Man Utd announce FURTHER increase in ticket prices despite suffering worst Premier League season in club's history

MANCHESTER UNITED have announced an increase in ticket prices despite finishing 15th in the Premier League last season.
That was their worst Prem finish in history, yet non-season ticket holders will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets for the upcoming campaign.

United have also introduced match categorisation for the first time for 2025/26.
That sees Prem fixtures split up into three categories, with cup tickets in a separate, and cheapest, slot costing £32-£52.
The three league categories are A, B and C, with the most expensive option costing £97.
That ticket falls under Category A which will be in place for six Prem matches, although the club state less than one per cent of tickets will cost £97.

The majority of matches will be included Category B, priced between £57-£86.
While just two league games, against Sunderland and Wolves, will be selected for the cheapest category, C, where prices range from £37 to £60.
The six Category A fixtures are Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Newcastle, Tottenham and Leeds.
The new pricing model means the average cost of a general admission match ticket is £46.51, compared to £41.41 for the 2024/25 campaign.

United kick off their Premier League campaign at home to Arsenal on August 17.
That clash has already been selected as one of the TV games and will feature on Sky Sports' Super Sunday.

The broadcaster will also show the first Prem game of the season between Liverpool and Bournemouth, as well as Aston Villa vs Newcastle for the lunchtime kick-off.
Wolves vs City is Saturday's evening kick off, while Sunday will see Chelsea take on Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in front of Sky cameras.

The teenager's debut for Arsenal came during the 2-2 draw against Manchester City in September and he earned huge plaudits for his solid defensive display despite never previously featuring for the senior side. He would go on to play a total of 39 times for the first team as he started 15 games in the Premier League and seven in the Champions League. There have even been stunning reports that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the player, but any new deal should put those stories to bed. Earlier this season, Lewis-Skelly made it clear how much he admires manager Arteta, indicating his happiness at his boyhood club - calling him a "genius". "His attention to detail is incredible," he told Sky Sports in April. "I love to learn so learning from him and the way he handles and approaches the games, it's fascinating. There's so much I can take from him. He's a genius really." In turn, Arteta has been complimentary about the teenage talent and insisted his England call-up was a direct result of hard work. He said in March: "In six-seven months, your career can change dramatically for the good, so it's something for people to be inspired by. It hasn't happened because he was lucky. He pushed for every chance to happen."

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk charged by FA over anti-doping rule violation
The 24-year-old has not played since being handed a provisional suspension in December after he returned a positive test, reportedly for the banned substance meldonium. An FA statement said: 'We can confirm that Mykhailo Mudryk has been charged with anti-doping rule violations alleging the presence and/or use of a prohibited substance, in terms of regulations three and four of the FA's anti-doping regulations. 'As this is an ongoing case, we are not in a position to comment further at this time.' Chelsea have been approached for comment. Earlier this month Mudryk's number 10 shirt was given to Cole Palmer for next season, leaving the Ukraine international without a squad number at Stamford Bridge. In a statement issued at the time of his suspension, Mudryk said the positive sample had come as 'a complete shock' and he had 'not done anything wrong,' with Chelsea adding the player had 'never knowingly used any banned substances'. The result was returned shortly after he had been away on international duty with Ukraine in November, during which time the banned substance is reported to have been administered. Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca initially said the winger was unavailable through illness to explain a four-game period that he was absent from the team prior to the suspension being made public. Mudryk last played for the club in a 2-0 win away to Heidenheim in the Conference League on November 28. He was then an unused substitute for the 3-0 Premier League win against Aston Villa three days later. His last appearance in the league came on November 10 as a second-half substitute in a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal. Mudryk's time at Stamford Bridge has been dogged by inconsistency on the pitch. Brief flourishes of talent have been interrupted by periods of limited impact while his finishing and delivery from wide have frustrated supporters since his £88million move from Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2023. He has scored just 10 goals in 73 appearances in all competitions and has rarely held down a regular place in the team. Under Maresca his chances have been even more limited with most of his games coming in the cup competitions and in Europe, with just a single Premier League start in August's 6-2 win over Wolves.

Chelsea's opening match in Atlanta on Monday was watched by 22,137 people in a stadium able to hold 71,000, while just 3,412 people watched Tuesday's match between Ulsan HD and Mamelodi Sundowns in Orlando. Molango, the chief executive of the Professional Footballers' Association, has previously said football risks 'killing the product' through overexposure, and said on Wednesday these sparse crowds were a sign of fans becoming turned off by the volume of football. 'In many ways, football is like any other industry. If you keep increasing the amount of product while diluting its quality, customers will always respond the same way,' he told the PA news agency. 'It's bad for business. Other major sports growing their global reach understand that.' Player unions including the PFA are involved in legal action against FIFA over what they see as a failure to adequately consult over the international fixture calendar. Unions believe FIFA is placing player welfare in jeopardy. Chelsea and Manchester City will have just a five-week break between the tournament ending and the new Premier League season starting if they go all the way, even though medical and conditioning experts agree players need a minimum of eight weeks to rest and retrain between seasons. 'Too many games and a lack of proper rest periods mean that quantity is already impacting quality,' Molango added. 'Medical professionals have highlighted the negative impact the current calendar is having on players, and the steps that need to be taken to address it. 'But even if you believe that players can play this number of games with no proper break, it doesn't mean you should want them to. 'Players tell us they're approaching games fatigued, and we're regularly seeing long-term injuries directly affect matches and tournaments, with players either missing out or unable to perform at their best.' FIFA said 340,000 fans had attended the first eight matches, which it said was a 'powerful demonstration of club football's global appeal'. It said four of the five top-selling group stage matches were still to come. The prize money on offer is huge, with Manchester City or Chelsea standing to earn almost £100million if they win it.
