The Backstreet Boys Score A New No. 1 Bestseller In America With A Duet

Friday is the busiest day of the week in the music industry. It marks the beginning of the tracking week for the charts, so artists typically release new albums and songs as Thursday night turns to Friday morning to maximize the time available to rack up streams and sales that impact the Billboard rankings.
While streaming now dominates the business, a quick look at the iTunes charts each Friday still provides insight into which new tunes and full-lengths Americans are most excited about. As the most popular digital sales platform – and one that shows what's happening in real time – iTunes typically caters to die-hard superfans, and its data can sometimes predict which titles will become hits within days. This Friday, a collaboration is leading the way, featuring two groups that no one expected to work together, but who have pulled off a major win.
The Backstreet Boys sit at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart at the time of writing. The boy band joins Rascal Flatts as the two outfits soar to the highest spot, scoring the bestselling track in America on the platform. The pair reworked the Rascal Flatts classic 'What Hurts the Most,' and the new take has become an immediate bestseller, thanks to sizable fan bases from both acts.
'What Hurts the Most' is the latest promotional single from Life Is a Highway: Refueled Duets, the upcoming album from Rascal Flatts. Expected on June 6, the collection sees the band re-recording some of its biggest hits as collaborations with other stars. The full-length also marks a comeback for Rascal Flatts and serves as a celebration of 25 years in music.
Life Is a Highway: Refueled Duets includes collaborations with a number of artists across genre lines. Country names like Jason Aldean, Carly Pearce, and Blake Shelton are featured, but the band didn't stick to just the one style. Pop figures like the Backstreet Boys and Kelly Clarkson, whose 'I'm Moving On' was released earlier this year, are also included. The 10-song album features one original track, 'I Dare You,' which features the Jonas Brothers.
Released in late January, 'I Dare You' became a top 10 hit on Billboard's Country Digital Song Sales chart when it debuted at No. 8. The Clarkson duet 'I'm Moving On' also reached the same tally, peaking at No. 15 — and it looks like the Backstreet Boys may be headed for a country win as well.
Rascal Flatts released a cover of 'What Hurts the Most,' a song originally released by Mark Willis, in 2006. The tune first became a huge win on Billboard's country rankings, before crossing over and establishing itself as a relatively uncommon pop sensation at the time as well. It climbed to No. 1 on the style-specific rosters, and gave Rascal Flatts its biggest win on the Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 6. Dance group Cascada also scored a big chart smash with the cut several years later, as it seems that the song can be reworked into any style and the public will fall in love with it all over again.

17 Unbelievable Celebrity Photos From The '90s

Let's get one thing straight: the '90s were iconic in every way possible. There were no stylists curating looks for Instagram — just raw energy and some questionable fashion choices... Not only is Christina Ricci wearing CAPRIS, but also the fact that they have flames on I'm pretty sure the top she's wearing has a hole in it? From wild red carpet moments to the strangest celeb pairings imaginable, here are 17 of the most random photos of celebrities in the '90s. TLC (at the 1994 AMAs, ofc). Unlike most of the photos on this list, we actually have some context. In an interview with Oprah, the group explained the look was a statement to promote safe sex. I'll give it to them — I went from "huh?" to "that's honestly so cool of them." The Backstreet Boys' 1998 distorted portrait session in London. The fact that someone on their team approved this is insane to me — but also the fact that no one really knows about it? Not that surprising, honestly. Adam Sandler bidding a near-kissy goodbye to a penguin mascot at Planet Hollywood in 1995. I'm not sure what's going on here, but I do know this is typical Adam Sandler energy. Britney Spears making every face at once at MTV'S 1999 Big Help Concert. She was a rising star here, so maybe she was nervous? Sandra the toilet?! There was something about the '90s and random celebrity home photoshoots, and Bullock was clearly game. Shot in her LA home bathroom in 1993, this might just be the most fashionable bathroom break known to society. George Bush and Arnold Schwarzenegger casually tobogganing together in 1991. Am I the only one just now finding out that Schwarzenegger had an entire political career for almost a decade? Who was going to inform me?! Paris Hilton cuddling a Pikachu stuffy at what appears to be a Christmas event in 1999. Between the zebra-print dress, matching bracelets, and the Pokémon crossover, this might be the most '90s thing I've ever seen. The Spice Girls meeting Prince Charles at The Manchester Opera House in 1997. Mel B (Scary Spice) and Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) both broke royal protocol by planting a kiss on Prince Charles' cheek! Will Smith rocking a sumo suit on the set of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. This was from the episode "Will Steps Out" from 1994, where he sports the weighted suit to sympathize with his Uncle. I feel like there were better ways to show empathy but then again, this was the '90s... Keanu Reeves looking like he's NOT the king of Speed. Hah — get it? Arriving to the Another You premiere in 1991, It's looking like Mr. Reeves is just a bitttt too close to losing his balance. Cameron Diaz rocking a yellow feathered cap with serious Marge Simpson energy in 1996. It's high fashion meets comedy cartoon, and somehow, she's pulling it off. Julie Andrews and the Pink Panther — the crossover we didn't know we needed but absolutely deserve. Ofc, Julie and her husband, director Blake Edwards, were at the Son of the Pink Panther premiere in 1993. But let's be real — we deserved a full-on Julie Andrews starring role (beyond her brief appearances) in AT LEAST one Pink Panther movie. Sandra Bullock and John Travolta creepily peeking out from behind a curtain. Turns out, the two were waiting to be introduced at a press conference in 1996. But honestly, they're just giving a high school theatre kids eagerly waiting to go on stage vibe, and I kind of love it. Verne Troyer, Robert Wagner, and Rob Lowe channeling Dr. Evil at the Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me premiere in 1999. This pose is so iconic, who wouldn't strike one when given the chance? Brooke Shields getting a bittt cozy with Ronald McDonald at the 1992 "Helping Hands" event. America's sweetheart meets America's favourite burger clown? The chemistry is undeniable — McLove is in the air. Kevin Costner, just casually clinging to a street railing in 1990. His outfit is so '90s boyband, I'm shocked to find out that he wasn't in one. Rowan Atkinson getting way too close to a yellow Mini Cooper for Red Nose Day in 1995. If it were anyone else, I'd have more questions. But this is Mr. Bean we're talking about. Truly, the '90s gave us a kind of celebrity culture that will NEVER exist again — one where publicists were seemingly nowhere to be found, and the random moments were still a little bit wholesome. God bless the low camera quality and fearless fashion... Think we missed any random but iconic '90s celeb photos? Let us know in the comments! Taylor Swift's ‘Reputation' Spikes Nearly 1,200% In Sales

