Diablo 4 Season 8 start time and everything new that's coming with the seasonal update
The delayed Season 8 of Diablo 4 is finally upon us, as we say goodbye to the Season of Witchcraft next week.
The new season of Diablo 4 starts next week, and brings a new IP collab with it alongside the usual fare of seasonal content we've come to expect.
Diablo 4 Season 8 starts next week, with Belial's return setting players up for a revamped boss ladder system, a new Berserk collab, new Boss powers to collect for the seasonal mechanic, a new questline, and a new battle pass system among a host of other changes.
Activision Blizzard 's selling point for the new battle pass system – officially called Reliquaries – is that you can claim the rewards in whatever order you like, similar to the overhauled Warzone and CoD battle passes that Activision pivoted to with the release of Warzone 2.0.
Reactions to the impending system tweaks have been mixed, with the Diablo 4 2025 roadmap also being something of a swing and a miss, thanks to a lack of fresh content this year, and most of the major changes landing in 2026. But there's still lots to tuck into when Diablo 4 Season 8 starts, and here's a rundown of what Season 8 has to offer:
A new questline
New NPC: Sayeena a retired Vizjerei mage
New NPC: Jarius, who claims to be a Cathedral of Light knight
24 Boss Powers
New Apparition Incursion event
Three-tier Lair Boss system replacing Ladder Bosses
New Legendary and Unique items
New Reliquariy Battle Pass
Seasonal rewards including Iris the Cat pet
It's mostly the usual fare we see with the dawn of a new season in terms of seasonal mechanics and rewards, with the Lair Bosses and new Reliquary system being the major tweaks. But when exactly does Diablo 4 Season 8 start? Here's what you need to know.
Diablo 4 Season 8 start time
Diablo 4 Season 8 starts at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 6pm BST on Tuesday, April 29 as confirmed by Blizzard in a blog post. This is in line with past season start times and is generally when the developer deploys major updates to the games.
The new season was set to start mid-April initially, but Diablo general manager, Rod Fergusson, confirmed a two-week delay in a tweet back in February, that saw the end of Diablo 4 Season 7 pushed back from Tuesday, April 15 to Tuesday, April 29. The extra time was was attributed to Diablo 4 Season 8 taking "a couple of weeks longer to bake than...initially anticipated".
As with most seasons so far, this one is expected to run for three months, taking us through to the end of July, which is when we'll see Season 9 and the promised keyboard and mouse support roll out for console.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 7 reveals story details but not Nintendo Switch 2 version
The Xbox Games Showcase has unveiled this year's new Call Of Duty game and as rumoured it's a direct sequel to 2012's Black Ops 2. Last year the big showcase reveal for Xbox, that got half an hour all to itself at the end of the main livestream, was Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6. This year It's The Outer Worlds 2 and Grounded 2 that was given the slot, but that didn't mean that this year's Call Of Duty wasn't announced anyway. That implies that from now on each year's new game will probably always get unveiled at the Xbox Games Showcase, although the reveal for Black Ops 7 was mostly just a pre-rendered trailer and for most of the time it wasn't obvious it was Call Of Duty at all. The fact that this year's game is Black Ops 7 was leaked some time ago (as was next year's game) with insiders suggesting that it's a direct sequel to 2012's Black Ops 2. Activision has now confirmed that, with the trailer showing that you're playing as David Mason from that game, with villain Raul Menendez also making a return. Black Ops 2 was set in both the 1980s and 2025 (which was the near future at the time) but Black Ops 7 takes place in 2035, which is 40 years after the events of last year's game. It's not entirely clear what's going on with the plot but apparently you, as David Mason, are fighting 'a manipulative enemy who weaponises fear above all else.' Black Ops 2's plot revolved around deadly cyberattacks, which has only become more relevant as time has gone on. