Local enthusiasm played role luring 'Real Housewives' to RI. What we know about the show.

PROVIDENCE – The buzz started a couple of days after Christmas last year when a shadowy Instagram account began touting a Rhode Island edition of the "Real Housewives" franchise that runs on Bravo TV.
On Wednesday, May 7, the dreams of fans of that idea came true when Bravo posted on X the news that "Real Housewives of Rhode Island" would be, well, a reality.
But that headline, along with a vague plot tease was all that Bravo had to say, along with a vague plot tease:
"Set against the shores of the Ocean State, 'The Real Housewives' franchise expands into the world of a tight-knit circle of Rhode Islanders who have deep community roots and families that go back generations. With aspirational lives, thriving businesses and tangled family dynamics, these decade-long friendships prove that in a state this small, there's no escaping your past … or each other."
So, will Bravo talk about when will it be on, who will be in the cast, where it will take place?
A publicist for the show told The Providence Journal that all that will be announced when the show's premiere gets closer.
So, when's that?
No amount of reporter sweet-talking could get that out of the network.
But, social media sites offer some clues, even if they are highly unofficial, maybe even unreliable.
Last year, just after Christmas, the hype began building when someone – it's still not clear whether they were officially affiliated with Bravo – posted an Instagram site touting a Rhode Island version of "Real Housewives."
The site showed six women, along with their husbands or fiancés, who presumably were being considered for the cast:
Elizabeth and Gerald.
Rosie and Rich.
Monique and Patrick.
Rulla and Brian.
Joellen and Gary.
Alicia and fiancé Bill.
It also shows photos of seven houses, along with the purchase prices. Is this where the "Real Housewives of Rhode Island live?
A Cranston house that sold for $750,000.
Another Cranston house, for $350,000.
A Lincoln residence, the priciest of the group at $1.29 million.
Yet another Cranston place, $755,000.
The southernmost, in North Kingstown, $689,000.
Affordable housing in North Providence, $264,000.
A cozy spot on the East Side of Providence, $735,000.
Though no one has officially owned up to creating the Instagram site hyping the "Real Housewives of Rhode Island" back in December, it played a critical role, according to Steven Feinberg, executive director of the Rhode Island Film & TV Office.
The vague possibility that the series was coming to Rhode Island consumed the social media world around Christmas. TV and newspaper reporters tried to confirm the story, but the only official word was from Feinberg, who called it "speculative at best."
Turns out that's all it was. But Rhode Island's feverish reaction to the rumor convinced producers to give Rhode Island a second look.
"The buzz around Christmas time showed our enthusiasm," Feinberg told The Journal on May 7. At that point, producers were considering several states as the location for the next "Real Housewives" series. But Rhode Islanders reacted so positively that it made Little Rhody a big contender. "That buzz helped propel us," Feinberg said.
Then, a month or two ago, the decision was made that the show would come to Rhode Island.
The first widespread confirmation of the series Wednesday came from Feinberg in a Facebook post. "One of the most popular reality-shows ever to grace television, 'The Real Housewives' franchise sparked an avalanche of enthusiasm when word spread that this entertaining series just might land in the Ocean State," Feinberg said. "Well, good news, folks. 'The Real Housewives of Rhode Island' is ready to roll and take the world by storm! Action!"
Gov. Dan KcKee joined the buzz, welcoming the show to the Ocean State with a post on X saying, 'You can find me where the chowder's clear, the coffee's milk, and the Housewives are Real.'
In a more formal news release from Feinberg's office, Gov. Dan McKee said, 'We're excited to welcome 'The Real Housewives' and their millions of viewers to Rhode Island. Our state is home to vibrant communities, amazing food, rich history, and stunning coastal beauty – perfect for the spotlight. This is a great opportunity to support our local economy and bring national attention to all Rhode Island has to offer.'
'The filming of 'The Real Housewives of Rhode Island' is a great way to showcase some of the Ocean State's world-class dining and hospitality,' said House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi.
'I am pleased to welcome Bravo's 'Real Housewives' franchise to Rhode Island, and I am excited for the show's millions of fans to get a glimpse into our state's rich history, culture, and natural beauty," said Valarie J. Lawson, president of the state Senate.
The show is produced by Evolution Media, with Lucilla D'Agostino, Joseph Ferraro, Jen McClure-Metz and Andy Cohen as executive producers.
"Real Housewive of Rhode Island" will join established series set in Orange County, New York City, Atlanta, Beverly Hills, New Jersey, Potomac, Salt Lake City and Miami. Three other locations have also hosted "Real Housewives" shows: Dubai, Dallas and Washington, DC.

