After Match-Fixing Allegations, Rajasthan Royals Demand Action Against RCA Ad-Hoc Committee Convener For Defamation

RCA ad-hoc committee convener made serious claims of match-fixing following Rajasthan Royals' close defeat to Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025.
Rajasthan Royals have demanded action against Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) ad-hoc committee convenor Jaideep Bihani after he made match-fixing allegations against the IPL franchise citing their close defeat to Lucknow Super Giants at home recently. RR endured a two-run defeat to LSG on Sunday in what has been a frustrating season for the inaugural champions.
Bihani had later questioned the reason why RR failed to chase down the target when they needed 9 runs in the last over with six wickets remaining.
RR have now written a letter to Rajasthan government and the state's Sports Council claiming the statement by Bihani has caused 'great damage to the reputation and image of Rajasthan Royals."
'Jaideep Bihani, convener of the ad-hoc committee of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), has issued a statement regarding Rajasthan Royals' (RR) performance in recent matches, Rajasthan Sports Council and BCCI. In which he has made comments raising doubts on the performance of Rajasthan Royals and hinting at manipulation in IPL matches," Sportstar quoted the letter as stating.
'These public allegations cause great damage to the reputation and image of Rajasthan Royals. Such statements have unnecessarily escalated the controversy and also attempted to mislead the public. Along with this, Bihani has also worked to reduce the credibility of Royal Multi Sport Private Limited (RMPL), Rajasthan Royals franchise, Rajasthan Sports Council and the BCCI, as well as cricket. Whereas we have been working successfully with the state association and state government as per the instructions of the BCCI for the last 18 years," the letter added.
In an interview to News18 Rajasthan, Bihani had also claimed that RR has blocked RCA's participation in the management of IPL matches being organised at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium this season.
In its letter, RR have claimed they have followed the BCCI guidelines and hence not involved RCA this year dismissing Bihani's claim as 'false" and 'baseless".
'Jaideep Bihani has also accused Rajasthan Royals management, Rajasthan Sports Council and BCCI of colluding with each other to exclude RCA ad hoc from participating in IPL. Whereas in reality, all the allegations made by ad hoc committee convener Jaideep Bihani are completely false and baseless. There is no evidence for them…" RR wrote.
'This year, according to the BCCI, Rajasthan Sports Council has the rights to host IPL matches in Jaipur. Therefore, Rajasthan Royals is working closely with the BCCI and the Council under the guidance and support of the state government to organise the IPL smoothly," it added.

When one organizes a victory celebrations of this magnitude, proper precautions, safety and security measures need to be taken. There has been some lapses in some corner somewhere. Due diligence should have been done so that an incident like this could have been avoided. I have heard that celebrations are on and I sincerely hope that nothing untoward happens. Even yesterday in Ahmedabad, during IPL finals, there were 120,000 people at the Narendra Modi Stadium. But BCCI has a dedicated team which has done elaborate planning in coordination with local district administration and law enforcing authorities to ensure that safety and security of the spectators. When we organized the Victory parade in Mumbai after the T20 World Cup, we had spoken to the local authorities and made elaborate arrangements keeping in mind the safety and security of the crowd who had come to see their heroes,' said BCCI secretary to PTI.

A celebration of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's first Indian Premier League (IPL) title quickly spiraled into a nightmare. As the victorious team arrived in a bus on Wednesday evening, thousands of fans had gathered, waving team flags and chanting in euphoria. But the joy was short-lived — at least seven people were killed in a stampede that followed, as per TV visuals were chilling. A police officer was seen carrying a limp body to an ambulance. Another victim lay unconscious on the road as bystanders scrambled to help. A moment meant to honour sporting glory ended in trauma and loss, with many pointing to crowd mismanagement and a lack of preparedness for such a massive this is not an isolated three months ago, on February 15, New Delhi Railway Station witnessed a similar descent into chaos. Around 10 pm, platforms 13 and 14 were packed with more than 1,500 general ticket holders trying to board trains like the Prayagraj Express and Bhubaneswar Rajdhani. Despite advisories and emergency preparations, the weight of expectations—and people—proved too much once July 2024, an even graver disaster unfolded in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district. After a religious gathering addressed by preacher Saakar Vishwa Hari Bhole Baba, at least 116 people — mostly women and children — were crushed to death in a stampede.
