The Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi, in collaboration with the Director of the Italian Embassy Cultural Centre, recently invited art lovers to a unique exhibition titled "Away to Stay" - a showcase of evocative watercolour paintings by Czech-Canadian artist Kurt van der Basch.
The exhibition was held earlier this week at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in New Delhi.
Away to Stay
Known internationally for his work as a Hollywood storyboard artist, he has spent over two decades sketching cinematic visions for the silver screen. But during a transformative three-and-a-half-year stay in India, he turned his attention away from film sets and toward the world outside his window - bustling streets, quiet corners, everyday people and fleeting moments - all captured through the delicate immediacy of watercolour painting.
Attendees said that they found Away to Stay is a deeply personal body of work. The paintings offer not only a glimpse into van der Basch's evolving artistic practice, but also a rare outsider's view into the rhythms and textures of life across the India - rendered with warmth, sensitivity, and an eye for detail honed by years in visual storytelling.
The exhibition was a celebration of cross-cultural experience, quiet observation, and the timeless appeal of watercolour as a medium.

BTS' Label BigHit Music Unveils The Name Of Its New Five-Member Boy Group

Last Updated: BigHit Music's new boy group CORTIS comprises Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon and Keonho. K-pop fans, are you ready? BigHit Music, the agency behind industry bigwigs like BTS and TXT, has just unveiled details about its new group, which is set to make its debut on August 18. The agency not just announced the name of the five-membered group but also released a teaser, hinting at what to expect from the upcoming boy group. On August 7 at midnight KST, BigHit Music revealed that its brand-new boy band, comprising Martin, James, Juhoon, Seonghyeon and Keonho, will be called CORTIS. It is the first new group under the label since TXT's debut six years ago. A short clip, which showcased the name of the group written in pink on a laptop screen, unveiled the group's name. They are all set to make their debut on August 18. Moreover, the agency also shared that the group will debut a video on August 10 at midnight KST on its parent company, HYBE Label's official YouTube channel. The video could likely give a hint at their debut music or maybe their overall vibe. Apart from these, BigHit Music revealed that CORTIS now have their official social media profiles on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. Who Are The Members Of BigHit Music's CORTIS? Earlier this year, BigHit Music, a subsidiary of the South Korean entertainment giant HYBE, announced that it would be debuting a new boy group. More recently, they confirmed that the group, named CORTIS, will debut with five members. As reported by Koreaboo, 17-year-old Martin, a Canadian-Korean, is speculated to be the leader of the group. 20-year-old Thai-Chinese descent James is said to be the eldest among the members. The three other members of the group are 17-year-old Juhoon, 16-year-old Seonghyeon, and 16-year-old Keonho, who is the maknae of the group. All three are Koreans. What Are The Roles Of The Members In CORTIS? In a previously released statement by BigHit Music, the agency stated that the quintet will be a 'young creators' crew", where members will be creating their own music, choreography and videos. 'They will express their creative talent based on their own stories. All members will take part in the creative process, regardless of their set positions," said the agency. The band members have previously contributed to BIGHIT's other acts, including TXT. Martin has worked with TXT on Deja Vu, Miracle, and, more recently, on Beautiful Strangers. He has also contributed to ENHYPEN's Outside, LE SSERAFIM's Pierrot, and ILLIT's Magnetic. On the other hand, James has choreographed for TXT and ILLIT. ‘Lahore Se Dilli': Man's Artistic Tribute To Grandparents' Partition Story Is A Must-Watch

Last Updated: A Delhi-based artist turned his grandparents' old Ambassador car into a moving piece of art by hand-painting it with bold colours and unique designs. The Ambassador car is more than just a car for many Indians. It's a symbol of nostalgia and legacy. And one Delhi-based artist, Param Sahib, gave it a colourful twist like never before. He turned his grandparents' old Ambassador into a moving piece of art by hand-painting it with bold colours and unique designs. His artwork, titled Lahore Se Dilli, tells the story of his grandparents who moved to India from Lahore after the partition. He spent four weeks carefully turning the car into a moving canvas filled with pop culture references, tradition and colour. Taking to Instagram, the artist wrote, 'I painted a vintage ambassador car in almost 28 days and shot it with a drone in the heart of the city. The Baap of all my DIYs. The Hand Painted car titled – LAHORE SE DILLI, was an ode to my grandparents' travelling to India post partition from Lahore and how Love was the only constant in all the generations. This Labour of Love project took over 7 months to conceptualise and approximately one month to paint, with a great team, execution and a launch party to remember. My heart beams with joy and happiness every time I see this car." Internet Is Loving It Reacting to the post, a user wrote, 'So amazing, so colourful and intricate." Another shared, 'How much talent we have in India, I'm so proud." 'Omg this is my literal dream," a comment read. An individual stated, 'A beautiful one-of-a-kind masterpiece! Love it." Another mentioned, 'Omg I love it. So many happy childhood memories with the ambassador." One more added, 'Most gorgeous." Param Sahib's Love For Art And Colours: In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Param Sahib, discussing his love for art, had said, 'Param's art often reflects his own personal experiences. It's an honest feeling put on canvas. This is why people can relate to it on a larger scale. My art gives me a sense of being myself without any inhibitions. That's the thing with art. It's always fearless. As an artist, I am able to bring out the truth without saying much. It doesn't go down well with some but the way it stirs others to believe in themselves is what keeps me going." Param's love for bright colours comes from his childhood. He spent a lot of time at his grandparents' home in a village in Punjab, where everything was filled with colour and energy. Growing up in such a lively environment made him fall in love with bold shades. Being Punjabi, he feels that wearing happy and bright colours is just a natural part of life.