Although Markle was careful to keep her kids' faces private, they are already looking so grown Markle and Prince Harry took their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on a family trip to Disneyland—and the photos and videos could not be cuter. Markle shared a few glimpses into their family vacation with a montage set to Peggy Lee's 'It's a Good Day' on Instagram, writing, 'Thank you @disneyland for giving our family two days of pure joy!' In the video montage, Markle and Harry take their kids on some of the most iconic Disneyland rides, including the Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Dumbo The Flying Elephant, Star Wars: Rise Of The Resistance, and the Cars Land ride. Lilibet also looked thrilled to meet Elsa from Frozen. Markle wore a pair of the iconic Minnie Mouse ears over a black cap, along with a casual white shirt and jeans, while Harry opted for a black polo shirt and a cap. Archie coordinated with his dad wearing a simple top and jeans, while Lilibet wore an array of cute sundresses and a sparkly blue cap. Although Markle blocked out her children's faces, the video showed that Lilibet's strawberry red hair is getting ultra long and wavy, while Archie's hair is still just as auburn as ever. And the two kids are already looking so grown up! Lilibet turned four on June 4, and the family's trip to Disneyland seemingly coordinated with the big day—she even got a giant Mickey Mouse with a 'Happy Birthday, Lili' badge and a Little Mermaid-themed cake. The trip comes 31 years after Harry visited Walt Disney World with his mother, the late Princess Diana, and his brother, Prince William. Markle's video of her family trip to Disneyland follows on the heels of another intimate glimpse into her life with Harry. In honor of Lilibet's birthday, she shared a hilarious video of the pair twerking in the delivery room before welcoming her four years ago. Read the original article on InStyle

NYC influencer accuses scandal-plagued Brandy Melville of ripping off her logo on new t-shirt: ‘They're so shameless'

A Big Apple fashion designer is accusing the scandal-plagued fast-fashion chain Brandy Melville — worn by pop star Ariana Grande and other celebs — of ripping off her western-themed logo. 'Brandy Melville stole my logo and put it all over a bunch of shirts, and we're doing some investigative research today to see if they're in store and, unfortunately, buy them, so I can get them to my lawyer,' influencer Emma DiMarco, the founder of the Brooklyn-based vintage and apparel brand 'Kissing Cowboys,' said in a May 31 Instagram video. The clip then shows DiMarco, 29, inside of Brandy Melville's Union Square location, pulling one of its $21 red T-shirts – which bears the words 'Kissing Cowboys' in white font and a black-colored silhouette of a cowboy – off a hanger. Advertisement 'I'm, like, actually speechless. This is so insane,' DiMarco continued in the video, which has amassed nearly 175,000 views. Brandy Melville, which launched in Italy in the 1990s before coming to the US in 2009, has repeatedly been accused of fostering a toxic environment — racial and size discrimination included — among its workers, according to reports. Advertisement Former employees blew the whistle on workplace conditions and toxic culture in a 2024 HBO film, 'Brandy Hellville & the Cult of Fast Fashion.' 3 Emma DiMarco claims Brandy Melville ripped off the design she created for this flyer, and posted on Instagram last year. Kissing Cowgirls/ Instagram 3 Brandy Melville removed the $21 t-shirt off its website this week. Helayne Seidman DiMarco claims the popular fashion brand has now victimized her as well, by stealing and profiting off of the design she created for a vintage pop-up she hosted in Brooklyn last year, which remains visible on her public Instagram profile. Advertisement 'They must have screenshotted the flyer and removed the cigarette from the cowboy's mouth … but the space between the letters, the letters, and the space between the cowboy's head — it's all the same,' DiMarco fumed. 'They're so shameless — that's the part that makes me really angry, is that they're basically like, 'What the f–k are you going to do about it?' DiMarco told The Post. 3 'They're so shameless – that's the part that makes me really angry,' DiMarco, who sells her own 'Kissing Cowboy'-brand merch, told The Post. Olivia Munn reveals she ‘felt like an expectant father' while waiting for her daughter to arrive via surrogate

