New MagicOS 9 version brings the Phantom Engine to the Magic6 series for stable gaming

GSM Arena2 days ago

Honor has released a new MagicOS version for the Honor Magic6 series, version number 9.0.0.175. This includes new AI-powered photo editing tools, some improvements to the UI and the Phantom Engine for gaming. The initial MagicOS 9 update came months ago, this one is a feature-focused update.
The Phantom Engine was introduced with the Honor GT models. It predicts heavy frames – ones that will take more time to render – and allocates more resources to rendering them. This helps reduce stutter, but it may increase power consumption and heat. The Phantom Engine comes to the Honor Magic6 series
The Phantom Engine has support for Genshin Impact, Honor of Kings, Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero and others.
The change log for version 175 also includes other features. AI helps remove reflections and wrinkles in photos. You can set alarms for a specific time and date in a floating window. Screen recording and screenshots have been optimized. There is additional customization for the lockscreen too. You can block calls from regional numbers, which can help avoid spam calls.

Samsung partners with Glance AI to make your lock screen do more than just show notifications

Samsung Galaxy users in the US are getting a new kind of lock screen experience. Through a partnership between Glance and the Samsung Galaxy Store, users will now be able to try on outfits digitally, explore AI-curated looks, and shop directly from their phones — all from their lock the Google-backed company that previously made headlines for its ad-filled content feeds on Android, has introduced Glance AI, a new shopping and styling platform. This latest version is focused on delivering a more personalized and optional experience, with Samsung users in the US getting exclusive AI uses generative AI to let users see themselves in recommended outfits by analyzing just one photo. The platform creates realistic images showing users in different styles, helping them decide what suits them before they make a purchase. It's designed to work as both an app and a lock screen feature, and users can save or share their styled images as wallpapers or on social media. Powered by Google's Gemini and Imagen models, Glance AI also connects users with products from over 400 brands. Shopping suggestions are updated based on trends, local events, and social media, with features like flash sales and quick purchase options to keep things timely and relevant. While earlier versions of its lock screen product drew criticism for being too ad-focused, the new Glance AI is fully opt-in and offers more user control. In fact, Glance AI was praised by Jason Shim, Head of Samsung Galaxy Store USA, as a perfect example of the quality content the store wants to deliver. Together, Glance and Samsung aim to create a mobile experience where users can discover trends, get styling ideas, and shop quickly, all without opening an app. The lock screen, once just a place to check notifications, may now become a key part of how people interact with their phones.

Even more key Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Z Flip 7 FE details are now out of the bag

