Sydney Sweeney set to launch lingerie brand with support from Jeff Bezos-backed fund

Express Tribune11-07-2025
Sydney Sweeney is officially stepping into the business world with the launch of her own lingerie brand, supported by a firm backed by Jeff Bezos.
The Euphoria actress surprised many with her presence at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding, but recent reports reveal her business ties to Bezos-linked investment through Coatue.
Sweeney's brand is funded by Coatue, a private equity firm that recently received a $1 billion injection from Jeff Bezos and Michael Dell via their Coatue Innovation Fund. The investment connection is indirect but substantial, positioning Sweeney among a new wave of celebrities entering fashion with major financial backing.
Her brand is being championed by Ben Schwerin, a former Snap executive and current partner at Coatue, known for leveraging celebrity relationships in business. Coatue typically avoids consumer investments, so their support signals confidence in the brand's potential.
Recent social media posts by Sweeney, featuring model Amélie Tremblay in coordinated lingerie and swimwear, were likely early teasers for the brand's marketing rollout.
While full product details remain under wraps, the campaign has already stirred interest in the fashion space.
Industry analysts note the lingerie market is primed for disruption, but remain cautious until Sweeney reveals the brand's direction and product focus. Her celebrity status and strategic partnerships may offer a competitive edge, but market execution will be key.

MGK dodges question about Sydney Sweeney romance after Vegas outing

Machine Gun Kelly has addressed, or perhaps avoided addressing, swirling rumors about his connection with Sydney Sweeney. The speculation began after the pair were spotted together at the grand opening of Las Vegas' Palm Tree Beach Club in May, fueling talk of a potential romance. Appearing on Watch What Happens Live, the rapper and actor was confronted with a fan question about whether his relationship with the Euphoria star went beyond friendship. Host Andy Cohen read the query aloud, only for MGK to respond with a quick 'Kyle P., shut up dude,' prompting laughter from Cohen and the audience. His five-word reply, however, left the internet debating whether it was an artful dodge or a playful confirmation. Social media reactions were swift. Clips of the exchange posted on the show's accounts drew comments noting that MGK never explicitly denied the rumors. Some fans even interpreted his tone as suggestive, reigniting speculation about what really happened between the two. MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, shares a young daughter with Megan Fox and also has a teenage daughter from a previous relationship. Sydney, meanwhile, is coming off a high-profile breakup with her fiancé Jonathan Davino in March after seven years together. She has kept quiet on the MGK chatter but was seen in July enjoying a jet ski outing in Idaho with another unidentified man, further complicating the public's guessing game about her love life. The pair's history dates back years. They both appeared in the 2019 film Big Time Adolescence, and Sydney starred in MGK's 2021 music film Downfalls High. Their long-standing acquaintance gives fans plenty of fodder to believe the Vegas reunion was not entirely by chance. Whether their connection is strictly platonic or something more, MGK's evasive quip has only intensified the spotlight on them.

Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film set for 2026 release with new story in Raccoon City

A new Resident Evil film is on the way from Barbarian and Weapons director Zach Cregger, bringing a fresh storyline to Capcom's long-running video game franchise. Scheduled for release on September 18 2026, the project will serve as a reboot while remaining faithful to the original games' lore. The Resident Evil series began in 1996 and became one of the most successful video game franchises in history. Its survival horror gameplay inspired multiple big-screen adaptations, most notably the Milla Jovovich-led films. Cregger's version will introduce an original plot set within Raccoon City, incorporating key elements from the games such as the Umbrella Corporation and the Raccoon City Police Department (RCPD). According to a leaked synopsis reported by Daniel RPK, the story centres on Bryan, a laid-back organ courier played by Austin Abrams. While travelling on a snowy mountain road to deliver an organ to Raccoon City General Hospital, Bryan hits a mysterious woman with his car. She survives, but events quickly escalate into a city-wide outbreak involving tentacle-based mutations and bio-engineered creatures. Abrams, known for roles in The Walking Dead, This is Us, Euphoria, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, previously worked with Cregger on Weapons. Speaking to Inverse, Cregger assured fans that the film will respect the established canon. 'This is not breaking the rules of the games. I am the biggest worshiper of the games, so I'm telling a story that is a love letter to the games and follows the rules of the games. It is obedient to the lore… it's just a different story.' The film was announced in January 2025, with Sony acquiring the rights in March after a competitive bidding process. Filming is expected to take place primarily in the Czech Republic.

Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade split after on-off relationship since 2021

Jacob Elordi and Olivia Jade Giannulli have ended their relationship after dating on and off since 2021, PEOPLE has learned. A source confirmed the split between the 28-year-old Euphoria actor and the 25-year-old influencer, though representatives for both have not yet commented. The two were first linked in late 2021 when they were spotted having coffee in Los Angeles, shortly after Elordi's split from model Kaia Gerber. While early reports conflicted over whether they were seriously dating, the couple's relationship timeline included a breakup in August 2022, a reconciliation, and a trip to Italy in June 2023. They were also seen spending time with Giannulli's parents, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, in Idaho in July that year. Their romance appeared to continue into 2024, with sources noting they were still together in January. However, Giannulli has recently shifted her focus to a new chapter abroad. In a recent YouTube vlog, she shared her excitement about moving to Paris, describing it as a potentially 'formative' experience. Elordi, meanwhile, has been busy with acting projects and was recently seen reuniting with his ex Kaia Gerber at Cara Delevingne's birthday party in Los Angeles on August 5.
