10A Bumiputra SPM student assured of place, scholarship in UniKL, UPTM

KUANTAN: Bumiputra students who obtain 10As and above in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination are guaranteed places in two institutions under Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
He said MARA had also agreed to offer full scholarships to outstanding students who were pursuing their studies at Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) and Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM).
'But I also want to give an opportunity to students who obtained 5A to 10A to be given a place at the university,' he said in his speech before launching the 2025 National Level MARA Education Foundation (YPM) Squad at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Silver Jubilee Hall here today.
Also present were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail and MARA chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
The YPM Squad was mobilised as a platform to expand access to quality education to rural and B40 students, while also fostering the values ​​of leadership, volunteerism, entrepreneurship and unity among the younger generation.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development, also advised students who are less outstanding in academics to continue their studies in the field of Technical Education and Training and Vocational (TVET) in 1,398 institutions nationwide.
'Although applications for admission to TVET institutions for the July session only opened on April 15, I am very grateful that the number of applications has jumped to 126,000,' said Ahmad Zahid who is also the chairman of the National TVET Council.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said he would be requesting an allocation of more than RM4 billion for MARA's expenses in next year's budget to be presented this October.
He said the allocation was, among other things, to empower the nation's agenda, including to carry out various educational programmes that benefit the young.
Meanwhile, Wan Rosdy said the state government was strengthening its commitment to producing young leaders through the Pahang Lead Programme by approving an allocation of RM2 million for its implementation this year.
He said the programme, which was first introduced in 2024, was a strategic initiative of the Pahang Foundation and the Pahang Education Department, involving more than 261,000 secondary school students throughout the state.
The Pahang state government also channeled RM500,000 for supports education initiatives under YPM.

According to him, MARA was also offering RM1 million for structured technical training, in addition to rebranding support and financing facilities for selected entrepreneurs. 'Entrepreneurs will also receive support in terms of spare parts supply, improving the image of their premises and developing a more efficient and competitive workshop operating system. 'MARA will continuously monitor the programme, as it is not merely about providing financing but also involves structured training and ensuring integration with the supply chain network,' he told reporters after launching the programme here today. Meanwhile, MARA, in a statement, said PETRONAS Lubricants Marketing Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PLMM) would supply PETRONAS Sprinta brand lubricant products directly to MotoExpert workshops without involving middlemen, thereby enabling entrepreneurs to enjoy higher profit margins. 'PLMM will also assist entrepreneurs in marketing, technical training and fostering collaboration with external industry players,' it said. The programme is open to graduates of MARA's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions or other recognised institutions who have operated a motorcycle workshop for at least six months, with annual sales exceeding RM360,000, subject to an interview-based selection.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Perak MADANI Rakyat Programme (PMR) 2025, set to take place at the Lumut Waterfront from June 13 to 15, will focus on Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia leavers and students, in line with its theme, 'Pendidikan Tinggi Pemacu Negara MADANI'. Higher Education Ministry (MOHE) Management Services Division undersecretary Faizal Said said the event aims to provide youth with information, assistance and access to higher education opportunities. 'We are bringing together various agencies under MOHE to offer details on scholarships, PTPTN loans, TVET programmes, MQA accreditation, artificial intelligence and more -- all under one roof -- to make it easier for youth to obtain guidance and submit applications,' he said during an interview on Bernama Radio today. Faizal said the event would also involve other ministries, government-linked companies, non-governmental organisations and private sector players offering educational, training and career opportunities. 'Over 200 services will be offered directly by federal and state government agencies, with 36 booths in operation to facilitate public engagement and transactions,' he said. Other highlights include the MADANI Sales offering 10 to 30 per cent discounts on essential goods, a security assets exhibition, and four satellite programmes around the Manjung district. 'A wide range of activities and services for all levels of society will be available, including a silent drill performance by the Royal Malaysian Navy, a jet ski competition, free motorcycle servicing by TVET students, as well as Al-Quran and motorcycle helmet exchange programmes,' he said. Faizal added that more than 1,000 job vacancies from 10 companies across various sectors would be open to job seekers during the event. 'We invite all to seize this opportunity. The exhibition will be open from 9 am to 10 pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 9 am to 6 pm on Sunday,' he said. The programme is an initiative under the MADANI Government, organised through a strategic collaboration between the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU) under the Prime Minister's Department, MOHE as the lead ministry, and the Perak government as host.