Even though we still don't have an official launch date for Samsung's next big Android-powered foldables, the start of the company's buzz-building campaign certainly suggests the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Z Flip 7 FE, Z Fold 7 , and possibly, Z Fold 7 Ultra are right around the corner. As such, it shouldn't come as a surprise that more and more tipsters feel confident in predicting more and more details about three of those fast-approaching devices... after their designs have already been leaked in trustworthy factory CAD-based renders and even a wild real-life photograph. Galaxy Z Fold 7 : 12GB RAM + 256GB storage; 12 + 512GB; 16GB + 1TB; : 12GB RAM + 256GB storage; 12 + 512GB; 16GB + 1TB; Galaxy Z Flip 7 : 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 12 + 256GB; 12 + 512GB; : 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 12 + 256GB; 12 + 512GB; Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: 8GB RAM + 128GB storage; 8 + 256GB. Wait, wasn't all this information revealed just yesterday? Not exactly. Arsène Lupin, aka @MysteryLupin, actually adds to the details leaked by WinFuture's Roland Quandt, thus providing a more complete picture of Samsung's 2025 foldable portfolio (minus the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra, which may or may not be a real thing). The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is expected to start with an underwhelming 8GB RAM count. The most important tidbit disclosed today that wasn't included in yesterday's report is how much RAM the Z Fold 7 , Z Flip 7 , and Z Flip 7 FE are set to pack in each storage configuration. Interestingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 will apparently be equipped with a hefty 16 gigs of memory in a top-of-the-line 1TB storage variant. That's especially notable because the most advanced (and the most expensive) Galaxy Z Fold 6 model only comes with 12GB RAM. Then again, Google's Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers a whopping 16 gigs of the good stuff in combination with as little as 256GB internal storage space, so clearly, Samsung can do even better than this if it wants to claim the best foldable trophy. The Z Flip 7 , meanwhile, is very curiously tipped to downgrade its predecessor's 12GB RAM to just 8 gigs for an entry-level 128GB storage variant while keeping the memory count of the Z Flip 6's two other configurations unchanged. That's likely to be a cost-cutting measure on Samsung's part, especially if the company aims to price the Galaxy Z Flip 7 at the same starting level as last year's Z Flip 6 , but it remains to be seen if customers will understand and accept the compromise. Speaking of compromises, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is expected to stick to 8GB RAM in both 128 and 256GB storage variants, which is both completely unsurprising and totally fine... as long as Samsung gets the Fan Edition pricing right. Galaxy Z Fold 7 : Silver Shadow, Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red; : Silver Shadow, Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red; Galaxy Z Flip 7 : Blue Shadow, White Black; : Blue Shadow, White Black; Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE: Black, White. The most exciting thing here is without a doubt the very swanky-sounding Coral Red-coated Z Fold 7 model, which should perfectly match the Coral Red Z Flip 7 flavor rumored yesterday. The first-of-a-kind Z Flip 7 FE could come in just two (rather boring) color options. Unfortunately (and unsurprisingly), the Z Flip 7 FE is unlikely to join its pricier sibling and cousin in adopting such a flashy hue, instead playing things safe with black and white colorways, at least based on existing information from two different and equally reliable insiders. Circling back to the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , it must be highlighted that its silver (shadow), blue (shadow), and (jet) black paint jobs are now also "confirmed" from two sources, unlike the aforementioned (coral) red color. Interestingly, the Z Flip 7 is rumored to come in a "White Black" version rather than separate white and black models, which could be an innocent typo... or a suggestion of a decidedly unconventional two-tone design that Samsung has experimented with in the past. The blue (shadow) colorway is practically etched in stone, and if history is any indication, many more paint jobs will be confirmed in the coming weeks (for both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 ).

Qualcomm's best chipset confirmed to power 'the thinnest and lightest foldable'

Although there's no way to confirm this year, Honor claims that its upcoming Magic V5 smartphone will be the thinnest and lightest foldable on the market. We also don't know how long that will last since Samsung is also launching its new top-tier foldables – Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7, next we do know is that Honor's flagship foldable will be equipped with Qualcomm's most powerful chipset to date, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Leading Version. This has been confirmed by a listing on benchmark aggregator Geekbench, so it's unlikely that it's not going to happen. In comparison with the 'vanilla' Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Leading Version features two prime cores that run at 4.47GHz instead of 4.32GHz. It's a slight performance boost that phones equipped with this specific chipset (i.e Samsung Galaxy S25 series, RedMagic 10S Pro+, Honor GT Pro), are getting over anything else available on the market. The phone is listed on Geekbench with model number MHG-AN00, which is the same that the Honor Magic V5 made appearance on CMIIT's certification website. Speaking of certification, the Magic V5 is expected to pack a massive 6,100 mAh battery, at least according to CMIIT. Honor Magic V5's listing on Geekbench | Screenshot by Abhishek Yadav via Twitter The Geekbench listing also confirms the Honor Magic V5 packs at least 16GB RAM and runs Android 15. Previous reports also claim Honor's upcoming flagship could boast a huge 8-inch folding screen, as well as a massive 200-megapixel periscope strives to achieves multiple 'world firsts' with the Magic V5. The flagship is not only expected to be the thinnest and lightest on the market, but it will also pack the biggest battery used in a foldable. In order to achieve that, the Magic V5 must be thinner than 8.93 because this is how thick the Oppo Find N5 is when closed. The 6,100 mAh battery that's been certified by CMIIT puts the Magic V5 slightly ahead when it comes to size. There's another impressive flagship foldable coming soon which is expected to feature a 6,000 mAh battery, the Vivo X Fold 5. Honor Magic V5 is rumored to arrive sometime this month, but it's unclear if the global launch will coincide with the Chinese release.
