Axed Scots Gogglebox couple release heartfelt statement as fans left gutted over exit
Gogglebox fan favourite couple Roisin Kelly and Joe Kyle have released a heartfelt statement after they were brutally dumped from the Channel 4 show. The beloved duo, who hail from Glasgow, shocked social media on Monday evening when they announced they had been axed from the programme after three and a half years despite being one of the most popular couples among Gogglebox fans.
Roisin, who celebrated her 27th birthday earlier this week, took to her social media accounts on Instagram and TikTok to announce the sad news that she and Joe, 28, had not made the cut for season 26. The pair have released an emotional joint statement following their departure.
It reads: "After three and a half years of sitting on the sofa, Channel 4 have decided it's time for Joe and I to stretch our legs and have not asked us back for season 26. Therefore we are leaving the Gogglebox family. We couldn't be more grateful to Studio Lambert for the opportunity, the experience has actually been so mad and we will miss watching tv with you all on Friday nights!
"It's been an honour to represent Scotland as some of the first Scottish people on the show and prove we don't actually need subtitles."
She continued: "We have made friends for life and after filming every week for years you have become like our family! We could not have asked for better people to work with and we will miss you immensely.
"A huge thank you to everyone who has watched us, met us and supported us during this experience, it has for sure been a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"Time to watch TV in silence for a bit and put down the popcorn. Miss you already, Roisin and Joe."

Channel 4 have now been advised by viewers that they have made a huge 'mistake' in axing the Scots couple who captured viewers hearts with their hilarious banter during their time on the show.
Underneath Roisin's post on TikTok, one fan fumed: "That's a stupid decision by ch4/gogglebox! Sorry to hear this."
A second chimed in: "Gutted! Their loss though."
A third echoed: "Nooo you were a favourite in our house! Very stupid move from Channel 4."
Roisin and Joe were the only Scottish cast members left on the show and fans have been quick to point out that Scotland is no longer being represented on the programme.
One complained: "Aw man, this is s****. No Scottish voices on the show anymore! You were great."
Another wrote: "Hate this! It was nice to have Scottish people and the West of Scotland sense of humour represented on TV, not worth watching anymore."
A third added: "Oh no way! Typical because they are Scottish."
Fans are hoping it won't be the last they'll see of Roisin and Joe on their screens and their Gogglebox axe means Roisin may now find the time to return to her podcast, Nags and Brags, which she co-hosts with pal and Clyde 1 breakfast show broadcaster, Cassi Gillespie.
Nags and Brags covers a variety of subjects, from dating woes to fashion faux pas, with the show temporarily being put on hiatus while Roisin and Cassie juggled their other work commitments.

Scotland's flagship indie beer festival returns to Glasgow with hundreds of beers to try
The festival returns to Glasgow for the third year in a row next month. Scotland's largest celebration of independently brewed beer is set to return to Glasgow this September. Indie Beer Scotland will bring more than a hundred locally made beers, ciders and spirits to the Clyde Rooms at Edmiston House. Running from Friday 5 to Saturday 6, September, 2025, the event marks its third year in Glasgow following a successful debut in Edinburgh in 2022. Organised by brewers from the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates (SIBA), the not-for-profit group behind the UK-wide Indie Beer campaign, the festival is expected to draw crowds eager to support genuinely independent producers. This year's festival will be split into three sessions across the weekend, with each offering over 100 different cask and keg beers from across Scotland. Alongside the beer, festivalgoers can enjoy cider and spirits from small-scale Scottish producers, all under one roof. One of the organisers, Ian McGrath of Beath Brewing, says Glasgow has become a key location in the UK's growing independent beer movement. 'We big have plans for Indie Beer festivals across the UK in 2026 but it all started right here in Scotland," he said. "We are hugely proud to be the flagship event for the Indie Beer campaign and to be the festival that showcases the largest number of Scottish beers from independent breweries available anywhere. 