BREAKING NEWS CCTV footage captures daylight shooting at Sydney kebab shop
A 'shockingly brazen' daylight shooting at a Sydney kebab shop has been captured on camera in wild CCTV footage.
In the latest gangland shooting to rock Sydney, two masked gunmen entered a kebab shop in the western suburb of Auburn just after 1pm on Monday and fired eight shots, with footage capturing the entire incident.
One man, 26, was hit in the arm and shoulder, another yet-to-be-identified male was shot in the face and an innocent bystander - a 50-year-old female shop employee - suffered two torso wounds.
The victims remained in Westmead Hospital on Monday night.
The gunmen tried to enter an office at the back of the shop before fleeing in a black BMW with cloned registration plates, Acting NSW Police Commissioner Peter Thurtell said.
'It is beyond comprehension that three people were shot in a crowded Sydney street in broad daylight, and the resources of the NSW police have already been deployed,' Commander Thurtell said.

Chris Minns blasts inquiry into Dural caravan plot as a 'giant conspiracy' as senior staffers are hit with arrest threat
NSW Premier Chris Minns has fiercely rebuffed calls for three of his senior staffers to appear before a parliamentary inquiry into the Dural caravan plot. Independent Upper House MP and inquiry chair, Rod Roberts, will on Tuesday sign summonses urging Mr Minns' chief of staff James Cullen and his two deputies – Sarah Michael and Edward Ovadia - to give evidence, the Daily Telegraph reports. Should they refuse, the Upper House could instruct its president, Ben Franklin, to request that a Supreme Court judge issue arrest warrants. But the premier made it clear he and his staffers would not cooperate, dismissing the inquiry as nothing more than a partisan attack. 'This is a giant conspiracy being pushed by the Opposition, Greens, and Independents,' Minns told 2GB radio on Tuesday. 'It's a conspiracy based on the false claim that we knew everything from the beginning and used it to push through laws to counter antisemitism.' In February, NSW introduced tougher hate speech laws following a series of antisemitic incidents across Sydney. One of the main triggers was a reported terror plot involving antisemitic threats and a caravan in Dural, a claim that was later revealed to be a hoax. Roberts said the inquiry would examine whether parliament was 'morally bullied' into passing the laws without knowing the full facts. The showdown follows refusals by both Minns and NSW Police Minister Yasmin Catley to appear before the inquiry. However, under parliamentary rules, Upper House inquiries cannot compel Lower House members such as Minns and Catley, to testify. Minns said Opposition and crossbench MPs had had opportunities to question him about the caravan plot during Question Time and biannual Upper House estimates. The premier said that claims he knew about the circumstances of the Dural caravan being a hoax from the very beginning were not true. He also denied claims that the incident was used to push through the anti-vilification laws passed earlier this year. 'My sense is that Mr Roberts made this outlandish conspiracy claim early on, and is trying to find some back fill evidence to justify it, and there is none there,' he said. Daily Mail Australia has contacted Roberts for comment. NSW Opposition Leader Mark Speakman told this publication that the inquiry was simply trying to get to the bottom of what happened. 'This isn't about targeting staff but getting to the truth,' he said in a statement. 'If the Premier and Police Minister won't front up, the committee has a duty to ask those who might know the facts, as the former opposition have done when we were in government. 'Staffers aren't the decision makers, but they might hold key evidence. The Jewish community deserves answers and NSW deserves a government that's honest and accountable.' Liberterian MP John Ruddick, who is a member of the inquiry, told Daily Mail Australia that the cross party group was holding the government accountable. 'The modus operandi of governments is to whip up fear and then rush in more laws to curb freedom so they appear to have done something,' he said. 'This needed to be reviewed by the parliament because if we just swept this under the carpet they'll do it again. 'There must be accountability and the inquiry is doing just that.' In 2023, the NSW Upper House invoked the Parliamentary Evidence Act in an attempt to compel the brothers of then Premier Dominic Perrottet to give evidence to an inquiry regarding the Hills Shire Council, a move then backed by the Labor Party.

ABC forced to delete story as it's revealed reporter received $16,000 from a weapons company for travel costs
The ABC is investigating one of its reporters after it was revealed he received $16,000 in travel costs from a weapons company he covered in one of his stories. Andrew Greene travelled from Sydney to Germany on business class flights worth about $16,000, and was put up in hotels in Hamburg and Kiel to attend a press event for the German weapons company TKMS. The company paid for his trip. The senior defence correspondent for the ABC later filed a segment for The World Today about TKMS including quotes from its CEO Oliver Burkhard. After revelations of Greene's junket came to light, the story was removed from the ABC website. 'We know what we're doing,' Mr Burkhard told Greene in the report. 'I know our competitors, they never have been exported in the past.' Greene did not disclose the trip to either his ABC audience or his bosses, according to Media Watch. As far as the ABC knew, he was on personal leave and had obtained audio of Mr Burkhard's press conference by email, rather than travelling to Germany in person. Media Watch host Linton Besser was highly critical of the veteran reporter, saying that 'while Andrew Greene might have a long history as a news breaker, he's now been brought undone by weakness before temptation'. Media Watch host Linton Besser (pictured) was highly critical of the veteran reporter 'It's a cautionary if shabby tale of the risk every journalist takes in flirting with the generosities of a ruthless corporate sector.' After Media Watch put questions to the national broadcaster about Greene's trip, his story was scrubbed from its website. It has since launched an investigation into Greene's conduct. 'These are serious allegations and the ABC is investigating them,' ABC spokesperson Sally Jackson said in a statement on Monday. 'The ABC has rigorous editorial policies and any such behaviour, if proven, would be unacceptable and could constitute misconduct.

Pheobe Bishop: human remains found near Bundaberg confirmed as those of missing Queensland teenager
Police say they have identified human remains found in scrub near Bundaberg as missing teenager Pheobe Bishop. Bishop's housemates – James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33 – were arrested on 5 June and charged with her murder. They have not entered pleas and are on remand awaiting trial. The following day, police discovered remains during a search of an area near Good Night Scrub national park, close to Gin Gin. On Tuesday, police said they had identified the remains belonged to the 17-year-old. 'Police have confirmed human remains located at an area near Good Night Scrub national park are that of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop,' the Queensland Police Service said in a statement. 'Investigations into locating more items of interest in relation to this matter remain ongoing.' It is understood police continue to search for Bishop's luggage. Police have also renewed an appeal for any information in relation to Bishop, or the movement of a grey Hyundai iX35 between 15 and 18 May in the greater Gin Gin area. Helen Blackburn, the mayor of the Bundaberg region, said in a statement the confirmation that remains belonged to Pheobe brought 'great sadness' to the community. 'This is the heartbreaking outcome none of us wanted,' Blackburn said. 'Our community came together in hope – searching, sharing, and praying for Pheobe's safe return. 'To Pheobe's family and friends, I offer my deepest condolences on behalf of the Bundaberg region community. We are holding you in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time.' The Bundaberg magistrates court has heard that Wood and Bromley allegedly murdered the missing teenager before moving her body from a national park. They have been charged with murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse. They will appear in court again on 11 August.