Olivia Munn knows that in the end it worked out exactly as it should. Although while the actress, 44, was waiting for the arrival of her second child, daughter Méi, now 8 months, via surrogate, she wasn't sure she felt totally connected. Munn, who also shares son Malcom, 3, with husband John Mulaney told People in an interview published Saturday, that waiting for Méi to be born 'was the first time I was like, 'Oh wait, is this what it's like to be an expectant dad?'' Olivia Munn / Instagram 'A lot of times people say, 'Oh, the dads don't really connect with the baby until it's right there in front of them,' ' she explained. 'The dads, they're not carrying the baby. I carried Malcolm, so I understood from the very genesis, like, okay, I've got a life in me. Your body is changing and your energy is changing and your hair is changing and everything's changing, so it feels very real all the time.' This time around, Munn and Mulaney, 42, opted for a surrogate after the 'Buddy Games' alum underwent a double mastectomy and hysterectomy following her breast cancer diagnosis. Advertisement 'Even though it all felt very real for me, and our surrogate and I spoke all the time and she'd send me videos, it was a little bit of, 'Oh wait, she's coming,'' Munn continued. 'I felt like an expectant father.' 'It was important to do it at that moment, but it was also scary because my type of cancer feeds on hormones, and there are a lot of hormone injections with IVF,' the 'Your Friends & Neighbors' star said about deciding to do an egg retrieval before her cancer surgeries. After the procedure, Munn shared she was able to retrieve seven eggs, with two of the embryos being 'strong enough to be tested for abnormalities and the gender.' I know this puts me at risk, but I just need you to support me,' ' Munn recounted. 'He said, 'Whatever you need.' ' The Hollywood vet's doctor then called and confirmed she had two healthy female embryos. As Munn put it, 'that was a sign for me everything was going to be okay.' Oliviamunn/Instagram And when it came to choosing a surrogate to carry their daughter, one thing in particular mattered most: 'The number one thing that I wanted in a surrogate was someone who was kind.' She added, 'I just wanted her to be kind, and I needed her to understand that this is a path that I had to go on. This is not a choice I would've made for myself.' 'The first thing I worried about was if I would be able to find somebody who would love and take care of my daughter as much as I would,' Munn went on. 'We were so lucky to find someone so kind who we bonded with so much.' 8 Olivia Munn shares pictures from her cancer surgeries. oliviamunn/Instagram 8 Olivia Munn opens up about her cancer journey. oliviamunn/Instagram Despite finding someone they trusted, 'The Daily Show' alum 'had a concern of 'Will my daughter know me?' 'I knew she knew me, and I knew her. She's got this stick-straight hair that I had when I was a baby. I think because I wasn't able to carry her, I really needed to see myself in her. I see myself in her so much.' 8 Olivia Munn shares snaps from home. oliviamunn/Instagram Looking at where her life is now, two years after receiving a life altering cancer diagnosis, Munn gushed: 'It's so crazy to think that I'm sitting here with two amazing babies. I'm just so happy and grateful, and I'm really proud of what I've been able to do. I didn't know how much strength I had inside me.' Mulaney noted that 'it wasn't just the courage of it. She also was just giving us — it's always just her greatest best self throughout it.'
