Eagles vs. Commanders predictions
Eagles 30, Commanders 20
Washington was the road underdog in both of its playoff games so far and came away victorious in both. But the Commanders have not faced a defense as strong as Philadelphia's during this playoff run.
Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels picked apart the Buccaneers' pass defense to the tune of a 68.5% completion rate, 268 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers were even better against the banged-up Lions defense, and Washington was able to get its run game going as well against Detroit's injury-depleted defensive front.
After turning the ball over on downs on their first possession last weekend, Daniels and the Commanders completed four consecutive scoring drives to build a 31-21 halftime lead that they never gave back.
The NFC East runners-up face a much taller task against an outstanding (and healthier) Eagles defense in the NFC championship game. Philadelphia held its first two postseason opponents to a combined completion rate under 60% and picked off Packers quarterback Jordan Love three times in the wild-card round.
Daniels played well against the Eagles in the two regular-season clashes between these divisional opponents, but the Commanders had trouble getting their run game going in those games. If those issues don't get resolved against the exceptional front seven Philadelphia has, Washington's offense will start to look one-dimensional, which would be a big problem against Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio and his squad.
Additionally, the Commanders will have to figure out a way to stop running back Saquon Barkley and the Eagles' rushing offense as a whole. Barkley has had more success against Washington than any other team in his career, and the Commanders already allowed big days to opposing tailbacks in their first two playoff games.
Washington has stayed out of too much trouble by winning the turnover margin to help stay in games, but if Philadelphia gets an early lead, they'll pound the rock with Barkley and march to another Super Bowl appearance.

Brian Baldinger breaks down preseason film of RJ Harvey's NFL debut
Denver Broncos second-round draft pick RJ Harvey made his (preseason) NFL debut in a 30-9 win over the San Francisco 49ers last Saturday. The rookie running back rushed seven times for 25 yards and hauled in a four-yard reception. After the dust settled, NFL Network's Brian Baldinger reviewed the film and took to Twitter/X to review Harvey's first game in the NFL. Broncos second-year quarterback Bo Nix was asked about Harvey's performance after the win. 'Yeah, it's fun to watch him go out there and compete," Nix said. "He's young. He's got a lot of ball left ahead of him. He's got some juice. He can get out of the backfield and catch the ball. His routes are great. He runs the ball really well and he's just going to learn and grow and continue to get better with the run schemes and all that kind of stuff. It's hard as a newcomer that your first time really going live to see how everything develops. But it's going to take time, and he's just going to get better over time and each rep he gets, he's going to get better at it. "He's going to see a lot more as he goes down the road and he's just going to be able to add a lot of tools to his toolbox as we go. So I'm excited for him, excited for the whole running back room. I thought they did a really good job. They ran the ball tough, ran the ball physically, got some first downs, broke a lot of tackles, which is always good to see, and so that's a good room right now.' Harvey appears poised to share the backfield with J.K. Dobbins this season. Other backs competing for playing time in Denver include Jaleel McLaughlin, Tyler Badie, Blake Watson and Audric Estime. It wasn't a perfect debut for Harvey, but there were some promising signs. The Arizona Cardinals are on deck next (full preseason schedule). Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X!
