Ex-AIADMK Ministers' participation in Lord Murugan conference shameful: Regupathy
The participation of some of the former AIADMK Ministers in the 'Muruga Bhakthargal' conference organised by the Hindu Munnani in Madurai on Sunday was 'shameful,' Minister for Natural Resources S. Regupathy said in Pudukottai on Monday.
By remaining silent during the audio- visual presentation depicting Dravidian stalwarts such as Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi in poor light, they had become 'unfit' to be called the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, he told journalists.
The conference was held with a call to defeat 'Dravidam' in Tamil Nadu. However, the AIADMK had 'Dravidam' in its very name and its general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami had conveniently forgotten that. The AIADMK had proved that it had become 'bonded labourers' of the BJP, Mr. Regupathy alleged.
Stating that the BJP would be driven out of the State, Mr. Regupathy said the DMK government would not give any room for religious bigotry in Tamil Nadu.
Asked whether the heavy turnout of people at the conference will have any political impact on the 2026 Assembly elections, Mr. Regupathy said there was no connection between the two.

Illegal B'deshis damads: Giriraj; BJP spreading lies, says JMM
Jamshedpur: Union textile minister accused the state govt of giving special treatment to illegal migrants from Bangladesh. The immigrants are being treated as special guests and enjoying the privilege of damad (son-in-law), he claimed. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "Instead of taking steps to check the illegal migration of Bangladeshis, the govt is welcoming them with open arms and treating them as damads," said Singh. The minister, who was on a visit to the city on Monday to attend a college function, said that Hemant Soren wants to make Jharkhand a model of present-day West Bengal. "He (Hemant) is following Mamata Banerjee and will turn Jharkhand into (a second) Bengal, while Mamata is on the way to make Bengal a second Bangladesh," said the BJP leader. Claiming that 13 districts in the state are witnessing an increasing change in the demography due to the growing population of illegal Bangladeshis, the minister said that former CM was compelled to quit JMM on discovering the stark reality about the demographic changes in the state. "Champai Soren joined BJP to prevent Jharkhand from becoming Bengal," Giriraj said. Jamai tolas are rapidly increasing in the state with the patronage of the tribal CM. The indigenous community population will not exist if unauthorised migration continues in the state, the minister further said. The MP from Begusarai in Bihar said that the NDA will form the govt in his home state under the leadership of Nitish Kumar in the upcoming assembly elections. Hitting back, JMM MLA Samir Mohanty said, "BJP leaders are experts in spreading canard. Bangladeshi illegal immigrants' infiltration into the state is an unfounded allegation. The minister should rather question Union home minister Amit Shah on how people from Bangladesh are infiltrating into India despite security on the international border being so tight."

HC rejects H Raja's petition, asks him to appear before cops
Chennai: has dismissed a plea moved by BJP leader H Raja, challenging the summons demanding his appearance in connection with the Thiruparankundram Durgah row. Noting that it is not open to the party to challenge such notices, Justice P Velmurugan directed Raja to appear before the police and cooperate with investigation. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The issue pertains to an FIR registered by Subramaniapuram police in Madurai against Raja for making a provocative speech during a protest organised by Hindu Munnani and other Hindu outfits in connection with the Thiruparankundram hill issue. The protest, held at Palanganatham on Feb 4, was organised with permission from the HC after authorities imposed Section 144 across Madurai to prevent unrest. Addressing the protestors, Raja reportedly declared that Thiruparankundram should become the next Ayodhya. He further stated, "the first war, like Ayodhya, has already begun at Thiruparankundram, which is Lord Murugan's first army camp." Since his speech violated the conditions imposed by HC, the Subramaniapuram police booked Raja under three different sections. When police issued a notice summoning Raja for inquiry, he filed a petition in the high court to quash the notice. When the plea came up for hearing on Monday, Justice Velmurugan observed that such notices issued by police cannot be challenged and directed Raja to appear before the police concerned.

Cong tribal leaders meet Rahul in Delhi
1 2 Ranchi: Cong leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday met with tribal leaders of several states, including Jharkhand, in Delhi to take stock of the issues and concerns of the adivasi population. From Jharkhand, over a dozen tribal workers of the party, including Lohardaga MP Sukhdeo Bhagat, state agriculture minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey, attended the meeting. The party's spokesperson Satish Paul Munjini said that the meeting was aimed at preparing action plans to work for the welfare of adivasi communities. About Jharkhand, he said that the representatives detailed about the ongoing works of the alliance govt and existing issues. "The biggest demand for tribals is the implementation of Sarna Code ahead of the nationwide caste and population census. It was also discussed how previous BJP govt had conspired to evict the tribals from their lands in the guise of land banks and digitization. We will soon launch a campaign to address these issues," he said, adding that Rahul Gandhi has assured his full support to take up the concerns at the national level to force union govt to act accordingly.