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. There's very little concrete information on the gameplay, with a full reveal promised for later this summer. However, it's confirmed that the story mode will feature campaign co-op and that there'll be a lot of 'near future weaponry' and brand new maps in 'a signature multiplayer experience'. A new round-based version of Zombies will also be included, continuing the Dark Aether storyline – which means little hope of a revamp for the mode this year. More Trending There's no real explanation for why we're getting two Black Ops games in a row, other than it's being developed by Treyarch and Raven Software, who also made Black Ops 6. Usually, Activision's developers take it in turns, so the real rarity here is the same studio releasing any game back-to-back. What's also interesting is that there's no sign of a Nintendo Switch 2 version. Not that fans have ever been desperate for one, but Microsoft made a big fuss about bringing Call Of Duty back to Nintendo formats, when making their argument as to why thy should be allowed to buy Activision Blizzard. Thus far though, they haven't announced anything for the new format, with Black Ops 7 only confirmed for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. There's no release date but new Call Of Duty games are usually released around late October. Since Activision do now belong to Microsoft, the game will be available day one on Game Pass. Call of Duty 2026 has been announced and it's back-to-back Black Ops
For the first time in the history of the Call of Duty series, we'll be getting two consecutive entries in a sub-series, as Black Ops 7 has been announced for release in 2026 In a groundbreaking move for the Call of Duty franchise, Activision has revealed that for the first time, we'll see back-to-back annual releases of Black Ops. Activision has unveiled its plans for Call of Duty 2026, and to everyone's astonishment, it's Black Ops 7. The publisher usually rotates its studios between different series – with Black Ops and Modern Warfare being the focus for the past few years alongside Warzone battle royale – and typically releases them every other year. Despite last year's release being Black Ops 6, which would normally mean a hiatus until 2027, Activision has decided to buck the trend. The announcement of Black Ops 7 was made at SGF 2025 during the Xbox Games Showcase, and this time around, the game is set to catapult players into the future, specifically to the year 2035, which is 40 years on from the events of Black Ops 6. It's been quite some time since gamers have had the chance to engage with futuristic warfare technology; the last occasions were in Black Ops 3 and Black Ops 4, set in 2065 and the 2040s respectively. In a press statement detailing the backdrop of Black Ops 7, Activision stated, "The year is 2035 and the world is on the brink of chaos, ravaged by violent conflict and psychological warfare following the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. Wielding cutting-edge technology, David Mason and his team must fight back against a manipulative enemy who weaponizes fear above all else." Regarding the successive Black Ops releases, Call of Duty general manager Matt Cox said, "The Black Ops universe is amazing. The creativity and imagination that goes into the storytelling, the rich character depth, and the incredible moment-to-moment gameplay across all modes is really exceptional. As a team, our vision from the start was to create a back-to-back series experience for our players that embraced the uniqueness of the Black Ops sub-franchise." Tyler Bahl, head of Activision publishing marketing, also chimed in adding, "Delivering consecutive Black Ops games also allows our teams the tremendous opportunity to tap not only into our own creativity but also embrace the shift from a '90s setting to the new 2035 future setting within our marketing. "Today is only the beginning with this first teaser. The full reveal of Black Ops 7 is coming later this summer, so the community should be on the lookout for teases, clues and the surprises that the Black Ops series is known for. It's an exciting time as we prepare for a new Call of Duty reveal, and the next great experience to come." Black Ops 7 is slated for release on both current and previous generation consoles later this year and will debut as a day one Xbox Game Pass title. EA FC 25 Season 8: Shapeshifters will go live across all EA FC 25 game modes soon, offering rewards in Ultimate Team, Career Mode, and Clubs. Reasonably priced, the Season 7 Premium Pass was a hit with the Ultimate Team community, and EA has now confirmed a Premium Pass will be released once again for Season 8: Shapeshifters. As part of the latest set of patch notes for EA FC 25's Season Finale update, EA revealed the EA FC 25 Season 8 Objective rewards for the Premium Pass, and it looks incredible.
