Aaron Rodgers is 'pretty sure' the 2025 season, his first with the Pittsburgh Steelers, will be his last in the NFL, the 41-year-old quarterback said Tuesday.
The four-time MVP signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh earlier this month after two injury-marred seasons with the New York Jets. Rodgers' base salary is $13.65 million and he could earn up to $19.5 million with incentives, according to Spotrac.
'I'm pretty sure this is it. That's why we just did a one-year deal. The Steelers didn't need to put any extra years on that or anything,' Rodgers said on 'The Pat McAfee Show.' 'This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I've had.'
Rodgers agreed to sign with Pittsburgh after regular conversations with coach Mike Tomlin over a few months, characterizing the decision during the Steelers' recent minicamp as 'best for my soul.'
'It's been a long run and I've enjoyed it, and what better place to finish than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL, with Mike Tomlin and a great group of leadership and great guys and a city that expects you to win,' Rodgers said Tuesday.
Rodgers also explained why he has not disclosed more details about his recent marriage to a woman he has identified only by her first name, Brittani.
'I lived in the public eye for 20 years. I had public relationships. How did that work out? I had people leaking my home information and leaking stories that we bought a house together. I had people calling paparazzi,' he said. 'Didn't want any of that, didn't like any of that, and now I'm with somebody who's private, who doesn't want to be in the public eye, didn't sign up to be a celebrity, doesn't want to be a part of it.'
Don't expect that to change when he retires, either.
'When this is all done, it's Keyser Soze. You won't see me,' Rodgers said. 'I'm not going to be in the public eye.'
On the field, Rodgers hopes to provide stability — at least for one year — for a franchise that has cycled through several quarterbacks since Ben Roethlisberger retired after the 2021 season.
'For this year, I'm going to give the Steelers everything that I got and empty the tank and be super comfortable and satisfied with whatever happens,' he said.

Jerrad was very consistent all camp long and was a worthy MVP. RB MVP: Derrek Cooper It's tough for running backs to shine in events like this but not all running backs are Derrek Cooper. The Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna standout just does everything well. He holds his own in run blocking but where he shines is in space. He ran great routes during the one-on-ones and also had a good showing during the 7-on-7 action as well. WR MVP: CJ Sadler CJ Sadler had a terrific showing during the event. He was able to show his ability to get in and out of his breaks quickly during one-on-ones and the 7-on-7 portion of the day. He caught several touchdowns for his team in 7-on-7 and was a consistent and reliable target for his quarterbacks. Advertisement What really stood out to me though was his competitiveness. Sadler can be quiet out there but he gets after it. He also took several reps at defensive back and more than held his own. Some lucky college will get an electric playmaker that can be used in a variety of ways. OL MVP: Kevin Brown Kevin Brown, the future Penn State offensive lineman, usually excels in these settings. Rivals Five-Star was no exception. Brown is very good in pass protection because he's both agile and strong. Power moves didn't really work on him because he's so strong at the point of attack. But finesse moves are difficult for defenders too because he redirects very well. Advertisement Brown won reps all camp long against some of the best defensive line prospects in the country. SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH PENN STATE FANS AT DL MVP: Khary Wilder Picking a defensive line MVP was difficult because there were so many outstanding options but Khary Wilder got the nod. The Ohio State commit consistently beat offensive linemen at the snap and then used a variety of power moves to knock them off balance. Wilder had some of the longest arms of any prospect in attendance, which he used to keep offensive linemen from getting good hand placement. Even if Wilder's first move wasn't successful, his constant motor, aggressive hand techniques and improved strength helped him win nearly all of his one-on-one reps. Advertisement SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH OHIO STATE FANS AT LB MVP: Nick Abrams Linebackers are always at a disadvantage in showcase events like this but Abrams was able to shine in drills, one-on-ones and during the 7-on-7 tournament. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Maryland native had the speed to keep running backs in check for the majority of the day but what really helped him disrupt quarterbacks and receivers was his length. Abrams had the longest wingspan (83 inches) of any linebacker in attendance and nearly 34-inch arms, which helped him knock down passes that quarterbacks weren't expecting. Advertisement During the 7-on-7 tournament, Abrams was able to show his speed and awareness in space, helping his team win the tournament. DB MVP: Jontavius Wyman The defensive backfield was so deep and nearly all of them made noteworthy plays but Jontavius Wyman got his hands on the ball more than everyone else and consistently forced quarterbacks into bad throws. The Miami commit isn't the biggest defensive back but he has all the traits college and NFL scouts are looking for – elite movement skills, long arms, excellent football instincts and good ball skills. There were multiple plays where Wyman baited quarterbacks into dangerous throws. Despite measuring in under 6-foot, Wyman consistently won in jump ball situations as well. While the Giants are currently operating with the idea that Wilson will be the starting quarterback for the year, there has been plenty of buzz brewing about a potential takeover by the 22-year-old. After four college seasons, which included a six-game run at USC as a freshman, Dart completed 852 passes for nearly 12,000 yards. He tossed 81 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. Along with his passing, Dart rushed for 1,541 yards and 14 touchdowns on 393 attempts. He left the NCAA with a 28-13 record. Personally, Dart found a lot of success, and he won plenty of games over his final two seasons at Ole Miss. He was a proven winner in college, and Dart will eventually look to become the franchise quarterback for the Giants. Will he beat out Wilson as early as this season? Only time will tell. There's a high chance Wilson is the starter for Week 1, but it seems like the veteran might have to carry some level of worry as Dart has gained a lot of support recently.
