you Out of your mind? How many times have I declared I am not on Twitter? Spreading misinformation on my name is only going to poison the minds of people who have loved me so much all these years. Not everyone will have the sense to fact check your news. I'm truly done with this country's desperate and brutal Media. Shame".
Earlier, Sonu had lashed out at a person from Bengaluru, who asked him to sing Kannada songs as well during his stage performance in the Silicon Valley of India.
Following the incident, the singer had issued a clarification in the light of allegations against him for making provocative statements, and hurting the sentiments of Kannadigas.
This came after an FIR was filed against the singer at the Avalahalli Police Station in Bengaluru. The complaint alleged that the singer had made an objectionable statement, saying, 'Kannada, Kannada, Kannada, this is exactly why the incident happened in Pahalgam", as he referenced the recent terrorist attack that occurred in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists were killed.
Sonu, on his part, took to his Instagram, and issued a clarification as he said that there were only 3-4 fringe elements in the crowd, and other people in the audience were very respectful. He said that such people need to be dealt with strongly.

Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 Beats Sky Force at the Box Office
In an interesting box office moment, Akshay Kumar's new film Housefull 5 has beaten another one of his own movies, Sky Force, to become the third highest-earning Hindi film of 2025 so far. Housefull 5, the latest part of the popular comedy series, has earned ₹119.75 crore in just six days since its release. This total has now passed the ₹112.75 crore made by Sky Force, which had finished its full run. Earlier this year, Sky Force, a patriotic action film, had a decent start and stayed in cinemas for about four weeks. In its first week, it earned ₹86.5 crore, but its numbers started dropping after that. By the end of four weeks, it had made ₹112.75 crore in total. In contrast, Housefull 5 opened with great energy. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film made ₹24 crore on its first day (Friday). Over the weekend, the numbers grew, reaching ₹32.5 crore on Sunday. As expected, collections fell a bit after the weekend. On Monday, it made ₹13 crore, followed by ₹11.25 crore on Tuesday, and around ₹8 crore on Wednesday, based on early estimates from Sacnilk. This brought the total to ₹119.75 crore in six days. With this, Housefull 5 is now only behind two other films this year — Raid 2 starring Ajay Devgn, which has earned ₹171 crore, and Chhaava featuring Vicky Kaushal, which leads the chart with ₹585.7 crore. This achievement is even more special because Akshay Kumar has now delivered three hits in a tough year for Bollywood. While many big films have failed, Akshay has succeeded in both patriotic drama and comedy. Experts say Housefull 5 could still have a strong second weekend. If the current pace continues, the film might cross the ₹150 crore mark. However, catching up to Raid 2 will be difficult. For now, the Housefull 5 team is celebrating, and so is Akshay Kumar — once again proving that when it comes to the box office, his only competition might be himself. The film stars a large cast, including Riteish Deshmukh, Abhishek A. Bachchan, Fardeen Khan, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Chunky Pandey, Dino Morea, and Johnny Lever.

Case registered against influencer Kalpika Ganesh following alleged misconduct at Hyderabad restaurant
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 12 (ANI): Social media influencer and actress Kalpika Ganesh has been booked by the Gachibowli police in connection with an alleged altercation at a prominent Hyderabad restaurant, Odeum by Prism. The incident, which took place on May 29, came to public attention after videos capturing the episode went viral on social media platforms. As per the First Information Report (FIR), a formal complaint was submitted by Deepak Bajaj (38), Managing Partner of Prism Club & Kitchen, on June 6, 2025, outlining a series of disruptive actions allegedly committed by Ganesh during her visit to the venue. According to the complaint, Ganesh, accompanied by a male guest, dined at the restaurant and consumed ₹ 2,200 worth of food and beverages. At the time of billing, around 11:30 pm, she allegedly demanded that the dessert, a cheesecake, be offered complimentary. Though the management extended a gesture of goodwill by offering a brownie instead, the complainant alleged that Ganesh refused to settle the bill, became aggressive, and verbally abused the Deputy General Manager and General Manager, including derogatory and body-shaming remarks. The situation reportedly escalated when Ganesh threw the brownie plate, causing disturbances on the premises. The FIR further states that she went live on Instagram, declaring she was doing it for her followers, and subsequently made false accusations of rape and molestation on social media. Kalpika Ganesh has also shared a video of the incident on her Instagram handle. The complaint also noted that even in the presence of police officers, Ganesh allegedly continued her disruptive behaviour, refused to cooperate, and verbally abused the personnel. Management claimed that the episode led to reputational harm to both the establishment and its staff, as well as property damage, verbal and physical abuse, false public narratives, and personal defamation involving staff families. Supporting evidence cited includes CCTV footage, videos recorded by staff and guests, and witness testimonies. While the management initially delayed complaining to avoid escalation, the persistent nature of the alleged online provocations prompted legal action. The matter was entered into the General Diary on June 6, and a request was made before the Honourable Court for permission to register a case formally. Upon receiving approval, a case was registered on June 10, 2025, under sections 324(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation has been assigned to WSI Akshitha, under the supervision of Inspector Anil Kumar, Gachibowli Police Station. (ANI)