'No big brands, no faux-craft, just great beer from genuinely independent Scottish brewers.' In addition to championing local producers, Indie Beer Scotland has built a reputation for offering quality drinks at fair prices. Festival organisers have confirmed that all 2024 pricing will be frozen, with a wide range of beers up to 4.5% ABV available for just £4 a pint. 'We are really proud to offer great value for money and to enable everyone to sample the huge range of cask ales, keg beers and lagers available at Indie Beer Scotland, so have once again frozen our prices, with all beers up to 4.5% available for just £4 a pint,' McGrath added. From crisp lagers and light pale ales to robust scotch ales and rich barrel-aged stouts pushing 10% ABV or more, the selection reflects the diversity of Scotland's independent brewing scene. The festival promises something for every taste, with both session-strength beers and complex, high-ABV styles on offer. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Edinburgh Fringe performer claims youths branded him a 'lady boy' during attack
Eddie Jen claims the male youths "beat him on the head", ripped off his bow and poured their drinks on him. An Edinburgh Fringe performer has claimed he was called a 'lady boy' by youths who allegedly attacked him on the Royal Mile. Eddie Jen, who uses he/she pronouns, is performing his show 'Seeking a PenPal For the End of the World' to the festival this year. Before it starts he was out handing out flyers but says he was accosted by a gang of thugs on Tuesday, July 29, reports Edinburgh Live. Eddie claims the male youths "beat him on the head", ripped off his bow and poured their drinks on him. Speaking out since the incident, Eddie said "it all happened so quickly". He added: "I was just so excited and happy to be in Edinburgh and to start with, I got great reactions. The youngsters aren't even a minority and they aren't speaking for everyone. "It all happened so quickly, they just came up to me and started saying 'are you a lady boy?' and 'are you a boy or a girl?' "I remained polite but as I went back to my corner to continue flyering, they hit my head, ripped off my bow and poured their drinks over me. It all happened within two minutes. "I was honestly in shock but I am so glad I was able to film it all and get people talking about this." The performer from San Francisco said she isn't letting the incident dampen her time in Edinburgh. Eddie has met a lot of kind people in the capital - including one man who assisted after the incident. She added: "There was one kind Scottish gentleman who came up to me to see if I was okay. "I really am an optimist and I am able to get the full Fringe experience right now. I mean so far, I have been harassed and done shows with no attendance so it seems I am getting everything bad out the way in the first week. "Last year I came to the Fringe to see if I was up to par and I absolutely loved it - the city is magical, there really is something about it. "I went out flyering again yesterday, I put on the same outfit and I kept going. I am just so excited to be here." Getting over 200,000 views, the clip has since gone viral and many people have offered their support to the performer. The video was captioned: "I was attacked in drag at Edinburgh Fringe 2025. It's my first solo show. "I was so excited to flyer and find an audience and then a group of young men began harassing me. They beat me on the head, ripped off my bow and poured their drinks on me." Almost 1000 comments have come in after the short clip was posted online. One person said: "Why is it always teenagers? Where are their parents? "I'm terrified of teenage boys in Edinburgh, they're just looking for trouble." A second said: "That's so bad a member of the public has to explain this is not how Scotland is and excusing their bad behaviour." "I'm so sorry this happened to you. I live in Edinburgh and unfortunately this type of stuff happens a lot. It's horrible but not all teenagers are like that", a third commented. Eddie's show started yesterday and will run at Just The Tonic at the Caves at 1.05pm until August 24. A description of the show reads: "After Trump 1.0's mob breached the US capitol to destroy democracy on January 6th, 2021, an immigrant drag queen attorney from San Francisco began writing to a retired, White, Republican woman in Bountiful, Utah – his high school English teacher from thirty years ago. "What happens when the political discussions stop and the personal begins? Can you really be friends with your former teacher? An interactive performance, with reading and writing prompts. We tell the story of our lives. For everyone who remembers their English teachers most fondly. You can find out more about Eddie's show here.