Ever since Taylor Swift revealed plans to re-record and re-release her first six albums after the rights to those works were sold away from her, superfans have eagerly awaited Reputation (Taylor's Version). Now that the superstar has officially reacquired the rights to her own catalog, it seems there may no longer be a need for Swifties to boycott the original Reputation – and there will likely not be a Reputation (Taylor's Version). With Swift's blessing, the original version is experiencing a thrilling resurgence. The pop icon's electronically-leaning, controversial full-length rockets up the Billboard charts this week following her announcement. Consumption of the 2017 project increased across the board, but sales in particular were exceptionally strong. According to Billboard, Reputation sold 15,000 copies during the latest tracking period in America alone, and the global total must be notably larger. That sum marks a nearly 1,200% increase from the prior frame. Those 15,000 copies will be enough to catapult Reputation back onto the Top Album Sales chart when Billboard refreshes its rankings tomorrow (June 10). The company reports that the set will reappear at No. 4 after being completely absent just days earlier. Swift's effort will nearly match that position on the Billboard 200, where it is scheduled to jump from No. 78 to fifth place. Total consumption of Reputation surged by more than 221% as the full-length moved 42,000 equivalent album units between purchases and streaming activity. Sales have largely fueled Reputation's comeback, but the album also racked up nearly 35 million streams on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music during the same timeframe. That figure is up 125% from the previous week. While that kind of growth would represent a career-best for many other artists, it's actually the smallest percentage gain Reputation posts across the major tallies following her acquisition notice.

Bruce Springsteen Drops ‘Land of Hope & Dreams' EP Featuring Speech That Set Off President Trump

Bruce Springsteen is doubling down on his stance that the United States government is 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous,' even after his remarks on the subject at a Manchester concert infuriated President Donald Trump last week. One week after criticizing the Trump administration during a speech at his European tour kickoff show in England — leading the twice-impeached POTUS to launch into a series of vitriolic posts targeting him on Truth Social — the Boss has released a Land of Hope & Dreams EP featuring a recording of the address as its opening track. 'In my home, the America I love, the America I've written about, and has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration,' he says in the audio snippet. 'Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experience to rise with us, raise your voices against the authoritarianism, and let freedom ring.' In addition to the politically charged speech, the six-track project also features live takes of the musician and his band performing 'Long Walk Home,' 'My City of Ruins' and 'Chimes of Freedom' in Manchester. There's also a three-and-a-half-minute recording of Springsteen once again critiquing the state of American politics later in the show. 'In my country, they're taking sadistic pleasure in the pain that they inflict on American workers, they're rolling back historic civil rights legislation that led to a more just and moral society,' he says in the clip. 'They're abandoning our great allies and siding with dictators against those struggling for their freedom.' The EP comes shortly after Trump responded to Springsteen's onstage remarks by calling him 'highly overrated' and 'dumb as a rock' on Truth Social, adding at the time, 'This dried out 'prune' of a rocker (his skin is all atrophied!) ought to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country, that's just 'standard fare.'' Later, the billionaire accused the 'Born in the U.S.A.' singer — along with Beyoncé, Oprah and Bono — of taking part in an 'illegal election scam' for Kamala Harris, alleging that he accepted an undisclosed payment from the 2024 Democratic nominee to endorse her for president. (Campaign finance records do not support this claim, and Harris' campaign has denied paying any artist for their support in last year's election.) Trump still hadn't let the matter go as of Wednesday, when he shared an edited video of himself golfing — and appearing to hit and knock over Springsteen with his ball — on Truth Social hours after the Land of Hope & Dreams EP dropped. But despite Trump's counters, Springsteen hasn't ever backed down on his firm stance against the president's policies. The E Street bandleader has long been vocal about his beliefs, telling The Atlantic in 2020 that he believed Trump — who in May 2024 was convicted of 34 felony counts in a hush money trial — to be a 'threat to our democracy.' Also in 2024, Springsteen proudly endorsed Harris and played at a number of her campaign events. He also appeared in an advertisement for the former VP's campaign, telling viewers, 'This election is about a group of folks who want to fundamentally undermine our American way of life … Donald Trump does not understand this country, its history, or what it means to be deeply American.'
