Video: UK Vlogger Praises Delhi Metro, Calls It "Nicer Than London Underground"

One such content creator is UK-based Alex, who recently visited India and shared his experience with his 19.2k followers. In a recent video, he took the Delhi Metro and gave an honest review.
In the clip, he is seen entering Delhi's Rajiv Chowk metro station and just mouthing "wow". He then gives viewers a glimpse into the Delhi metro, showing a kiosk, the escalator and a signboard, and the metro gate closing with people entering the train. Since being shared, the video has accumulated thousands of views and likes. In the comments section, users expressed how great the Delhi Metro is.
"As someone currently in the UK, Delhi metro is so so so much better," wrote one user. "India have some extra rush in the metro stations but we indeed have one of the best stations in the world," commented another.

Notably, this is not the first time a tourist has been impressed with the Delhi Metro. Earlier this year, a UK traveller took the Delhi Metro and shared his honest review, highlighting its reliability and connectivity. He gave his followers a glimpse into the Delhi Metro, revealing its interior and sharing the affordable ticket prices. He also showcased a metro station's impressive amenities, including popular brands like KFC, Adidas, and Crocs.
"Not enough is being said about Delhi's metro system. You assume when you come to Delhi, it will be tuk tuk drivers trying to rip you off, smelly, trash, everywhere. What no one tells you is that they have got a very clean, efficient, reliable, and well-connected metro system," he said in the clip.

‘Delhi is a true picture of unity in diversity… a melting pot'
In the last three-and-a-half years she has spent in Delhi, the city has become like a second home for Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to India. Not just food, she loves the diversity of the city, but also its food. She speaks to The Indian Express as part of a series of interviews with Ambassadors about Delhi — a city she admires. Excerpts: One place in the city that you like visiting often. Delhi for me is like a second home. It's not easy for me to pinpoint one, but I often visit Nehru Park or Lodhi Garden… very friendly and green. What has stood out in Delhi during your stay? In Indonesia, we have this principle of 'Bhinekka Tunggal Ika', which loosely translates in English to 'unity in diversity'. I think Delhi is truly a picture of unity in diversity. When I arrived here in 2022, there were 152 diplomatic missions. Now, the number has gone up to 180. The city is a melting pot of diplomats, especially from many faraway countries. I was posted in New York before…there are 193 missions there. Secondly, when you talk about food, you can find cuisines from all Indian states. Unfortunately, Odisha Bhawan is now undergoing a renovation, but that is one of the places that I frequent because I love Odisha's food. It almost has a Southeast Asian flavour. Thirdly, even as Delhi is not my favourite Indian city, it has a character unlike many others. The past and the future come together. It's so colouful. You can say that you can understand Delhi, but you cannot, because every corner of the city brings out a different side. My favourite place is Chandigarh, and another city for me that I fell in love with right away is Visakhapatnam. Memories or encounters in the city that you'll never forget? One was the G20 Summit. The lockdown during the G20 Summit for three days…it was all so beautiful, my God! It was very romantic. I cannot explain in words. Second, when Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto came here as the Chief Guest of the Republic Day parade this year. In October, when the decision came to invite my president, I was doubtful that we could do it. India made it happen because you're so unbelievably good at extending your friendship. Favourite food in the city? The South Indian food in Malcha Marg, and I also love fried fish. And also, Dhaba in Claridges, because I love the butter chicken, and also the garlic naan. But the dal, I think, Bukhara is the best…by far. The dal is unbelievable. I just buy the dal and eat it with naan or roti. That's it. I can eat that forever. If you have to introduce Delhi back home, what will you tell them? First, unity in diversity. Second, the warmth of the people. Third, even Delhiites can't fully know the city… because if you go to Old Delhi, every nook and corner is different…Every time I go there, I go okay, how come this is here? I did not see it before.

Tourism in Meghalaya thrives, visitors throng hill destination

For tourists, it does not matter," she added. Her husband, Akshay, a businessman in Lucknow, said it was their first trip to Meghalaya and the 'heavenly natural beauty' of the state surprised them. Sunil Kumar, who had come from Samastipur in Bihar with his family of seven, was asking his minor son if he would like to experience the zip line adventure when TOI met him. His wife was enjoying the natural beauty of the state. Kumar added that they had planned to visit Cherrapunji from the Duwan Singh Syiem viewpoint, and the group was likely to visit the Double Decker Bridge at Nongrat. Regarding tourist safety, he said the Raja murder case was resolved with the arrest of the accused and it had been revealed that the case had no link to Meghalaya. "It was their (Sonam) case and they just selected Meghalaya as a place to execute their plan. So, we feel very safe here. We have been in Meghalaya for the last two days and have experienced a peaceful environment and warm cooperation from the locals," he added. Last year, Meghalaya was named India's top travel destination in Skyscanner's Travel Trends Report, outperforming global hotspots like Baku and Azerbaijan. Shillong was the only Indian city to make to the list. Meghalaya witnessed a year-on-year growth in tourist arrivals — from 10.24 lakh in 2022 to 14.22 lakh in 2023, a 38.9% increase, and further to 16.08 lakh in 2024, a 13.1% rise — reaffirming its rising appeal as a premier travel destination. CM Conrad K Sangma-led govt will now invest Rs 4,000 crore to develop tourism infrastructure, including the construction of high-end accommodations in tourist spots like Sohra and Umiam over the next two years.

One killed, 31 injured as two hot air balloons crash in central Turkey

According to media reports, the accident took place near the Ihlara Valley in Aksaray province. The reason behind the crash was not immediately pilot died, and 19 Indonesian tourists also sustained injuries. Officials have claimed that the incident happened following a sudden change of wind. The video that surfaced from Ilhas showed one deflated balloon, its passenger basket lying on its side, as emergency services tended to injured about one of the balloons involved in the incident, Aksaray Governor Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoglu said that it was trying to make a hard landing near the village of Gozlukuyu in Aksaray province when the pilot fell out of the balloon's basket and his feet got tangled in a rope."Unfortunately, our pilot got stuck under the basket and died," Kumbuzoglu said. He further stated that the injured tourists were taken to the hospital. Turkish news agency Anadolu said that the other hot air balloon , which took off from the same location of Ilhara Valley, also made a hard landing early Sunday morning and that 12 Indian tourists were slightly injured and rushed to the air ballooning is considered a popular tourist activity over the rugged landscape of central Turkey, which is dotted with ancient churches hewn into cliff faces. The attractions include the 'fairy chimneys' of Cappadocia, tall, cone-shaped rock formations created by natural erosion over thousands of years that are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
